Chapter 606 The Shadow Hidden Behind

Bai Xi's figure disappeared into the temple, unaware that a pair of eyes were watching the spot where she entered. The shadow trembled with excitement, his eyes bulging uncontrollably, filled with drooling and greed.

"I've found it! I've found it! The perfect one for me!"

The woman's voice was excited, but no one heard it; it dissipated into the air, carrying with it a sense of death.

"I need to find a way; I want to become her."

She longed to be surrounded by all living beings, envying the divine status before her, and receiving offerings from all believers.

"The identity of a savior suits me better; who wants to be a god for the dead?"

She thought for a moment, then her expression showed that she had come up with a solution. She left those words and disappeared into the air. No one knew that she existed, and no one knew that she had ever been there.

At that moment, Bai Xi had already stepped into the main hall of the temple. The main seat prepared for her stood in the very center of the hall, and the pillars supporting it all around reflected light. Bai Xi saw her own reflection.

It looks just like Eros.

It turns out that what she saw that day was something that had happened in the past.

Bai Xi took a deep breath, walked over, and sat on the throne.

This throne doesn't actually have any special meaning, unlike the Seven Gods which represent the authority of each deity. It was simply built by believers for Baixi according to their own image of the gods as supreme, and it doesn't possess any special power.

However, Bai Xi likes this simpler symbolism very much.

The altar is engraved with the symbol of Eros, which represents 'love'.

Bai Xi suddenly realized that's how the name came about.

So do her followers feel that she descended into this world as the embodiment of love, giving them new life?

Her feelings were complicated, but only a short while later, a person appeared in the main hall.

The man's voice was both familiar and unfamiliar, but this wasn't the first time she had heard those words.

Should I call you Eros? Or should I call you Savior?

Bai Xi looked up and saw Ulysses standing in the center of the hall, his eyes filled with mockery and amusement, clearly indicating that his purpose in coming to see her was not pure.

Her face immediately darkened. Sure enough, there was no reason why he hated this vampire.

He insisted on forcing her to slap him when she was in the best mood. His attitude and expression were so irritating; no wonder she hated him.

"...I'm not a god, nor a savior, and I just find your face annoying."

As she finished speaking, an inexplicable silence fell over the air; her words were entirely a product of her terrible mood.

"We've never met before, why do you hate me so much?"

Ulysses looked puzzled.

"...There's no reason, I'm just annoyed. And what do you want from me? I really don't want to see you."

Bai Xi was speechless. This kind of thing was quite troublesome to explain, and she had no intention of explaining it to Ulysses.

Ulysses didn't speak, and Bai Xi didn't want to be in the same room with him anymore, so she was about to leave when Ulysses grabbed her hand.

Everything, scene by scene, overlapped.

"Let me go."

Bai Xiren is numb and annoyed.

Ulysses' power was clearly testing her, releasing into her body, trying to precisely obtain her strength.

However, although Bai Xi's divine body is powerful, some of its power still depends on the scepter of the main god and the scales. Ulysses is currently at his peak, so in comparison, they seem to be almost equal.

Clearly, Ulysses also came to this conclusion.

"Oh~ so this is the Savior's power, not much different from mine."

His probing, which was so offensive, drove Bai Xi to the brink of madness and a murderous urge.

"You're still as annoying as ever."

Bai Xi's forehead creased with anger. He really wanted to punch Ulysses a couple more times, but remembering the cross around his neck that carried Ulysses' power, Bai Xi had to hold back his temper for the time being.

Then, as if he had discovered something, Ulysses asked Bai Xi another question.

Have we met before?

His words made Bai Xi pause for a moment.

"I've seen it, I've seen it many times."

She didn't want to explain.

While Ulysses was thinking, Bai Xi decided to leave his control and head towards the temple gate. However, before leaving, she hesitated and warned Ulysses.

"Although you may not remember what I said by then, I still suggest that you treat me well in the future, otherwise you will be the one who suffers."

Bai Xi hoped that Ulysses would stop causing trouble so that she would have less trouble and wouldn't be so bothered by him in the future.

I was so annoyed that I stabbed him in the heart with a cross, and I'm still not satisfied.

After saying those words, Bai Xi left, leaving Ulysses standing alone in the temple, looking bewildered, wondering why Bai Xi would say such a thing.

He left the temple much later.

However, right after he left, the temple's altars and statues began to be permeated with wisps of necromantic power.

A blurry figure floated in mid-air, looking up at the statues in the square, murmuring softly and smiling foolishly.

"Soon, very soon I will replace you, and all the credit, all the miracles, will belong to me alone."

As she spoke, she suddenly caught a glimpse of her own body out of the corner of her eye, and in an instant, she showed a look of disgust.

The spirit dislikes her identity; she wants to be someone else.

"Why, why, should I be in the midst of death? I want to live, I want to... be a savior."

A look of jealousy flashed in her eyes, but it quickly turned into excitement.

It's okay, she has plenty of time, she can wait, she can wait until that opportunity comes.

...

Even long after Bai Xi left, she was still complaining indignantly.

"He should be severely punished... we shouldn't let him off so easily..."

She was venting when she suddenly realized something.

That is, she didn't deliberately recall that memory at all; every word she said and her feelings at the time matched the scene she saw at the altar.

Bai Xi suddenly shut her mouth.

"So, I was actually being controlled by the Ouroboros, wasn't I?"

Bai Xi fell into deep thought.

"Bai Xi, are we still going to find Duruso now?"

Roy looked bored, but still forced himself to ask Bai Xi a question.

"Yes, of course I'll go."

Putting this matter aside for the time being, Bai Xi plans to go and ask Duluso to see if he remembers anything about the future. However, it's highly likely that they will have to reconnect and get to know each other again.

Bai Xi sighed.

"That vampire is the worst. He likes to spread the vampire race all the time, but he doesn't take any responsibility for managing it. He just creates chaos."

The little ghost didn't have a good impression of Ulysses either, and was still complaining about him indignantly.

"Yes, that's right, bad stuff."

Bai Xi nodded seriously, agreeing with his statement.
