As it turned out, no matter how hard she practiced magic and increased her magical power, she still couldn't break through the threshold of becoming an intermediate mage.
It was as if there was an insurmountable mountain standing between her and the level of an intermediate mage.
Maggie lifted her head from the pile of books in the library, her arms hanging limply. The original owner had learned the universal language, but not the magical language; she was now learning the ancient version.
This resulted in her being unable to learn some of the new magic introduced after the Age of Gods.
"A spell that helps a mage level up? As an elemental spirit, I don't even have a reason to collect it."
The little ghost's words flashed through her mind, and Maggie could only rub her temples and continue burying herself in the pile of books, searching desperately.
Lacking a magical language and relying solely on common language to navigate through the catalog is incredibly inefficient.
Just then, two nuns walked in, chatting as they organized their spellbooks.
The upper level of the library is mostly deserted. The nuns and priests have low access levels and cannot access the level where Maggie is, so no one has noticed that someone is hiding up there.
Maggie looked down in confusion, about to speak up to remind them, but then she heard them discussing what had happened the day she fell into a coma. So Maggie shut her mouth and listened quietly to their conversation.
Today is the first time she has left her room since she started feeling better, so she doesn't know much about what happened that day.
“I accompanied the Holy Knights and witnessed firsthand how the Knight Commander ignored even the Bishop, and despite being covered in wounds, he wouldn’t let go of Her Highness, carrying her all the way back to the temple in a princess carry.”
The nun's voice was full of longing.
Maggie, the person in question, froze, recalling Harlan's strange expression, and suddenly understood why he had said, "Everyone in Santa Fe knows."
But he actually carried me back to the temple?
It doesn't sound true.
Maggie was very suspicious.
But then again, if he didn't do that, Ford and Yarlin would have had a chance to harm her halfway through, so...
She was able to return to the temple alive thanks to Harun.
That's understandable, that's understandable.
Maggie silently found a reasonable explanation in her mind.
“I saw it too! After returning to the temple, the Knight Commander stayed by Her Highness's side the whole time, never leaving her side.”
Another nun chimed in excitedly.
"However, I heard that the Knight Commander and the Bishop seem to have had a conflict. The Knight Commander has been sent on several dangerous missions these past few days, even though he is also seriously injured. I wonder what the Bishop is thinking..."
After saying this, the two nuns seemed to realize that it was inappropriate to casually discuss His Holiness the bishop, and both fell silent.
Maggie stared at the pages of the book, but couldn't concentrate on a single word.
I haven't seen him for the past few days. Was he on a mission?
And how could someone as tactful as him argue with Ford? How could that be...?
"Do you think it's possible that... the Knight Commander is in love with Her Highness the Saintess?"
Suddenly, one of the nuns in the quiet library began to guess cautiously.
"No way..."
Another nun wanted to object, but her tone was uncertain.
Maggie's face turned pale and red, and she desperately wanted to interrupt them, but she held back when she thought about how incredibly awkward it would be if she spoke now.
"Sigh, but isn't sending Her Highness to the Cemetery of the Dead alone a bit too much...?"
The nun sighed, her tone indignant, but she dared not say anything bad about Ford, and could only remain silent.
"Speaking of which, the fact that the Knight Commander appeared beside Her Highness the first time he deserted his post without permission further proves..."
Maggie's face darkened further. That guy went to the Cemetery of the Dead because he wanted to gain the Pope's approval; what business was it of hers?
"If you ask me, the Knight Commander and Her Highness the Saintess are actually quite a good match, the Duke's youngest daughter and the Kingdom's eldest prince... a beautiful love story."
As their remarks became increasingly outrageous, Maggie's forehead veins bulged, and she was starting to feel an urge to rush down.
Could this rumor have already spread within the Temple of Light?
However, she and Harlen were truly just teammates; there was absolutely no romantic involvement between them...
Even if the God of Light is reincarnated, he's still aloof and has a cleanliness obsession. How could he possibly like someone else?
She only dares to indulge in fanfiction.
Now look what's happened; the boomerang has pierced her own back, and one day she'll be the one being shipped as a couple.
Maggie wanted to cry but had no tears.
"Stop talking, stop talking, it won't be good if someone hears you."
"Okay, okay."
Finally, the two nuns ended the agonizing conversation that had been troubling Maggie and began quietly tidying up the books.
Maggie breathed a sigh of relief, and only after they left the library did she slowly walk downstairs, preparing to go home.
result.....
She bumped into two nuns who hadn't left yet at the door.
When the two nuns saw Maggie come out of the library, they stood frozen in place, looking completely petrified.
Whispering gossip and having the person in question overhear it is a fatal blow.
"..."
"..."
Maggie's expression, as shown below, suggests an urge to escape this world.
"0.0"
What could be more embarrassing than being caught eavesdropping...?
She didn't even think about holding anyone accountable; she just wanted to turn back time.
The three of them just stared at each other, neither of them speaking first.
After an unknown amount of time, the two nuns realized they should now offer their greetings and reluctantly broke the overly quiet atmosphere.
"Your Highness, Holy Maiden, good day."
"Your Highness, may you enjoy your day."
Maggie forced a smile and acknowledged their greetings.
"Um."
The air fell silent again until Maggie's embarrassment became too much, and without thinking twice, she turned around and left the scene of the crime, finally bringing the matter to an end.
The two nuns stared at Maggie's retreating figure, exchanging bewildered glances. Once she had completely disappeared, one of them spoke hesitantly.
"Her Highness the Holy Maiden is actually... not angry?"
They looked at each other and saw the certainty in each other's eyes.
"It really is... right?"
Maggie had no idea what the two nuns had imagined after she left. She just rushed back home and didn't know it was until she got back to her room and sat on the bed for a long time before her irrational mind finally calmed down.
She has a fatal flaw: when faced with an awkward situation, her brain stops working and her IQ drops.
For example, the situation just now.
The most devastating scene kept replaying in her mind.
In severe cases, she would even feel embarrassed for others.
"When will I ever get rid of this embarrassing syndrome...?"
Maggie's inner voice cried her heart out.
