Chapter 57 Bella, the Undead Lord

"The woman outside is named Bella. She is the daughter of a nobleman, but her family all perished in the Scourge."

"She used her family's military achievements to marry Erwin, with the aim of revenge."

As Harlan spoke, 'Miss Ghost' kept nodding like a chicken pecking at rice, her face, though pale and ashen, looked so excited she was almost blushing.

"Because a family member died, you're taking your anger out on Elwin?"

The plot is so clichéd that Maggie found it incredibly boring just listening to it.

"But later Bella fell in love with Erwin, but unfortunately Erwin only loved Miss Ghost. However, since Miss Ghost was just a commoner, they could only love each other in secret."

"Later, Bella learned of all this, and with love and hate intertwined, Bella ultimately murdered Erwin."

Harlan continued.

"So Bella also became an undead? Guarding Elwin's corpse somewhere in this gloomy, terrifying fiefdom?"

Maggie thought she was pretty close to the truth.

"Her Highness is very intelligent."

Harlan clapped along, his smiling face beaming with praise.

Seeing Harlan's posture, Maggie really wanted to roll her eyes, but considering her own face, which was as beautiful as a god, she forcibly restrained the urge.

We should not destroy beautiful things, except in special circumstances.

"So you investigated in such detail because you've been planning to target this cemetery for a long time, haven't you?"

The clues in Maggie's mind connected, and it became clear why Harlan had taken over the cemetery and become the Pope's subordinate; he had planned it all along.

"I must thank Your Highness, for it was through this that I was able to find the legendary Elwin Castle."

Harlan nodded slightly and bowed in thanks, displaying the demeanor of a prince and gentleman.

"After finding this information, I came to the cemetery many times, but I never encountered her. It was thanks to the Moonstone that I was able to follow Her Highness into the cemetery."

His sudden revelation caught her off guard; he clearly believed Maggie had already discovered the moonstone, and his subsequent assumptions were likely an attempt to regain her trust.

Even a fragile, temporary team relationship needs a little sincerity to maintain.

"What sustains the illusion of Elwin's Courtyard is an Abyssal Magic Stone, which His Holiness the Pope needs."

Harlan stated his purpose frankly, no longer hiding it, and adopted a mysterious and unfathomable demeanor.

"hehe."

Maggie sneered and looked at 'Miss Ghost' again.

What should I call you?

When 'Miss Ghost' received the question, she looked blank for a moment, then shook her head.

"I don't know, I don't remember, but none of that matters. I just want you to help me find Erwin."

Maggie sighed inwardly. Sure enough, commoners of lowly status do not deserve to be remembered in history.

At least Elwin and Bella are recorded in some part of the history of the continent of Coral, but there is no such person as 'Miss Ghost'.

"Okay, I understand."

Maggie nodded, then calmly gave him the order to leave.

"It's too late today, perhaps we should continue our discussion tomorrow."

She needed some private time, and there were some questions she needed to ask Little Ghost. Although she didn't want to admit it, as Roy said, Little Ghost really knew a lot.

"In that case, I wish Your Highness sweet dreams tonight."

Harlan seemed to recall the experience of being locked out by Maggie, and his expression froze for a moment before he gracefully bid farewell to Maggie.

"Alright, goodnight, Holy Maiden."

Nesser knew he couldn't sleep in the same room as Maggie that night, and he looked disappointed, but he still obediently agreed.

"Good night."

Maggie smiled and waved to Nesser, but when she turned around, Perkin had already disappeared.

"..."

Well, she wasn't surprised at all; if he were still alive, he wouldn't be Perkin.

After everyone left the room, Little Ghost and Roy flew hand in hand to Maggie, looking like they had an extremely good relationship.

Maggie's gaze lingered on the spot where their hands were clasped, staring for about three seconds before she quietly looked away.

"I'm sorry, Maggie, I'm just a low-level elf and I couldn't sense the high-level undead approaching you."

The usually cheerful Roy looked very sad, and her apology was tinged with tears, which made the little ghost glare at her several times, until her beady eyes almost turned into strabismus.

"It's alright, it's alright, the matter has been resolved."

Maggie couldn't bear to see Roy upset, so she immediately comforted him gently.

"She's our friend now, and she'll help us when we fight bad guys."

Living beings and the dead are naturally opposites. Life and death are like an insurmountable chasm. It sounds absurd to cooperate with the dead, but 'Miss Ghost' is definitely on their side now. At least until she finds Elwin, she certainly won't turn against them.

"Foolish human, the bodies of the dead only retain the most intense emotions from their lives. After death, everything returns to nothingness. Even if they become ghosts, they are beings without feelings. They have an innate malice towards the living. You should not believe her."

The little ghost's beady eyes were full of disapproval, but Maggie knew that he was concerned about her.

As expected, the elemental spirits were clueless about social etiquette.

"I was trying to comfort Roy..."

Maggie was furious; how could she not even have this much common sense?

"?"

The little ghost, who had been giving him a smug look, instinctively turned to look at Roy after hearing those words.

Roy, who had just recovered, suddenly became worried again, looking even more anxious than before.

"!!!"

The little ghost's face showed visible panic, the white cloth on its body became wrinkled from its frantic movements, and the will-o'-the-wisps above its head were startled and burst out.

"Stop crying! I promise I won't let anything happen to Maggie!"

Seeing the little ghost's almost tearful expression, Maggie finally couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Then tell me about the Abyss Soul Stones first."

Maggie sent everyone away so she could ask Little Ghost for information. The woman outside, Bella, was much stronger than she had imagined; even 'Miss Ghost' couldn't handle her.

Letting her hit it is like throwing an egg against a rock.

The little ghost looked thoughtful, and then began to recount the knowledge he knew, one by one.

“There will indeed be a place of illusions near the Abyss Soul Stone, but it must come from the memories or will of a dead person in life, and it must be the most powerful dead person.”

"Moreover, there are very few undead in this cemetery, unlike the normal number of undead near the Abyss Soul Stone. It is likely that she suppressed them in some place in order to maintain the appearance of tranquility."

"Conservatively speaking, the woman at the door, Bella, is an undead lord."

The little ghost's analysis made Maggie's heart sink instantly. How was she supposed to fight this?
