After Luo Lan brought Leng Xi's family to the main hall of Prince Yu's Mansion, she asked Agang to call all the children over, and everyone greeted Xiaobao one by one.
When he saw Yicheng, Xiaobao said "oh", pointed at him, and asked:
"Is he the new little beggar?"
Hearing this name, Yi Cheng lowered his head a little embarrassedly. An An immediately stepped forward and reminded him unhappily:
"He's not a little beggar, he's Yi Cheng's younger brother, you have to call him brother."
Xiaobao stuck out his tongue, and Yu Qiaoqiao came over to smooth things over.
"Xiaobao, don't be so rude. Say hello to Brother Yicheng."
Xiaobao grumbled and said reluctantly:
"Hello."
"Call me brother."
An An stood in front of him, hands on hips, and reminded him menacingly.
Xiaobao frowned and muttered softly:
"Brother Yicheng."
"That's more like it."
An An rolled her eyes at him, then looked at Yi Cheng.
"Yicheng, don't worry. If anyone dares to disrespect you in the future, I will be the first one to not forgive him."
It was obvious that she was saying this to Xiaobao. Although Luo Lan felt that An An was a bit impolite, she was still happy about it. An An was a sensible and righteous child, and this was something to be happy about.
"Acai, take the kids to the backyard to play!"
After Ah Cai nodded in agreement, without waiting for her to speak, the children trotted out.
She then instructed Agang:
"Bring tea."
"Yes, Princess."
After Ah Gang retreated, she gestured to Qiaoqiao,
"Please sit down!"
Yu Qiaoqiao sat down at her signal, and Leng Xi also sat beside her. Before they sat down, Luo Xue's voice rang out at the door.
"Sister, I heard there are guests at the mansion. I came to see them. Otherwise, wouldn't it be a bit rude?"
Seeing her, Yu Qiaoqiao stood up politely and greeted her with a smile.
"Princess Ming, you are so polite. This is the first time we have met since you got married."
Luo Xue also smiled at her and said:
"Princess Xi, we've met quite often before, so we're not strangers. Please take a seat!"
Yu Qiaoqiao nodded to her and sat down again.
Leng Xi, however, sat there without moving, looking at Luo Xue with a smug look on his face. Seeing her sit down, he teased her:
"Princess Ming looks well. It seems my sixth brother loves you very much."
As soon as Leng Xi said this, Luo Xue thought of the time when he took Leng Xi to Tianxiang Tower for a drink, and she instantly became furious.
She sneered disdainfully, then replied:
"I also want to thank Prince Xi for taking care of you. On Leng Ming's first day at work, you took him to Tianxiang Tower for a drink to celebrate. I was planning to go to Prince Xi's Mansion to express my gratitude, but I didn't expect to run into you here. Thank you here."
Leng Xi knew he was in the wrong, he cleared his throat and waved his hands awkwardly:
"What are you talking about, Princess Ming? I ran into my sixth brother on the road the other day. He hadn't had breakfast yet, so I thought I'd invite him over for a quick bite. But when he got there, he started complaining about feeling down and wanted to drink. I had no choice but to keep him company. But don't worry, he didn't drink too much that day. He even went to guard the city gate as usual."
"Is Leng Ming feeling depressed? Why didn't I hear him mention it? He seemed very happy when he left this morning. When he comes back later, I'd like to ask him what he's feeling depressed about and why."
Seeing that Luo Xue was a little excited, Leng Xi quickly raised his hand to suppress her.
"Princess Ming, don't get excited. Ming'er is a prince after all. It's inevitable that he will find it difficult to accept being asked to guard the city gate. Besides, there's been a lot of talk about this in the city recently. You should also consider his feelings."
Luo Xue curled her lips in disdain and responded indifferently:
"It's not him I can't accept, it's the other person's mouth. Some people just like to meddle in other people's affairs. Are they uncomfortable seeing other people having a good life? Or do they want to sow discord between them?"
Leng Xi saw that Luo Xue's words were suggestive, so he quickly swallowed his saliva and explained:
"You're being rather hypocritical. Who could possibly sow discord between you and your spouse? Anyway, I'm not that kind of person. I strongly support your marriage to Ming'er. I even asked someone in the court who's close to me to intercede with the Emperor on your behalf."
"Thank you, Prince Xi. I just want to remind you that from now on, do not take Leng Ming out for drinks without permission, and do not meet with him privately. He is my husband now, and he must listen to every word I say..."
"This... this is a bit ridiculous. You can't stop us brothers from meeting, right? Besides, if we meet, I won't let him suffer any loss."
"You won't let him suffer any harm, but I'm afraid he'll be influenced by bad company. We have a good relationship, but if he gets to know you more and learns your way of using harsh words against your wife, affecting our relationship, then it won't be worth it."
Luo Xue's words left Leng Xi speechless, and an ambiguous look flashed across Yu Qiaoqiao's face.
Luo Lan saw that the atmosphere was a little awkward, so he tried to smooth things over:
"Xue, Prince Xi is Ming'er's biological brother. No matter what, he hopes that you and Ming'er will be well. Let's not discuss this matter any further."
Luo Xue shrugged disdainfully, then stood up from the chair.
"I'm going to the backyard to check on the kids..."
After saying this, she raised her chin and glanced at Leng Xi, then turned around and walked towards the door.
Looking at her back, Leng Xi shrugged innocently.
"I just treated Ming'er to a drink, but you acted as if I wanted to harm Ming'er. This... this is really hard to explain."
