Ficklin was wandering aimlessly near the Elf Plaza, waiting for Maggie to finish the competition and take him away from this not-at-all-fun place.
In his mind, the Temple of Light was a place full of weirdos and lunatics, while this place was a place where nothing was allowed and nothing was allowed.
He didn't like any of them, but he couldn't just leave because he had promised to protect his savior.
Ficklin thought.
However, in reality, it is unrealistic for him, as a dragon, to leave the Green Forest alone. He would need at least the help of an elf to lead him to safety.
But just as he was getting bored to death waiting, Maggie's figure suddenly appeared not far away. Ficklin's eyes lit up immediately, and like a big dog seeing its master, he immediately ran over.
"Wasn't the competition supposed to last five days? How come you're back so soon!"
Ficklin's tone was filled with surprise; clearly, he thought this was a good thing.
"Yes, there was a slight mishap."
Maggie looked at Longlong approaching, her tone calm and composed, as always, she had no intention of explaining anything to him.
She could foresee that after telling him the whole story, this stupid dragon would definitely spout something like "awesome." After all, this was elven territory, and she didn't want to lose face.
The elven mage leading the way paused, waiting for Maggie and Ficklin to finish speaking before continuing.
Only after entering the meeting room where the elders were did he respectfully bow to Maggie and slowly retreat.
As soon as Maggie stepped into the conference room, the chieftain's gaze fell on her. He stood up with some difficulty and nodded to her.
"It is our fault that our valued guest was not satisfied, and we hope that our valued guest will accept our apology."
The Elven high command originally intended for Maggie to participate in the competition in order to help her relax and, incidentally, offer her some benefits.
In the eyes of the elders, since they knew Maggie's identity, no elf would do something like competing with Maggie for the golden leaf.
Unexpectedly, the new generation of elves were so blind that they actually did something so stupid that left them speechless.
and.....
They genuinely hadn't expected that the emerald green grass ring, representing Maggie's status as a distinguished guest, would actually be able to command the Elf Wood to offer up its companion treasure.
It should be noted that even the high-ranking elves only understood the symbolic meaning of the Emerald Grass Ring, much like a VIP identity certificate for the continental magicians' guild, and had no idea of its other uses.
After all, it's something that exists only in legends.
Such an impact on the balance of the battle means that Maggie cannot continue to participate, otherwise the other new generation of elves cannot survive.
Therefore, the higher-ups unanimously decided to end the competition for Maggie ahead of schedule.
Including her two henchmen.
The main reason is that I don't want to offend Maggie.
"No need. I don't care about their offense. However, your Elven race's discriminatory behavior is far too blatant. Now that the elders have noticed this problem, it should be resolved as soon as possible."
Maggie's words were a rejection of their apology, or rather, she wasn't the one who truly needed an apology.
Moreover, it made Maggie quite uncomfortable that an elderly man with completely white hair and beard spoke such humble words to her. Deep down, she was still a modern person who respected the elderly and cared for the young, and she always felt that such situations would shorten her lifespan.
So she simply described the issues she disliked the most and then fell silent.
The existence of superior individuals among humans is already annoying enough, and Maggie doesn't want to see the elves do the same. Reproduction is already difficult enough, not to mention their extremely long lifespans and high infant mortality rates.
Maggie sincerely hopes that the Elven race will have fewer useless members.
Upon hearing Maggie's words, several elders visibly stiffened, seemingly not expecting Maggie to be so blunt about such a matter, as they considered it a trivial issue that shouldn't be raised now in order to maintain appearances.
However, the clan chief was a respectable man; not only did his expression remain unchanged, but his tone was also as gentle as ever.
"Please rest assured, we will definitely educate them properly."
The person who became the clan leader must have some real skills.
Actually, the original leader of the Elf race was not a clan chief, but an Elf King. However, after the Forest God, the title of Elf King was no longer used, and it was changed to clan chief.
It's said that it was to avoid offending the forest god, but Maggie has never been particularly interested in such things, so she doesn't know the real reason behind it.
Of course, the most crucial point is that it wasn't mentioned in the comic.
Over the next few hours, Maggie had a token chat with them about the battle for the gold leaves, which was her way of promising not to continue picking them.
Even though all of that was money to Maggie.
But you can't go too far in taking advantage of people; if you take advantage of them to the point of exhaustion, you might get blocked next time.
"Then I'll go back and rest."
It's a foregone conclusion that Maggie will take first place, and the so-called Forest Spirit Sacred Fruit will definitely be hers in the end. Now all that's needed is to tally up the scores, but Maggie doesn't need to worry about that.
"Since our honored guest is tired, he/she may go back to rest."
Perhaps because Maggie was unusually easy to talk to, the chieftain's expression relaxed considerably, and a kind look appeared on his old face as he nodded to Maggie.
Nesser followed Maggie the whole time, while Huiya didn't dare to enter the conference room and stayed outside, waiting for Maggie to come out.
As Maggie stepped out the door, she saw Huiya and Ficklin standing outside, staring at her with eyes that seemed to hold neither longing nor anticipation.
She paused, then waved to Ficklin and Huiya.
The dragon and the elf had inexplicably synchronized expressions; their eyes lit up, and they ran up to her, looking strangely adorable.
Afraid of being too late, Huiya immediately spoke up in a clear and sweet voice. The elven girl's voice was bright and sweet, which sounded very pleasant and was more satisfying than her shy and soft voice just now.
“Honored guest, I have heard that you are the Holy Maiden of the Temple of Light. You need a powerful personal attendant. If you do not mind, I would like to leave the Green Forest and come to serve you.”
Her eyes were bright and clear, and her words were firm and resolute, as if one could see her determination at a glance.
Upon hearing this, Nesser's face immediately darkened. He opened his mouth as if to refuse on Maggie's behalf, but after glancing at Maggie, he pursed his lips and dared not make the decision on his own.
However, his emotions were fluctuating greatly, and the delicate vines that were originally hidden in his long hair began to stir, trying to touch Maggie. If he could, he would even want to completely entangle Maggie with the vines.
After hearing Huiya's words, Maggie subconsciously turned to look at Nesser.
Then....
She then saw the vines wrapped around Nesser’s shoulder and hair, just like those of the forest god!
Maggie's pupils dilated on the spot.
