The emperor shook his head helplessly and desperately.
"A letter can't untie the knot in their hearts. They won't come back. I know they hate me in their hearts. I'm afraid they will never be able to untie this knot in their lifetime."
Having said this, he sighed and waved his hand:
"Never mind. I was just saying that. It doesn't matter if they don't come back. As long as I know that everything is going well for them, I will be satisfied."
Although he said this, Leng Yu and Luo Lan could see that there was expectation in his eyes.
The emperor looked at Luo Lan again and said seriously:
"Lan'er, I have two things to tell you. First, after you move into Kunning Palace, you must take good care of Yu'er as the head of the harem. He hasn't enjoyed much love from me since he came into this world, and I feel I owe him."
"Don't worry, Father. I will definitely take good care of Yu'er."
The emperor nodded slightly and continued:
"After Yu'er's enthronement ceremony is over, he will be enthroned as the Crown Prince. I still say that this position of Crown Prince belongs to Lele alone. You must not have any objections, understand?"
Luo Lan knew that the emperor was afraid that she would propose to pass the throne to Huaiyu, so he specifically mentioned this matter to her.
In fact, she had really considered giving the position of crown prince to Huaiyu when Leng Yu ascended the throne. Leng Yu was a little dissatisfied with this.
People are selfish. Although Leng Yu accepted Huaiyu, it does not mean that he can treat Huaiyu as his own son. More importantly, his father is Leng Yu's biggest enemy. How could he give the position of crown prince to the son of his enemy?
After careful consideration, Luo Lan felt that she should support Leng Yu's idea, so she bowed and replied:
"Don't worry, Your Majesty. Everything will be based on Leng Yu's opinion. I will not influence him."
The emperor nodded in satisfaction, then looked at Leng Yu and instructed again:
"Under your guidance, Huaiyu has become talented, knowledgeable, sensible, and grateful. I am very pleased with this. However, I am afraid that he will feel uncomfortable about the appointment of the Crown Prince. You must resolve his negative emotions in a timely manner."
This time, the emperor was very thoughtful. Luo Lan suddenly felt that this was probably what it meant when a dying man speaks good words.
Although Luo Lan provided the emperor with enough nutritional medicines, he was old and had underlying diseases. In the past few years, Leng Yu was in charge of the government affairs. In order to prove that he was strong and healthy, he pampered all the concubines in the harem to the point of no restraint. His body was also hollowed out, which led to a sharp decline in his body functions. Even Luo Lan, the miracle doctor, was unable to save him.
However, he was able to pass the throne to Leng Yu before his death, which actually surprised Leng Yu and Luo Lan.
In everyone's impression, the emperor has always been a selfish person. How could he possibly consider others?
What they didn't know was that the emperor did this because, firstly, Liu Xi strongly persuaded him, and secondly, he was afraid that Leng Yu would succeed to the throne after his death and would neglect Yu'er and the other two princes. He wanted him to promise him as the emperor not to treat his sons badly. A king's words are not a joke, and he believed that Leng Yu would do what he promised him as the emperor.
After coming out of the Yangxin Palace, Luo Lan was in a heavy mood. Leng Yu held her hand and asked carefully:
"Madam, what's wrong with you?"
Luo Lan looked ahead, the cold wind blowing in her face made her feel a little cold.
She shrank back, and Leng Yu quickly stood still, took off his cloak, put it on her, and said with concern:
"Be careful not to catch a cold."
Looking at the man in front of him who cared about him so much, Luo Lan felt warm in her heart and smiled at him.
"Husband, we can't escape this deep palace. Are we really going to move in this time?"
Leng Yu looked in the direction she was looking at, then nodded.
"Yes, we're moving in, but don't worry, I won't let you have any trouble here. You can go to Huichun Hall whenever you want, and go back to the Duke's Mansion whenever you want, just like before. I won't stop you, and I won't let those red tape restrict you."
Luo Lan took a long breath, muttering with a dim look in his eyes,
"I know you treat me well, but our identities are different now. Can you still do things the same way as before?"
Thinking of this, she felt a little depressed, but the facts were already established and there seemed no way to change them.
Leng Yu put his arm around her shoulders and comforted her as he walked forward:
"Since you came to my side, many rules have been changed. Although you will be the Queen of Daning Kingdom in half a month, I will issue an order as the Emperor. You can continue to do what you want. I don't want you to be bound by this so-called status. I want to see you happy every day."
His words always made her feel warm. She leaned her head on his shoulder and could clearly feel that although his body was straight, he was trembling.
She stood up straight, took off his cloak and handed it back to him.
"Husband, I'm not cold, you put it on."
"I'm not cold either. You're weak, so you should wear it."
"My husband, be obedient. If you refuse again, I will be angry."
Seeing that Luo Lan didn't seem to be joking, Leng Yu took the cloak from her hand and put it on again. Then he raised his hand and hugged her under the cloak, making her feel protected again...
Suddenly, snowflakes began to fall from the sky, like goose feathers, fluttering down. They felt cool on my face, and tingled on my neck.
