Actually, there's still one thing Maggie isn't sure about: if the Duke really thinks she's no longer the original person, then why would he threaten her with the Duchess?
If she's a wandering ghost, then there's no reason for her to care about the Duchess.
Therefore, the Duke was most likely testing her.
After calming down, Maggie noticed a loophole in the letter. She thought that perhaps she had to test it to be sure.
“Okay, Maggie, I’ll go take a look for you right away.”
Roy was a man of action; he did what he said he would do. Before Maggie could even give him any instructions, Roy grabbed one of the jellyfish's tentacles and disappeared into the wall.
When the little jellyfish was dragged away, it gave Maggie a pleading look, but unfortunately Roy was too quick and was immediately taken away to work.
Only the little ghost and Maggie were left staring at each other in bewilderment.
"this......"
Maggie looked at the little ghost with some hesitation.
"It's alright, he won't be in danger. On this continent, the only one who can pose a threat to him is you."
The little ghost's beady eyes practically screamed "Heh heh," and her flat, semi-circular eyes conveyed utter speechlessness as she looked at Maggie.
"Um, what I meant was, Roy doesn't seem to know what the Duchess looks like, does he?"
Maggie sighed and rubbed her forehead.
"..."
The little ghost remained silent.
"Never mind, he'll come back on his own once he finds out."
Maggie was helpless, feeling a mix of laughter and tears.
"Once you've absorbed the Puppeteer's soul fire, you'll all be advancing to high-ranking elves, so why are you still so dull?"
She touched her chin and looked at the little ghost, whose figure was noticeably taller and more slender than before.
"...excluding me."
The little ghost gave Maggie a fierce look, her murderous intent barely concealed.
"And Roy isn't stupid! Roy is the smartest elemental spirit!"
He continued to argue his point.
"Okay, okay."
Maggie nodded perfunctorily. At this moment, she shouldn't be a spoilsport; she should cooperate with the little ghost.
"Sigh, forget it, you foolish humans, you wouldn't understand anyway."
The little ghost seemed deflated, shaking its head and sighing, as cute as ever, utterly lacking in intimidation.
If the little ghost looked more frightening, it might have been able to scare Maggie a little, but unfortunately, he doesn't look scary at all; instead, he's incredibly cute.
"Since you are a contractor of Roy, I can tell you something."
"There has been some turmoil in the Elemental Source Realm recently. I can't tell you the specific reasons, but many high-ranking elemental spirits have left the Elemental Source Realm. If you need a suitable wood-type elemental spirit, you can start looking for one."
"Of course, if you really need it, I can recommend a suitable candidate for you."
The little ghost spoke with a serious expression, even a hint of smugness, his little head held high.
Maggie stared at him with some curiosity, clicking her tongue in disbelief.
"You don't mind me abducting your own kind now?"
Her tone was surprised, astonished by the little ghost's matter-of-fact attitude.
"???"
The little ghost seemed angry; the white cloth on its body fluttered faster and faster, and its entire body began to turn red.
"Ungrateful human! I'm ignoring you!"
He turned to leave, but Maggie had already figured out his personality and easily coaxed him back with a single sentence.
"I was wrong! Please forgive me, you are so kind!"
Maggie was always extremely satisfied with the speed of her knee slide; no one could be more flexible than her.
"..."
The little ghost paused, hovering in mid-air, before turning around with a sinister look on its face.
"Then promise that you will never do anything dangerous again."
His beady eyes stared intently into Maggie's eyes, as if he would turn away if he didn't get a satisfactory answer from them.
"Oh, I promise."
Maggie nodded seriously, at an astonishing speed.
"...I don't believe it."
The little ghost almost choked to death when Maggie couldn't catch her breath, and it took her a while to regain her voice.
"Then there's nothing I can do."
Maggie looked innocent.
And so, the little ghost and Maggie stood facing off in the room for who knows how long before they finally managed to achieve a delicate balance.
They forced the signing of a contract that was reasonably acceptable.
As for whether Maggie will comply.
The little ghost said.
He will watch over Maggie forever, forever.
However, the reason he recommended the wood-type elemental spirit was because that spirit could, to some extent, curb Maggie's almost insane behavior.
The elemental spirits around Maggie now, whether it's Roy or the little jellyfish, are all easy targets.
They will also blindly support Maggie's behavior.
This is absolutely terrifying.
The little ghost needs a suitable person to keep Maggie in check, even though... he can't do that himself.
...
Meanwhile, Roy and the little jellyfish embark on their adventure.
Thanks to his excellent interpersonal skills, he asked all sorts of elemental spirits and finally found the location and direction of the Duke's mansion.
When Roy arrived, he exclaimed "Wow!"
Bathed in sunlight, the entire ducal mansion shone with a golden brilliance, dazzling and extraordinary.
Although it cannot compare to the luxury of the Temple of Light, it is still clear that the temple is quite wealthy and powerful.
Loy and the little jellyfish, taking advantage of the fact that no one could see them, swaggered in through the main entrance.
The Duke's mansion was complicated, and by the time Roy and Little Jellyfish found the backyard, it was already half dark.
The faint sobbing coming from the woman's room caught Roy's attention.
He pulled the little jellyfish and drifted over there. Just as they passed through the wall, they saw a beautiful woman and a young man together.
The beautiful woman sat on the bed, her eyes lowered and tears welling up in her eyes as she wept.
The young man's expression was impatient, and his voice sounded particularly cold.
“Mother, you’re crying every day, but you still won’t see your third sister. I hope you can stay rational.”
Upon hearing this, Roy frowned, realizing that something was amiss, and prepared to pull Little Jellyfish to a stop to listen to what the two would talk about.
"No, Maggie is still young..."
The beautiful woman choked as she spoke, her eyes swollen like walnuts, unable to even form a coherent sentence.
"Enough, Mother. You've said these words a hundred times already. Whether it's my elder brother, me, or Father, we're all tired of hearing them."
The young man interrupted the beautiful woman without hesitation, turned around in annoyance, and prepared to leave.
A serious middle-aged male voice came from the doorway.
“You can’t treat your mother like this, Vand.”
After saying that, he pushed open the door and walked in. If Maggie were here, she would recognize him as the Duke himself.
"Father."
The young man's expression immediately became respectful, no longer as disrespectful and indifferent as he had been to the beautiful woman.
"Since you are so eager to see our youngest daughter, then go ahead and do so. I have prepared a carriage and submitted a letter of invitation to the temple."
The Duke's gaze swept over the beautiful woman, his tone indifferent, calm and unmoved.
Really?
The beautiful woman looked up at the Duke with surprise, her voice filled with delight.
"certainly."
The Duke looked at the beautiful woman and spoke with a half-smile.
