Chapter 210 Am I Too Late?
Ji Wanqing didn't keep paying attention to those posts. Instead, she opened her fan group and saw that everyone was concerned about her situation.
[We have contacted the platform to address the false information. Please remain calm and wait for the weather to clear up.]
A simple and unpretentious rich woman: [Don't worry, I've already checked for you. She's perfectly healthy and lively. As for the broadcast date, we'll have to wait for her response.]
[Don't believe those random posts out there! Sunny Sister is doing great! She's just tired and needs a couple of days of rest!]
[Thank goodness my wife is alright! We were so scared! Get some rest!]
[It's good that you're safe! We're waiting for the sunny days to come.]
Seeing this genuine care and concern, Ji Wanqing's eyes welled up with tears.
She took a deep breath and typed in the chat box.
Sunny Tuantuan [Thank you everyone for your concern, I'm fine now. I just accidentally scraped my wrist a little and broke my phone. I need to rest for a couple of days, and I'll be back to livestreaming in a few days. Love you all~ (づ ̄ 3 ̄)づ]
As soon as she sent out the message, the group chat exploded with activity, flooding the screen with greetings and blessings, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
This feeling of being genuinely cared for by many people made her realize that she was not alone.
Just as I was watching the lively chat in the group, the ward door was gently pushed open.
Ji Wanqing looked up and saw Duan Ye walk in.
He changed into a clean light gray tracksuit, his hair was still slightly damp, as if he had just washed up, and he exuded a refreshing aura.
He was carrying two exquisite paper bags printed with the logo of a well-known dim sum restaurant, and the aroma of food wafted out from them.
Ji Wanqing was a little surprised. She thought Duan Ye left quietly because he didn't want to disturb her sleep. She thought it would be good for him to go to the hotel to rest for a while, but she didn't expect him to go to buy her breakfast.
"Awake?" Duan Ye saw her leaning against the headboard looking at her phone, his gaze softening slightly. He placed the bag he was carrying on the bedside table. "How are you feeling? Does your wound still hurt?"
"Much better, Brother Qingye." Ji Wanqing put down her phone, her gaze involuntarily drifting to the bags emitting an enticing aroma. "What are you doing...?"
"I thought you should be awake by now, so I went to buy some breakfast." Duan Ye said as he skillfully opened the bag and took out the lunchbox inside.
There were crystal-clear shrimp dumplings, cute little siu mai, soft and sticky congee with preserved egg and lean pork, and several exquisite dim sum dishes. The variety was dazzling, and it was clear that a lot of thought had been put into it.
"I didn't know what you liked to eat, so I bought a little bit of everything." He said casually, as if it were just a trivial matter.
"I'm going to wash up." Ji Wanqing took out the toothpaste and toothbrush that she had asked Ye Ling to buy yesterday and went to the bathroom to wash up.
When I returned and saw the breakfast spread out on the small table, I felt a surge of indescribable emotion.
She recalled the emptiness she felt upon waking, but now it was filled with this meticulous and thoughtful care.
"Thank you, Brother Qingye, this is too much..." She paused, then added somewhat shyly, "Actually, it doesn't have to be so complicated. I can just eat out after I'm discharged from the hospital."
"No trouble at all." Duan Ye broke the disposable chopsticks in half and handed them to her. He then carefully opened the lids of the takeout boxes and pushed them in front of her. "Eat it while it's hot."
He pulled up a chair and sat down, but didn't touch his chopsticks. Instead, he picked up a bottle of mineral water next to him, unscrewed it, and took a sip.
Seeing how stiffly she held the chopsticks, he put down the water bottle and asked, "Do you need me to feed you?"
"Ah?" Ji Wanqing's face flushed again. "No need, no need... I'll take my time."
Ji Wanqing was indeed hungry. She had only eaten a small half-bowl of porridge that Meng Chao had bought yesterday because she was too frightened, and it had already been mostly digested.
She sipped the warm porridge, the rice grains cooked until soft and melted in her mouth, the warmth spreading from her stomach to her limbs.
She picked up another shrimp dumpling; the translucent skin, as thin as a cicada's wing, wrapped around a plump shrimp, and it was incredibly delicious.
"It's delicious." She praised sincerely, then looked up at Duan Ye and found him watching her quietly with focused eyes.
When she noticed, he didn't look away, but just smiled faintly, "As long as it suits your taste."
There was silence between the two for a moment, broken only by the soft sounds of Ji Wanqing eating.
Sunlight streamed through the window and fell on Duan Ye. He sat there quietly, like a serene painting.
Ji Wanqing suddenly felt that having breakfast together quietly like this was quite nice, without any pressure or suffocating tension.
She recalled the lively atmosphere in the fan group and casually shared it with him.
“I just checked the fan group, and everyone is very concerned about me. Xingguang and Brother Gudao are still helping me clarify the rumors.”
Duan Ye nodded upon hearing this, not surprised.
"Yes, everyone is very supportive of you, and you deserve it." He paused, as if carefully considering his words, before continuing, "That's how the internet is; good and bad things come quickly. Don't let those voices affect you; just be yourself."
Ji Wanqing nodded slightly and put down her chopsticks.
Seeing that she had finished eating, Duan Ye thoughtfully handed her a tissue and then quietly tidied up the takeout boxes.
Ji Wanqing wanted to say she would do it herself, but she knew Duan Ye would definitely not let her do it, so she just looked at him with gratitude and thanked him in a low voice.
"Thank you so much for coming all this way to take care of me."
"Don't feel pressured. If I get hurt, you'll come too." Duan Ye turned to look at her. "Right?"
Ji Wanqing paused slightly, then nodded emphatically and smiled, "Yes!"
Unnoticed by them, Zhou Xubai silently peered into the ward through a small pane of glass in the door.
The handsome man and beautiful woman both had relaxed smiles on their faces, and they really looked like a perfect match.
He looked down at the breakfast in his hand, gave a wry smile, and thought, "Am I still too late?"
Will going in like this make her angry?
Just as he was hesitating, the doctors and nurses came to check on the patients and were taken aback when they saw the person at the door.
"Are we going in?"
"Uh... I'm not going in. Could you please take this with you? Thank you." Zhou Xubai shoved the breakfast he was holding into the nurse's hand and hurriedly left.
The nurse was left bewildered. She took the breakfast inside and placed it on the bedside table. "There was a gentleman at the door who asked me to give this to you."
Ji Wanqing was also taken aback and looked towards the door, but saw nothing.
Duan Ye strode out, wanting to see who it was, but he was too slow. Zhou Xubai had already left via the fire escape, without waiting for the elevator.
After examining Ji Wanqing's wounds and physical condition and confirming that she was alright, the doctor said that she could be discharged today.
Duan Ye returned just in time to hear this, and shook his head at Ji Wanqing, "I didn't see who it was. I'll go and help you with the formalities later."
"No need, Brother Qingye, you've already helped me a lot, I can manage on my own..." Ji Wanqing quickly waved her hand.
"It's alright, it's nothing." Duan Ye interrupted her, already picking up her medical records and payment slip. "Wait for me to come back."
After he finished speaking, he left the ward with the nurse.
