"Oh dear, you know your mother is locked up, so why isn't my dear son coming to rescue me?"
The succubus raised an eyebrow, pointed at Safa with her tail, and spoke with a strong sense of accusation.
"..."
For some reason, Safa didn't answer, but instead gave Maggie a sinister look, the meaning of which was self-evident. It seemed that the Demon King didn't really want to see his mother.
Maggie's inner voice screamed in despair as she knelt and wept. How could she be dragged into this? She was truly unlucky.
She's the 'hero' who brought Safa here... won't Safa kill her?
I should have known better than to go for a walk tonight; I can't believe I keep running into all sorts of things.
"Even if you are unhappy, you cannot threaten your followers. You are not a qualified demon king."
The succubus ball strongly disagreed; she flew over, blocking Safa's view, and pointed at him with her tail.
The oppressive aura above Maggie's head suddenly disappeared, and her tense body relaxed.
"What exactly do you want to do?"
Safa's arm veins were bulging, and you could tell he was trying hard to keep his tone calm.
It's clear that although Safa doesn't really want to see Philomona, he's a very polite and well-behaved boy.
Maggie commented in her mind.
"If I don't want to do anything, can't I even see my son?"
Succubus Ball asked back.
"..."
Safa was probably completely speechless; a hint of frustration even surfaced in his arrogant expression.
Maggie watched this scene unfold. Although her own life was in danger, she couldn't suppress the urge to laugh. The White Bone Demon King, who ruled over Hell, had actually become so obedient. It was somewhat amusing.
Time ticked by, and Maggie struggled to suppress the urge to smile until Safa finally succumbed to the succubus ball's 'judgment'.
"What is it? Please tell me."
Safa compromised.
“This is your brother’s contractor. Although she is your follower, you cannot take her soul away at will.”
Philomona was satisfied.
"?"
Maggie almost lost her composure for a moment, nearly revealing a surprised expression. This succubus was actually giving her a chance to live.
Upon hearing this request, Safa's face visibly darkened, and after a long pause, he took a deep breath and agreed.
"Can."
He was concise and to the point.
"Very good, you can go back now."
The succubus ball nodded, turned and flew towards Maggie, even winking at her as they made eye contact.
"!"
Even knowing that the succubus ball in front of her was extremely powerful, Maggie couldn't help but feel fond of it at this moment; it was just too cute.
Safa remained where he was, not immediately returning to Hell, but quietly watching Maggie, seeing her sweating profusely, yet still having to pretend to be sincere and loyal.
"Demon King, you..."
Maggie asked cautiously.
"One should not become arrogant because of favor."
Safa pursed his lips, whether out of consideration for Philomona's presence or simply because he wanted to say this to Maggie, before disappearing from the spot after he finished speaking.
The enormous, sky-covering bone wings suddenly vanished. Maggie only felt a blur before her eyes, and she was back in front of the temple gate. Loy beside her had a face full of question marks, not knowing what had just happened.
All it knew was that after Maggie left the temple, she was gone.
"That's great. With you here, I can see both children at once. I'll come to see you often in the future."
Philomona seemed much happier than before, and the eyes of the succubus ball even turned into two small hearts.
Can I ask you a question?
Perhaps because Philomona seemed easy to talk to, or perhaps because she was quite happy, Maggie mustered up the courage to ask a mysterious question that had been puzzling her for a long time.
"Ask me anything, I'm very easy to talk to."
The succubus tilted its head, seemingly not understanding why Maggie was being so cautious, even though she had been acting so friendly.
"Hmm... Will Safata be like a succubus?"
From the moment Maggie learned that Safa had succubus blood, she was particularly eager to know this.
The main reason is that directly asking about weaknesses would be too deliberate, and it would be quite embarrassing if Philomona found out that he wanted to kill her son.
You mean appetite?
The succubus ball flapped its little wings, and its tone suddenly became sly.
"Uh, yes."
Maggie hesitated for a moment, then chose to admit it.
For succubi, lust and appetite refer to the same thing; if a succubus doesn't make love with someone for a long time, she will be unable to control her hunger.
"Then you've come to the right person. Only I know the answer to this."
The succubus ball looked smug, its little tail curving several times.
Her behavior gave Maggie a hallucination. The two of them didn't seem like a senior and junior, but rather like fujoshi girls having a lewd discussion about the plausibility of fanfiction settings. The scene was strangely eerie, yet inexplicably harmonious.
“Safa is my son, so of course he has a very strong appetite. However, his other half is a Time Demon who is extremely loyal to his partner. They don’t release their desires indiscriminately and will restrain their appetite.”
When Philomona spoke of the 'Demon of Time', a hint of nostalgia appeared on her face, which made Maggie suspect that she was thinking of her old flame.
"So I guess he'll definitely be a lot of trouble for his partner in the future. Just like humans, if food is right next to them, they'll just take a bite when they're hungry."
In the end, the succubus ball's eyes narrowed into slits with a smile, looking both cunning and somewhat cute.
"Don't be fooled by the fact that his wings are almost all white bone; they are actually covered with feathers of time, which are usually invisible and make it look like he's bald."
Philomona's witty remarks were so precise and sharp that Maggie almost burst out laughing.
As expected, the mother's evaluation of her son is the funniest.
"Fortunately, he has now grown up to be able to stand on his own, which puts Safis at ease."
As the succubus spoke, it suddenly stretched out its wings, like a human stretching and yawning.
"I do get sleepy very easily at night. We can talk about fun things another time. I'm going back now."
Maggie was listening intently when she heard the succubus ball say this, and she suddenly realized that a lot of time had passed, and the sky was beginning to lighten.
"Okay, senior, please take care!"
Without hesitation, she stood at attention and bowed respectfully to the succubus ball's back.
She only had a chat, but the information she learned was countless times more detailed than any intelligence she had painstakingly searched for. It was such a bargain!
"Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I casually killed a bug for you, and I just tossed the Soul Flame into the bushes. You can pick it up if you want."
The succubus ball paused for a moment, then pointed with the tip of its tail at the flowerbeds on either side of the temple gate after a brief thought.
"!"
Maggie's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't even noticed any undead approaching, and Philomona had just casually eliminated them?
She didn't even see when Philomona made her move.
"Okay, thank you, senior."
Maggie expressed her sincere gratitude.
