Lai Fu's words made Sister Hong fall into deep thought. Just when she didn't know what to do, someone rushed in.
"Sister Hong, this is bad! The police are searching every house and are almost at Yuhongyuan."
Sister Hong was so scared that she jumped up from her chair. At the same time, An An followed the women and surrounded Sister Hong.
"Sister Hong, what are the officers looking for? I hope they won't cause trouble for our Yuhongyuan."
"Yes, we are not afraid of the officials from Yancheng, but I heard that this time the officials are from the capital."
Officials from the capital?
When An An heard these words, his eyes suddenly lit up. This was a good opportunity to escape.
Sister Hong glanced at her, raised her hand and angrily scolded:
"Why are you making such a fuss? You look like you've never seen the world before. So what if he's just an official from the capital? He's still a man."
At this point, she looked at An An, waved her hand, and reminded her softly:
"An An, these officials are here with bad intentions. You are young and have never seen this kind of world. Don't be scared. Let Lai Fu take you upstairs to hide."
An An stared at Sister Hong with wide eyes and shook her head pretending not to care. "Sister Hong, I'm not afraid. I want to see what the big shot from the capital looks like."
"no."
Sister Hong's voice suddenly rose, and at the same time, the sound of a door opening was heard. Sister Hong quickly winked at Lai Fu. Lai Fu covered An An's mouth with one hand, picked her up with the other hand, and ran straight upstairs.
An An wanted to break free, but Lai Fu's grip was too strong and she couldn't get away at all.
At this moment, a group of officials rushed in. After entering the house, they stood in two rows to make way. After a while, Leng Xi, dressed in white, walked in with his hands behind his back.
Sister Hong hurriedly greeted him with a smile.
"Hey, who are you, sir? Yuhongyuan has operas during the day, but there's more fun to do at night. You're here early."
Leng Xi glared at her with disdain and waved to the people behind him.
"Search for me, don't miss any corner."
"Hey, sir, what's going on? I've always been doing business in accordance with the law here at Yuhongyuan. How can you just search us without authorization? What if you scare the girls here?"
As she spoke, Sister Hong took out a silver ingot from her sleeve and secretly stuffed it into Leng Xi's hand.
Leng Xi frowned and scolded her with a cold look:
"How dare you to bribe this king so brazenly! You are truly very bold."
The officer behind her also warned her loudly at this time:
"This is Prince Xi of Daning State. Do you think he needs this little money? Get out of here right now."
Hearing this, Sister Hong's face turned pale. Prince Xi? She had heard that he was not a good person. Why would he come to her Yuhongyuan to search for someone today? This might not be a good thing.
Thinking of this, she was suddenly frightened and knelt on the ground, begging non-stop.
"I didn't know Prince Xi was coming. I hope Prince Xi will forgive me. I don't know what Prince Xi is looking for. I dare not hide it from you. Please give me your instructions."
Leng Xi watched the officers rush upstairs, snorted at Sister Hong, and asked:
"Have you ever had a little girl here?"
Sister Hong looked a little nervous. She glanced towards the stairs out of the corner of her eye and saw that Lai Fu had disappeared with An An. She was relieved and replied:
"Your Highness, are you kidding me? Look here, we're all grown women. Where did this little girl come from? I never thought you had this habit. Oh, by the way, that girl is the youngest here. Can you take care of her?"
Leng Xi snorted coldly with a frosty face.
"Stop talking nonsense. The second young lady of Prince Yu's Mansion is in your Yancheng. Even if you have to turn Yancheng upside down, you must find the second young lady. If you haven't seen her, it's fine. If you have, don't tell me. Not only will your Yuhongyuan have to close down, but you must also shut your mouth completely."
As he said this, he half leaned over and looked at Sister Hong, his eyes flashing with a look that made people dare not look directly at him.
Sister Hong nodded hurriedly. She raised her handkerchief to wipe the sweat from her forehead and replied:
"I understand, but I've never seen anything like it. If you don't believe me, feel free to search."
A hint of coldness appeared at the corner of Leng Xi's mouth. He shook his sleeves, sat on the chair that Sister Hong had just sat on, and waited quietly for the searchers to come down.
An An was taken to the utility room by Lai Fu. He covered her mouth tightly, fearing that she would make any noise.
From outside came the sound of officers searching the room. Lai Fu whispered in her ear:
"Don't make any noise. These people are bad guys. If they find you here, you will die."
An An didn't believe it. She thought these people were officials from the capital, maybe their father's men. She wanted to go out and take a look, but she couldn't move. Her arms were clamped tightly by Lai Fu, and her mouth was also covered tightly by Lai Fu's hands.
The door outside was opened and several officers rushed in. They searched everywhere but couldn't find Lai Fu and An An.
Just as An An was thinking about how to make some noise, an officer said:
"Reporting to Prince Xi, there is no one here."
Prince Xi?
These three words made An An's heart instantly rise to her throat.
Could it be that Leng Xi was looking for him? Did he find out that he had escaped from Fanjiatun and come looking for him?
She held her breath in fear and dared not move.
Lai Fu heaved a sigh of relief until the noise outside died down, and whispered in her ear intimidatingly:
"Be quiet, or you're dead."
An An shook her head vigorously, signaling her not to make a sound. Lai Fu then loosened his sore hands. He quietly peeled away the pile of debris in front of him, and when he saw that there was no one outside, he stuck his head out.
