Chapter 26 The Undying Plague - Lich Pansy

Sitting in the lounge, Maggie and the Sixth Prince sat facing each other. The Sixth Prince blinked his big eyes at the cake on the table. It was clear that he was not interested in the Holy Maiden of Light, but he was very eager for food.

"Eat up, eat up."

Maggie reached out and pushed the plate of cake toward the sixth prince, her tone slightly helpless.

"Thank you."

The sixth prince's eyes lit up immediately. He picked up the plate and began to stuff his mouth with large bites, not caring about his table manners or the cake's exquisite design.

Maggie couldn't help but find it amusing to hear him take the time to thank her.

After failing to find any clues about the sixth prince in her mind, Maggie lowered her guard.

From the very beginning of the story, there were only five princes vying for the throne in the Kingdom of Arnold, and there was no mention of a sixth prince in any part of the story.

The child in front of me is probably not an important figure.

Perhaps it's the lingering beauty within the darkness of humanity that makes Maggie particularly fond of cute children, and the sixth prince's adorable appearance perfectly captured her heart.

That's why she brought him to the lounge alone and had the maid prepare a cake for him.

Although his face was thin and he looked malnourished, his big eyes and snow-white skin made people feel sorry for him.

Time flowed quietly as Maggie sat watching him eat. To her surprise, the sixth prince, despite his small size, could eat so much. It wasn't until evening that he looked up at Maggie with bright, sparkling eyes.

His light blue eyes seemed to speak volumes, conveying the joy in his heart.

"Thank you, Holy Maiden Sister."

The sixth prince beamed with a big smile, which softened Maggie's expression even more.

"It's good that you're full."

Maggie smiled indulgently, picked up the red tea beside her, and took a small sip. The rising steam obscured her face, making her look hazy.

"Is the Holy Maiden here to save Father Emperor?"

The sixth prince tilted his head, asking with a puzzled expression.

Maggie was surprised that a prince who was neglected and even starving would care about such things.

"Yes, so that your father can recover his health as soon as possible."

But she didn't show it on her face, only smiling gently.

"Since the Holy Maiden treated me to a delicious cake, how about I thank her with my little secret?"

Suddenly, the sixth prince mysteriously approached Maggie and whispered something in her ear.

"Hmm? What secret?"

Maggie took it as a child's thanks and didn't think much of it, but she still pretended to be very interested, not wanting to disappoint the sixth prince. She always had a strong tolerance for cute things.

The sixth prince was even happier to see Maggie cooperating with him so well, like a little star twinkling in the sky.

"The queen who died long ago is in the deepest part of that rose maze."

The sixth prince's words struck Maggie's mind like a thunderbolt. Maggie's teacup trembled, and she almost spilled the tea on herself.

The loss of composure was only momentary, and Maggie quickly regained her composure.

She turned her head, the smile on her lips vanishing completely. Her eyes, which had been filled with affection, now held a hint of inquiry as she looked at the Sixth Prince.

How did the sixth prince know about this?

Did the seemingly harmless sixth prince deliberately bump into her to reveal information to her?

Did he know he needed this clue?

But if he were so cunning, how could he have disappeared without a trace during the struggle for the crown prince position?

Maggie's mind raced, but she didn't make any rash moves. Instead, she continued to watch the sixth prince, wanting to see what else he could say.

The sixth prince still had an innocent expression on his face, and even grabbed Maggie's clothes and shook them from side to side, acting coquettishly.

"Holy Maiden, why are you suddenly so fierce? Do you think my ghost story wasn't told well?"

Perhaps because he saw Maggie's lips drooping, the sixth prince's expression also became aggrieved, and he looked very disappointed.

"A very good ghost story."

Maggie put on her gentle, almost holy expression again, her tone as if she were coaxing a child.

Beneath the seemingly peaceful and warm scene, undercurrents are surging.

Maggie wasn't stupid; after just one exchange, she could tell that the sixth prince had ulterior motives and wasn't as simple as he seemed on the surface.

"Saintess, I have even more little secrets to share, would you like to hear them?"

The sixth prince continued with a smile.

What gift would you like?

Maggie gave an irrelevant answer.

"I want one, I want a castle toy."

The sixth prince nodded vigorously, just like a child who loves toys.

As expected, he is still too young to hide his desires and ambitions. There is no need to guess; his wish is terrifyingly straightforward. He uses a toy castle as a metaphor for the vast royal city and also for the throne. He wants to exchange a secret for the position of crown prince.

Maggie's mind flashed through the faces of the other five princes. It seemed that, apart from the third prince, who was somewhat competent, the rest were all useless.

However, since the Third Prince was so close to Arlin, and she had a major conflict with him, letting him ascend the throne would only bring trouble upon herself in the future. It would be better to let the Sixth Prince, who was as cunning as a sieve, join the competition.

She's the one who's really causing trouble.

"If you deserve it."

Maggie did not make a direct guarantee, but instead offered ambiguous statements.

A prince who is so unloved that even his maid dares to bully him will need far more support than others to ascend the throne. If the sixth prince does not demonstrate the necessary ability and value, she will not support anyone indiscriminately.

She is now in dire straits herself, and her efforts have yielded no results, which is a fatal mistake.

"You're so kind, Holy Maiden! I will definitely not let you down!"

The sixth prince was overjoyed, jumping around in the lounge like a child who had just gotten a toy. If he hadn't revealed himself, Maggie wouldn't have seen through his hidden scheming.

"I hope so."

Maggie placed the teacup on the table, her eyes slightly lowered to conceal her emotions, her tone inscrutable.

Suddenly, the sixth prince stopped jumping and turned to Maggie seriously.

"Remember, Sister Saintess, my name is Pansy Harlen."

Upon hearing this name, Maggie's feelings were beyond being struck by lightning; it was as if she had stepped on a high-voltage power line. Her whole body trembled involuntarily, and her eyes were instantly filled with deep shock. How could it be him?!

Is everyone she's met lately this incredible?

First it was the Demon King Safa, and now it's the 'Undying Plague - Pansy', who is known as the only top-tier villain in Miracle Day.

Liches are the most difficult undead to kill. Each one is a powerful dark mage, and their true form resides in the Lich Box. Unless the Lich Box is destroyed, they will repeatedly resurrect and can never be killed.

As for why Pansy is said to be immortal...

Because he himself willingly swallowed the Lich's Box, merging into every soul fire and every bone fragment, no method could destroy him.

Even if he is completely burned to ashes, he can be reborn.

No wonder Pansy always appears in the form of a child; it turns out he died before he could grow up.
