Chapter 574 Angry Leng Ming

The dozen or so soldiers standing in front of Leng Ming lowered their heads and dared not speak when they saw Leng Ming's tone become sharp.

After Leng Ming finished venting his anger, he rolled his eyes and said:

"Old Wu, right? Can you show me your inventory data?"

"In reply to Prince Ming, the inventory data was previously under my control. Now that you're here, it should be yours. I'll go get it right away."

Seeing that Old Wu wanted to get the account book, he waved his hands at the others impatiently.

"All of you go down. Old Wu stay. I have something to say."

After everyone left, he said to Old Wu:

"Old Wu, I have something to tell you. Bring me the inventory data you recorded earlier. I'll take a look at it. If my fourth brother asks about it later, you must tell him that I counted it myself. Don't say anything wrong. Can you do that?"

Old Wu nodded hurriedly, "Don't worry, Prince Ming, Old Wu knows what to say."

Leng Ming waved his hands in satisfaction.

"Well, as long as you do as I say, the warehouse keeper position will be returned to you soon. Now go get me the account book, and bring me a new one and a pen..."

Since the data was already there, why would he bother to search it? Besides, what was the point of searching for it? It wouldn't get lost if it was kept in the barracks.

After a while, Old Wu brought out the old and new account books. Leng Ming instructed Old Wu:

"Go guard the door, someone come and notify me..."

Leng Ming only spent one afternoon to complete a task that could have taken three days. However, he didn't want to go to his fourth brother so early in the morning, lest he discover the clues. He didn't want his fourth brother to know that he had obtained this data without any effort...

When he left the military camp at night, he pretended to be very tired and greeted Xiao Lingzi and others.

"My back and waist ache today. I have to go back first."

Xiao Lingzi hurriedly instructed:

"Prince Ming, please come early tomorrow. The prince is waiting for you..."

Leng Ming waved his hand without even turning his head.

"Got it. I won't be late."

Since his fourth brother asked him to guard the warehouse, he might as well guard it for three days and see what his fourth brother can say when he handed in the data of the warehouse goods after three days.

Thinking of this, his steps became much lighter, and he whistled unconsciously...

Three days passed in a flash. During these three days, Leng Ming ate well and slept enough in the warehouse, just trying to get by.

Just after noon on the third day, he came to Leng Yu with the account book he had copied in advance.

Leng Yu said to Xiao Lingzi without even raising his head:

"Go get Old Wu and bring the account book over. Check it out and see how many discrepancies there are. Write them down and check them later."

Hearing this, Leng Ming raised his head proudly and smiled complacently. His account book was copied exactly according to Old Wu's account book, so there would definitely be no mistakes.

After a while, Old Wu came to Leng Yu with the account book and bowed and said:

"In reply to the general's question, I have personally witnessed that Prince Ming has been staying in the warehouse all day these past few days, getting up early and working late to check the inventory. His data is very accurate."

Leng Yu didn't want to listen to him anymore, so she just waved her hand. Xiao Lingzi hurriedly took the account book, sat at the table on the right, and proofread it carefully.

After about an incense stick of time, Xiao Lingzi stood up and walked to the center of the main hall, clasped his fists and saluted, saying:

"Your Highness, I have proofread it, and it is word for word correct."

Exactly the same?

When Leng Yu heard these four words, his brows knitted together, and he paused for a long time before saying:

"It seems that Sixth Brother has put a lot of thought into it. Bring it here so that I can take a look at it myself."

In fact, he had wanted to renovate this military supply depot for a long time, but because he had been busy recently and had to deal with court affairs, he did not have much energy, so he had put it on hold. He had originally thought of taking advantage of Leng Ming's visit to the military camp to let him find out what was wrong with the military supply depot, but he did not expect that the data he found was exactly the same as the data provided by Old Wu.

This made him doubt whether Leng Ming was really doing this with all his heart.

When Xiao Lingzi handed two account books to Leng Yu, Leng Ming was busy explaining,

"Fourth Brother, this is data I spent three days compiling. It's definitely correct. If you don't believe me, ask Old Wu."

Old Wu also nodded hurriedly and replied:

"Yes, this subordinate saw the record made by Prince Ming when he personally inspected the items."

Leng Yu didn't answer him, nor did she look up at him.

He stared at the two account books. The more he looked, the uglier his expression became. By the time he saw the middle part, his face had turned pale and blue.

“Bang!”

He slammed his palm heavily on the account book, stared at Leng Ming with a pair of sharp eyes, and shouted:

"Is this the data you found yourself?"

Leng Ming was confused by his sudden questioning, but he still tried his best to calm himself down and nodded hurriedly.

"Yes, I checked it myself."

"You're lying..."

Leng Yu's voice suddenly became extremely high-pitched, and the anger in that voice seemed to be able to devour people.

Leng Ming shuddered secretly and shook his head in denial.

"No...no...I...I dare not...I dare not lie..."

"Hmph! Since you're not lying, then explain. On page 15 of the account book, Old Wu made a note saying 1,500 pieces of clothing were shipped out today for the new soldiers arriving. Why did you use them in your account book as well? Even the placement is exactly the same. Did 1,500 pieces of clothing also ship out in the past three days? Did over a thousand new soldiers arrive in the barracks in those three days?"
