Chapter 514 Huaiyu's Little Thoughts

"But you can't go back on your word, can you?"

Luo Lan didn't listen to the two children's argument, but slowly walked to Huaiyu, squatted down, pulled him up from the ground, and held him in her arms. She could feel his young body trembling...

She patted his back and comforted him kindly:

"Huaiyu, even though your mother can see you in heaven, you can't go there every night. If it affects your rest, you'll get sick, and your mother will be even more unhappy. Listen to your mother and don't do this again in the future, okay?"

"Mom, I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have stayed up late with my younger brothers and sisters. Please punish me!"

Luo Lan pulled Huaiyu up from his body, raised his hand to wipe the tears from his face, and comforted him softly:

"It's not your fault, and I won't punish you, but I want to tell you, don't do such stupid things again. If you miss your mother very much, I promise you that on the anniversary of her death this year, I will take you to see her. You can kowtow to her and talk to her, okay?"

"Really?"

Huaiyu raised her head and looked at Luo Lan, with tears in her eyes and little stars in her eyes.

"Can I really go to my mother's grave to pay my respects?"

After saying this, he suddenly noticed Leng Yu's unusually cold gaze and shook his head vigorously.

"It's just because I haven't seen my biological mother, so I'm thinking about you and dad treating me better than An An Le Le. I know I shouldn't have such thoughts. I'm sorry. Huaiyu won't mention this matter again in the future."

Luo Lan realized that Huaiyu was forcing himself to say such words. She patted his shoulder and whispered to him:

"Okay, go get some sleep first. Mom will ask the teacher to wait for you. You can have today's class in the afternoon."

Hearing this, the first person to be happy was Lele. He lowered his head, looking weak, and muttered,

"I really, really miss my bed. I really, really want to go and chat with Grandpa Zhou."

Seeing his mischievous look, Luo Lan smiled helplessly. She instructed the girl outside the door:

"Send the young lady and the young master back to their rooms to rest."

After receiving the order, the maids came in one after another and took the three children away.

Luo Lan also noticed the change in Leng Yu's eyes. After the three children left, he asked softly:

"Husband, what's wrong with you?"

Leng Yu put his hand on her shoulder, pursed his lips, and said meaningfully:

"When Huaiyu is in front of you, you treat him better than your own mother. He still misses his own mother whom he has never even met. You can imagine what he would become if he had really been allowed to live in the palace."

Luo Lan's gaze fell upon the scene before Xiaoyu's death. His eyes were empty as he muttered:

"When he found out he wasn't our biological child, he felt like a dependent. I understand this feeling better than anyone else. So, from now on, we must be extra kind to him and never let him have any feelings of inferiority."

Leng Yu reached out, took her into his arms, and sighed:

"My dear, I'm really afraid that your feelings for him will make you sad in the future."

"I don't care. I just want to raise him. When he grows up, he will have his own life. By then, I won't care what he becomes or if he ignores me."

"Really?"

Leng Yu knew that she was comforting herself. She had watched Huaiyu grow up since she was a child. If one day, Huaiyu really did something to hurt her, or said something to hurt her, she would be sadder than anyone else.
