The little ghost's face showed a faint look of speechlessness, clearly believing that Maggie's words were nonsense.
Do I look like someone who's easy to fool?
He asked, a question mark appearing above his head.
"If you don't believe me, ask Roy."
Maggie gestured towards Roy with her chin, and Roy nodded firmly.
The little ghost's lips twitched almost imperceptibly for a moment, his gaze sweeping back and forth between Roy and Maggie. DouDou's eyes were full of doubt, but since Roy was the witness, he could only choose to believe him for the time being.
"All right."
He tried to touch his forehead with his short arms, but they were too short and only reached his chin.
Maggie glanced at the little ghost, the word 'Demon of Time' flashing through her mind, and then tentatively asked.
Do you know about the Demon of Time?
There's a reason she chose to ask the little ghost. Although the erroneous version of the General History of the Continent mentions the 'Demon of Time,' the information is pitifully scarce, less than half of what Philomona has, consisting of only a few lines.
It doesn't even record Saphis's name; all that's known is that Saphis was Philomona's child.
Maggie had heard about Safis from Philomona, and she secretly remembered it. Based on Philomona's reaction, Maggie guessed that he must be Safis's father, the 'Demon of Time'.
If it's a little ghost, it might know something.
"Know."
The little ghost seemed somewhat surprised when Maggie mentioned the word.
How much do you know?
Maggie wanted to learn more about Safa to ensure the breach of contract would go smoothly.
"The Demon of Time is said to be the most powerful demon in Hell, but his strength does not lie in his combat power, but in his special ability: he can turn back time."
"This alone is enough to make him invincible."
After thinking for a moment, the little ghost slowly spoke.
He seemed to be weighing what he could say and what he couldn't tell Maggie.
"Can Nasafa also rewind time?"
Maggie's eyes flashed with shock. She had never considered this possibility before, since there was no mention of time-related settings in the comics.
"Huh? You even know that?"
This time it was the little ghost's turn to be surprised; it seemed he hadn't originally planned to tell Maggie about it.
"Um."
Maggie didn't intend to explain; she simply nodded in agreement.
"Theoretically, it's possible, but the Demon King in Hell right now, well... in human terms, his wings are underdeveloped, or you could call them deformed, so he can't use the Feathers of Time."
The little ghost frowned, but as he spoke, he also showed a relieved expression.
"It's fortunate that he's underdeveloped, otherwise the Demon of Time could ignore the rules of the Elemental King and successfully track the Elemental Spirit's trajectory, which would be dangerous for us."
Maggie's expression was a little strange, mainly because she never expected that Safa's sky-covering bone wings were actually underdeveloped wings.
If it were a fully-formed Time Demon, how large would its bone wings have to be?
"Yes, but even so, the current Demon King can freeze time. If he were to descend upon the continent of Coral, the entire world would stand still, and no one would be aware of his arrival."
A hint of envy flashed in the little ghost's eyes as she spoke.
"No wonder."
A look of understanding flashed in Maggie's eyes, and she murmured to herself.
No wonder no one noticed Safa's arrival each time. I originally thought it was some kind of demon king's entrance buff, but now it seems there's a reason for it.
"What do you mean, 'no wonder'?"
The little ghost was puzzled.
"It's nothing, thank you."
Maggie shook her head.
While knowing these things wasn't very useful in dealing with Safa, it did allow Maggie to learn many things that were previously unknown.
that is.....
If Safa still has a chance to fully develop, wouldn't it be even more difficult for her to break the contract...?
Sadness flows like a river.
"However, the Time Demons have been gone for a long time. Their manipulation of time is not without its costs. There is a high possibility that they are lost in the temporal turbulence, and may have already been torn to pieces by the turbulence."
"The more powerful a being is, the more it is suppressed by the laws of the world. Even our king cannot escape this suppression, so you don't need to worry."
The little ghost seemed to sense that Maggie was troubled and offered words of comfort.
"I'm not worried about that."
Maggie waved her hand, thinking that she was just a nobody and didn't deserve to be targeted by such a terrifying being.
But there's one problem that Maggie is inexplicably concerned about.
If there are beings like demons that defy common sense, then the original owner she encountered when she transmigrated...
According to her, she chose to commit suicide by poisoning herself because she witnessed the horrific scene of being pushed to the guillotine and did not want to experience it again. Could there be any connection between these events?
According to the normal time-travel plot, when she arrived, the original owner should not have known what the future would bring.
Was her time travel at that crucial juncture really just a coincidence?
The more Maggie thought about it, the more terrified she became, as if a pair of eyes were silently watching her, observing everything she was doing.
She was like a chess piece placed on a chessboard, unable to see what was happening outside the board, and unaware of what kind of being the one wielding the pieces was.
It's terrifying to think about.
But what's the point of her being such an ordinary soul even if she travels through time?
Every day she came here was just a struggle to survive. If she was to be a pawn, she shouldn't be cannon fodder like herself.
Maggie's mind was in turmoil, on one hand conspiring about conspiracy theories, and on the other hand wondering if she was overthinking things. In the end, she couldn't figure it out and could only suppress the unspeakable unease.
What's the point of asking this?
The little ghost asked curiously.
"It's nothing, I just happened to hear the word and wanted to know what kind of demon it was."
Maggie cleared her mind of her emotions for the time being and showed an expression similar to her usual one.
"Oh, but actually it's not very useful for you to ask. You don't need this kind of knowledge anyway, it's very obscure."
"The Demon of Time disappeared long ago. The only one whose bloodline remains is the Demon King Safa. But an underdeveloped demon is nothing to fear, at least not a threat to our king."
The little ghost waved his short arms nonchalantly, and every time the King of Elements was mentioned, he would show a very proud expression.
Maggie had met other elemental spirits, and although they all respected the King of Elements, he was the only one who worshipped the little ghost to such an extent.
He's a die-hard, fanatical fan.
"Alright, alright, we know your king is very strong now."
Maggie responded earnestly.
Roy listened attentively the whole time, occasionally showing a thoughtful expression, and sometimes frowning as if he didn't understand something.
