Chapter 153 Appetite or Desire?

Maggie knew perfectly well that Ulysses was not awake yet and could not truly drink her blood, but even so, he would definitely not let her go in the future. He would do everything in his power to get his hands on anything that the old monster was interested in.

Not to mention food.

"Our ancestor is joking."

Maggie chuckled dryly, trying to brush it off, but Ulysses still wouldn't let her go. His straight nose hovered over her neck, as if searching for the best place to bite.

The atmosphere in the hall was tranquil. The young girl sat obediently in front of the handsome vampire, her fair swan neck exposed before him. They were intimate like lovers, as if exchanging breaths, the atmosphere tender and lingering, beautiful as a painting.

"Lord Founder?"

Maggie could feel his cold fingertips caressing and moving along her waist. If the person in front of her were any other species, she would have felt that he was sexually harassing her, but he was Ulysses.

They're probably lamenting that they can't suck blood anymore, and can only use illusions to touch food and have a little fun.

Thinking of this, Maggie was moved to tears.

It's truly heartbreaking to realize that you are food to Ulysses, not a collaborator who can be treated as an equal.

"It seems that Miss Saintess has been keeping you waiting."

As if lost in thought, Ulysses spoke again, his tone inexplicably revealing a hint of pleasure, as well as a deeply hidden longing for Maggie.

There were only two people in the castle. Maggie could clearly hear the emotions in his tone of voice, and her heart instantly went into high alert.

"Indeed, I should go."

Maggie lowered her eyes, her survival instincts kicking in, and instead of confronting him, she calmly stated the facts.

After a while, Ulysses withdrew his hand, creating distance between them. Maggie regained control of her body and was able to move again.

In the darkness, the vampire's red eyes glowed faintly, giving off a bewitching and strange feeling just by looking at them, making one unable to resist the urge to be drawn into them.

No one can refuse the invitation from the progenitor of vampires. With an embrace and a blood kiss, one can become a vampire duke, second only to the progenitor, and the noblest pureblood vampire.

Maggie didn't even look him in the eye. She simply stood up, gave him a polite bow, and then turned and left without hesitation.

She walked quickly; if she weren't worried about appearing timid, Maggie would have run away. But just before she stepped out of the castle gate, she heard a man's elegant, noble, deep, and mellow voice behind her, accompanied by a faint sigh.

"Looking forward to our next meeting, Maggie Zephnea."

His words were like an invitation, a command, or a predetermined destiny, leaving the listener in a daze.

When Maggie heard Ulysses call her name, and even mention her family name, she stumbled uncontrollably for a moment and almost fell at the front door.

Sure enough, the old monster wasn't completely unable to obtain information from the outside world; he had other means.

Fortunately, she didn't blindly believe everything in the story. The locations of the 'Blood of the Night' that she revealed to Ulysses were mostly in unexplored ruins. Given his current condition, he definitely couldn't obtain them with just one or two Blood Servant puppets.

Ulysses still only has her as a reliable person.

As Maggie thought about this, her slightly flustered heart calmed down again.

...

When she returned to the village, all the lights were off, meaning everyone was asleep, making it difficult for her to be detected.

Maggie tiptoed back to her room, only to see a figure at the door.

He was leaning against the door of her room, his silver-white curly hair hanging down, reflecting a beautiful glow in the moonlight.

Seemingly sensing Maggie's presence, Xiu slowly turned his head to look at the dark shadow not far away and asked in a calm tone.

"You're back?"

Maggie stepped out of the shadows, and perhaps because of the moonlight, her already petite figure appeared even smaller next to Xiu, creating a striking contrast in size.

"You didn't go back? You've been staying here the whole time?"

Maggie was somewhat surprised. How could such delicate creatures as mermaids stay up all night to guard the door for her?

"You must keep your promise. If a paladin comes looking for you and you're not there, it will cause a lot of trouble, and I don't like that."

Xiu spoke casually, but in reality, this was not something he was supposed to be responsible for; Maggie had already come up with a solution.

But with Xiu's help, she could indeed save herself some trouble.

Thank you.

Maggie's thanks were sincere.

"No need. This is a dwarf village. I just happened to give you the mermaid's tears as well. You can ask them for help to strengthen your staff."

Xiu doesn't usually talk much, but if he brings something up, it's because he genuinely thinks it's important, and that's when he'll offer a reminder.

In fact, Maggie had considered this issue the moment she received the mermaid's tears. However, the staff given to her by the king was not really suitable for her current situation, which made her hesitate about whether to use the mermaid's tears on the staff.

The king considered that, as a saintess of light, the staff she used should be magnificent and expensive enough, and most suitable for the use of light magic, in line with her identity as a saintess.

Maggie can now use three types of magic, which is no longer enough of what the king gave her.

However, finding a staff that can be used for all three types of magic is somewhat unrealistic, unless she finds the materials herself and asks alchemists and blacksmiths to help her forge it. Given her perfectionist nature, the cost would probably be unimaginably high.

Since she really knows the locations of many treasures, Maggie would definitely be unwilling to give up if she didn't make full use of them.

"I'll consider it."

Maggie's expression held a hint of seriousness, and she did not agree immediately. Although Xiu meant well, mermaid tears were precious, and she did not want to waste them.

Upon hearing Maggie's answer, Xiu instantly understood what Maggie cared about.

A faint hint of unease flashed in his eyes, but he turned and spoke to Maggie as if nothing was wrong.

"You can use it directly. If you need it in the future, I have more here."

Maggie didn't quite understand at first, but after she realized what she meant, she immediately showed an expression of discovering a new world.

Does he mean he wants to give her another one?!

How could such a shrewd mermaid do a losing business?

"real?"

Maggie asked uncertainly.

"If you ask again, it's a lie."

Xiu turned his head expressionlessly, his tone completely flat, eerily calm.

Mermaids have much thinner and more translucent skin than humans, so even the slightest change in their emotions can be detected.

As a result, mermaids are very good at hiding their feelings and constantly integrating their instincts.

The area around the earlobe was subtly tinged with pink.

But under the cover of night, no one noticed.

Maggie didn't have one, and neither did Xiu himself.
