"Your Highness, you're finally out! Did you find anything suspicious inside...?"
He bent over, not daring to look at Maggie, his tone hesitant, his probing blatantly unspoken.
"No."
Maggie narrowed her eyes slightly, a dark glint flashing in them, but she replied in a gentle tone.
It seems the librarian knew something was wrong in the library all along, but he didn't warn her, as if he thought he could solve the problem himself.
Unfortunately, his plan failed.
Whenever my younger brother gets bored, the almost haunted situation inside will occur frequently and will never disappear.
Maggie didn't intend to change anything. After all, this guy hadn't reminded her that she should give him a little punishment to keep him on edge.
Maggie thought to herself.
"Ah? This... actually, Your Highness, inside..."
The librarian was clearly taken aback by Maggie's words and paused for a moment, but perhaps still hoping that Maggie could solve the ghost problem, he couldn't help but want to say something more.
Maggie, however, called out to Mandel, the etiquette officer who was passing by outside the corridor.
"Your Excellency Mandel."
As soon as she spoke, Mandel turned around quickly. Upon recognizing Maggie, his expression immediately became respectful, and he strode towards her.
"Your Highness, what are you doing here?"
His words interrupted the librarian's fervent desire to speak, and he retreated to the side, trembling.
"I wanted to learn more about the past of the continent of Coral. I heard that His Majesty's library has collected many related history books, so I came here directly."
Maggie looked apologetic; it was her bad timing that had led her there.
The Motley family is still being executed, and she clearly refused the emperor's invitation to attend the ceremony, yet now she's leisurely appearing in the library, which is somewhat disrespectful.
"Your Highness, you don't need to come here personally to ask for this. If you want to read any book, you can just tell the maid and I will take care of it."
Since the Motley family was arrested, and after witnessing that game of strategy, Mandel has become increasingly respectful towards Maggie, and this respect is purely from the bottom of his heart.
Maggie also had reason to believe that he wasn't joking; perhaps the book wasn't even in the Royal Library, and Mandel would have to find a way to help her find it.
"It's nothing, that would be too much trouble for you. I just wanted to borrow a general history of the continent of Lar.
As Maggie spoke, she shook the book in her hand, facing Mandel directly so he wouldn't see the small print on the back.
"Of course, no problem."
Mandel didn't even look at what book Maggie was holding before agreeing.
Based on Maggie's recent achievements in the Kingdom of Saint-Navi, the emperor would have no choice but to grant her not only a book, but even a fiefdom.
"But what brings Lord Mandel here? Has the execution ceremony already ended?"
Maggie asked thoughtfully.
“Yes, Your Highness, Motley Lynn said something... well... His Majesty was angrier than ever before when he watched an execution, so he sped up the process.”
Mandel hesitated for a moment, then skipped over what Lynn had said, as if it were something he found very difficult to say.
"I hope Your Majesty will not be angry and will take good care of your health. He is nothing more than a traitor; there is no need to be angry about him."
Maggie looked worried and asked with concern.
"Thank you for your concern for His Majesty, Your Highness. I will convey it to His Majesty."
Mandel bowed respectfully, his expression solemn and reverent.
Even though Maggie was the one being targeted, she was worried about His Majesty's health. Isn't that just like the kind and holy Holy Princess?
...
The matter was resolved faster than Maggie had imagined. Just a few days after the execution, His Majesty prepared a thank-you banquet for her, a celebration banquet to reward her for her victory.
As the days went by, Maggie's mood worsened. Lately, all she could think about was the Duke's cold-blooded and ruthless old face, which looked more like a demon than a human.
Adding to the fact that she had to return to the temple and find another way to get out next time, Maggie's mood became increasingly unpleasant. These past few days, apart from flipping through that encyclopedia of gossip and learning some water magic, she was always sighing and silent during her breaks.
Even though she now had another debt to repay for saving the God of Fire, Maggie didn't care anymore.
This caused both Little Ghost and Roy to worry about her mental and physical health.
"Maggie can talk to me if she's feeling down. The elemental spirits will do their best to help their good friend!"
Roy hovered in front of her, patting his chest vigorously with his small hands, as if to say, "Leave it to me, there won't be any problems."
Seeing Roy's adorable little gesture, Maggie couldn't help but chuckle.
"How could I possibly be in a bad mood with you around?"
Seeing Maggie laugh out loud, Roy finally breathed a sigh of relief, looking completely at ease.
But elemental spirits never need to breathe, so Roy must have learned this behavior from some human.
Maggie was both amused and exasperated.
"You're an elemental spirit, don't act like a human!"
Perhaps because Roy has spent too much time with her, many of her behaviors and actions are becoming more and more human-like.
"oh."
Roy didn't detect any malice in Maggie's tone, but he didn't understand why either, so he could only nod as if he understood.
“I’m just worried that by the time we get back to the Temple of Light, Ford will definitely have come out of the dark room. Then we’ll be at odds again, and everything will become difficult, even though we’re both from the temple.”
Maggie's tone carried a hint of distress, as if she were a saintly figure who genuinely wanted to maintain a good relationship with her colleagues.
Only the little ghost was completely uncooperative, and didn't hesitate to expose Maggie's true colors.
"Just say you want him dead, no need to beat around the bush."
The little ghost gave a cold laugh.
"bingo, you're right, you really know me."
Maggie put away her dramatic expression and snapped her fingers in the air in a cool way.
"Fortunately, although you are human, you are not a believer of the gods and will not become an enemy of the elemental spirits."
The little ghost didn't know whether to be happy or not, and her tone was a little melancholy as she spoke.
Meanwhile, Lilia also set off from the Kingdom of Arnold, transforming into a bat and heading straight for Taber, the capital of the Kingdom of Saint Na.
"Let me have a go at you, Saintess of Light who has repeatedly thwarted my vampire plans. I hope you don't fall too soon. Torturing your opponents is one of my hobbies."
Lilia, transformed into a bat, landed on a rooftop in a certain city, her gaze fixed on the direction of Taber. Her voice was charming and alluring, yet the tone of her voice was like that of a venomous snake lurking in the shadows, inspiring fear.
Not long after she finished speaking, Lilia transformed back into a bat and began to fly forward at high speed.
At her current speed, it will only take her about four days to reach Taber.
And that day happened to be the Emperor's thank-you dinner for Maggie.
