Ah Hou and two other men were taken to the mine. They followed the same procedure as Leng Yu did when he came. They first changed into coolie clothes and then found their own beds. The difference was that because they arrived early, they were not given time to breathe and were taken to the mine to work.
Ah Hou saw Leng Yu standing not far away. He wanted to move closer to him, but was stopped by the officials beside him.
"Hey, new guy, learn some rules and do your work honestly."
Ah Hou picked up the hammer and smashed the ore while looking at Leng Yu from time to time.
The two men who came with him were not so lucky. They were whipped by the officers because they were a little slow in doing the work.
Just as the Empress was about to go over to stop him, an official came over and stopped him.
"Do your job. Here, being tough will only lead to disadvantages."
Ah Hou hesitated for a moment, then thought of the purpose of her trip and immediately held back.
The officer who had just whipped the two men saw Ah Hou stop what he was doing, and immediately ran over angrily, raised his whip and prepared to hit her.
Ah Hou was quick to grab the end of his whip and then snorted softly.
"Sir, it's not nice to hit people for no reason. If you want us to work more, don't hurt us."
Although his words made sense, the officers simply refused to listen.
The officer holding the whip immediately roared at him.
"This is outrageous! If I don't beat you into submission, will you be able to work honestly? Let go immediately, or I will call for help."
Ah Hou's brows flickered slightly, then she stretched it hard and released the whip in her hand.
The officer lost his balance and fell to the ground.
He glared at Ah Hou in anger and then shouted,
"Someone come here, this man is going to rebel."
