Chapter 19: Snake Beast Husband, Teng

Chapter 19: Snake Beast Husband, Teng

Fu Ying narrowed his eyes and followed him in at a leisurely pace.

"Hua..." Lushan's expression changed. Just as she was about to call her back, she saw Sangjie staring at her coldly. She sneered, "Let her go! She's just a disabled female. Who do you think she is?"

For females, not having a star pattern is indeed no different from being disabled.

They were just a subordinate tribe of the Cangshan tribe. They deserved it for going in to participate in the totem sacrifice of another tribe. Haha, when she was discovered, they just had to wait and go in to collect her body.

Lushan's face turned pale. Looking at the thick smoke rising from the Cangshan tribe, he dared not speak anymore.

But she knew that Fu Ying would not be able to come out alive.

Each tribe has its own unique totem, and totem sacrifice is an extremely solemn ceremony of the tribe. It is a prayer to the beast god and a living sacrifice. If outsiders participate, it will be regarded as blasphemy to the beast god.

The Banshan tribe has not yet been integrated into the Cangshan tribe and is still an outsider.

Fu Ying followed a few sentry orcs and soon arrived at a spacious altar.

The altar is paved with huge stone slabs with a smooth surface, exuding an ancient and heavy atmosphere.

The area around the altar was packed with people. They were all kneeling on the ground, their backs hunched, their hands folded on the ground, their foreheads pressed against their palms. The atmosphere was solemn.

Fu Ying saw Mo Yan kneeling in the front, his posture equally pious.

The scene was silent except for the crackling of flames in the four corners.

On the high altar stood a mysterious figure, neither man nor woman.

He wore a snake-head mask, and his snake eyes were cold and deep, as if he could see through all the secrets of the world.

As soon as several sentry orcs arrived at the scene, they knelt down on the periphery without hesitation, as if drawn by an invisible force, in the same posture, full of piety.

Fu Ying glanced at the grand ceremony, but his eyes were fixed on one place.

It was a stone pillar standing on the altar, so thick that it took two people to hug it, and it was very majestic.

A winding snake totem is carved on the stone pillar. The texture of the scales is clearly visible, the snake's tongue is slightly protruding, and the snake's pupils emit a cold light. It is lifelike, as if it will break free from its restraints in the next second.

At this moment, a person was tied to the stone pillar.

The man was tightly wrapped in rough ropes, unable to move. His body leaned back slightly, and his messy hair flew wildly, covering most of his face. One could only vaguely see the corners of his mouth twisted in pain, and his body trembling slightly under the ropes. He looked particularly out of place on this solemn and mysterious altar.

Fu Ying recognized it at a glance.

Her snake beast husband, Teng.

Just then, the mysterious man on the altar spoke.

He knelt and uttered a cold voice, "The Cangshan tribe murdered the Beast God's messenger, enraging the Beast God and bringing down divine punishment! The earth is shaking and disasters are rampant, which is clear evidence of this!"

"Today, the Cangshan tribe held a totem sacrifice, offering the son of our noble snake leader, Teng, to the Beast God. We sincerely pray that the Beast God forgive our sins, calm our anger, and allow the Cangshan tribe to return to peace and avoid the suffering of heaven's punishment!"

The man wearing the snake-head mask had a voice like a loud bell, and he raised his hands high, as if making a loud announcement to the sky.

As he finished speaking, the orcs of the Cangshan tribe, who had been silent, echoed loudly: "Please ask the Beast God to forgive our sins, calm our anger, and let the Cangshan tribe return to peace and avoid the suffering of heaven's punishment—"

The sound shook the sky. After a long time, the mysterious man stood up and picked up a burning torch from the fire.

"Sacrifice--" As he said this, he was about to throw the firelight towards the dry firewood piled under the stone pillar.

The snake on the stone pillar suddenly spoke at this moment.

"Hehe..." He sneered, his hoarse voice sounding like a devil from hell.

He raised his head, and his eyes, so dark that they tinged with dark green, swept over everyone through his messy hair.

"Becoming a sacrifice is not what I want. I am filled with resentment!" Teng was tied tightly with ropes. He spoke each word clearly, his hoarse voice filled with cold brutality, and his eyes were full of resentment and determination.

"Today, I am forced to sacrifice myself to the Beast God, against my will. Therefore, I curse Fu Ying of the Fox Clan to die a miserable death! May disaster follow her like a shadow, devouring her mercilessly, leaving her to suffer in agony and eternal rest!"

He sneered, his voice echoing in the empty altar, revealing endless hatred.

Fu Ying stood at the back, listening to the lingering curse that lingered for a long time, and felt a chill in his heart.

The mysterious man looked up at Teng without saying anything. Just as he was about to throw the torch in his hand into the firewood pile, he suddenly stopped and shot his cold gaze straight at Fu Ying who was standing upright.

His voice was filled with anger: "Who are you? A totem priest, how dare you blaspheme the Beast God?!"

Upon hearing this, the kneeling people of the Cangshan tribe were horrified and turned their heads to look behind them.

When Mo Yan saw Fu Ying, his expression changed and his voice was filled with sinister intent: "You are so brave!"

Teng's dark green eyes were also staring at Fu Ying, with an extremely cold and murderous look.

"Who is this female? Why is she in our Cangshan tribe?!"

"Blasphemy against the Beast God! Damn it! She should be thrown into a cave of snakes and eaten to death!"

"Those who disrupt the totem sacrifice should be killed!"

“…”

Facing the aggressive Cangshan tribe, Fu Ying showed no fear. Her charming voice carried undeniable authority as she looked at them coldly, "You are wrong. The Beast God protects the orcs, so how could he kill them indiscriminately?"

The orcs gasped: "How dare you question the witch's decision??"

Mo Yan's face became even gloomier. Although he suspected that this female was the one who played a trick on him last night and wanted to raise her so that she could provide him with convenience in the future, if she was seeking death herself, then he couldn't blame others.

Fu Ying sneered, "Witch? You wantonly kill your own kind. What kind of witch are you? What kind of Beast God messenger are you?"

The mysterious man wearing an animal head mask on the altar stared at Fu Ying, but he was not angry. He said in a cold voice: "You disrupted the sacrifice and offended the beast god. Tie him up and throw him into the Ten Thousand Snake Cave."

When the orcs from the Cangshan tribe were about to attack, Fu Ying raised the corners of his lips and said condescendingly, "Didn't you just say that killing the Beast God's messenger would anger the Beast God? I'm also a witch, how dare you kill me?"

After he finished speaking, Fu Ying gently raised his hand, and a transparent talisman shot up into the sky.

“Boom—”

In an instant, a deafening roar like thunder exploded in the sky, and raindrops as big as beans poured down, hitting the ground with a "crackling" sound, splashing layers of water.

In the blink of an eye, the entire altar was covered by the sudden rain.

However, what is even more bizarre is that although it is raining heavily here, the sky outside the altar is still clear and the rain seems unable to spread. This scene is inevitably creepy.

The kneeling orcs looked terrified, and each of them was soaked like a drowned rat.

In a moment, the torch in the mysterious man's hand and the bonfires burning around him were extinguished, and large clouds of smoke rose.
