Just as she stepped through the castle gates, a scream suddenly erupted from inside, nearly shattering Maggie's eardrums.
"Demon Lord! Lady Philomona has run away!"
As the sound faded, the entire Demon King's castle descended into chaos. Maggie had just entered when she was bumped by an unknown entity and stumbled into El's arms.
She looked up, bewildered, and then heard an even more piercing roar.
"Philomona! You don't even want your child! You just want to run away!?"
Maggie listened to the words, which were full of resentment, with a blank expression.
If I'm not mistaken, the furious man at this moment should be the Demon King they are about to meet.
Looking out through the castle windows, one could see a succubus ball darting away. All the hellish servants outside tried to stop it, but she lashed them out with her tail.
The succubus ball vanished into the hellish sky in a flash, and no one caught her.
At this moment, El was holding Maggie's arms on both sides with both hands, looking down at the whorl of hair on Maggie's head, as if he hadn't heard the chaos around him.
Maggie then realized she was still in his arms, and somewhat awkwardly patted his hand to signal him to let go.
El, who is usually quick to receive information, paused for a moment before releasing Maggie. Before letting go, he almost imperceptibly rubbed Maggie's arm with his fingertips.
Maggie was completely unaware of El's subtle actions and was annoyed that she had come at a bad time.
"Should we go back? Today might not be the right time."
She turned around and pointed to the stairs above the castle in a somewhat stiff tone.
If she could, she still wouldn't want to face a man whose wife had just run away.
Forget about asking him for a favor; if he sees El, his sworn enemy with whom he already has a bad relationship, a fight is not out of the question.
Although she wouldn't die, she didn't want to see the world collapse.
"It's okay if no one leads the way, we can just go straight up, I remember the way."
El shook his head, as if he hadn't heard how terrifying the Demon King's roar had been, and had misunderstood why Maggie wanted to leave.
I think Maggie wanted to leave because the Demon King's castle was too chaotic and no one was there to guide her.
"..."
Maggie fell silent again.
For the first time, she felt that El's thought process was quite peculiar. Was it a matter of whether or not someone was guiding him?
This is the problem of facing a furious demon king later!
She had read that 'misprinted general history of the mainland' and knew how carefree and unrestrained Philomona was, sleeping with whomever she wanted and coming and going as she pleased. The men who were infatuated with her and crazy about her could line up from heaven to hell.
But as a succubus, she has no heart at all; a man's love is just a seasoning, and his body is what she craves.
Perhaps, possibly, the only being that Philomona might be attracted to is the Elemental King.
Maggie thought uncertainly.
Actually, there are some inside stories about the Elemental King and Philomona that even Maggie doesn't know, and they're not mentioned in the Misprinted Continental History.
It was truly love between them.
Unfortunately, elemental spirits and succubi are reproductively isolated. Elemental spirits have no desires, and their relationship is purely platonic. Even Roy was formed by the elemental king using a portion of the original power left behind by Philomona.
Philomona also craved lust, so the situation became one where she had physical relationships with other men while simultaneously engaging in a pure love affair with the King of Elements.
Undoubtedly, this relationship was fraught with problems, and it eventually came to a head.
Fortunately, although Philomona was cold and indifferent to men, she had some maternal love for her children, and she cared about Roy as well.
This is also why Philomona went to find Maggie as soon as she escaped the seal.
"Let's go."
Seeing that Maggie was standing still with a complicated expression, El urged her again.
"???"
Maggie was now filled with questions, and her understanding of angels' emotional intelligence was once again refreshed.
Now that the Demon King is also a pitiful person whose feelings have been toyed with, how could he have the nerve to provoke him now?
After a brief standoff, Maggie suddenly had an epiphany.
What the hell is she struggling with?
El came here to help her, and it's a bit impolite of her to back down after arriving at the place.
With that thought, Maggie turned around abruptly, summoned the courage of a warrior cutting off his own arm, and walked up the castle stairs.
Now it was El's turn to be puzzled. Maggie had looked so unwilling just now, why is she suddenly willing now?
...
Although she had imagined that the Demon King would look terrifying, Maggie was still shocked when she stepped into the castle hall on the third floor.
I also truly experienced what it means to feel the oppressive aura of top-tier combat power during the Scourge of the Undead.
Safis, the fully-formed Demon of Time.
Unlike Safa's bare, bony wings, Safis's wings were covered with sharp feathers of time, now fully extended, with the tips of his wings already piercing through the castle.
His cold face was contorted with rage, and demonic energy surged wildly from his body. At that moment, all the demons of hell were bowing down to him.
Sensing the sound of someone coming upstairs, Safis's eerie purple eyes immediately locked onto El.
He has the same deep purple eyes as Safa, but Safa does not have the pointed horns on Safa's head, the ram's horns that symbolize his succubus lineage.
But Safis was clearly many times more ferocious than Safa. The cruel and bloodthirsty aura emanating from him was not superficial, but truly came from his very bones. He was a powerful warrior who had truly fought and killed.
Without comparison, there is no harm. Looking at it this way, Safa, whom Maggie felt was a great threat, is not even half as good as his father.
Even if Maggie is not affected by the people in the dream world, just being looked at by Safis makes her feel a chill run down her spine.
"Alright, this isn't the first or second time she's run away. There's no need to get so angry every time."
El was used to Safis's anger, and spoke in a familiar tone as if he were comforting an old friend, which made Maggie glance at him frequently.
It feels like it would be perfectly reasonable for Saphis to punch him any second.
What are you doing here again?
Safis's words seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth; he was already in a bad mood and clearly didn't want to see El right now.
After saying that, he seemed to only then notice that there was a human next to El, and his eyes moved slightly as he looked at Maggie.
Before El could answer, Safis, who was originally furious, looked at El with a strange expression as if he had discovered a new continent.
"Your lover?"
Safis made a startling remark, and Maggie, who was just watching the show, almost choked on her own saliva when she heard it.
"Cough cough cough!"
Upon hearing Maggie's cough, El calmly reached out and patted her back, which only made Maggie cough even more.
"no."
Maggie heard El's denial.
