Extra 5: The Fish Girl

Huaiyu was in a bad mood these days, and within two days, she finally fell ill.

Luo Lan brought the medicine to the bedside distressedly.

"Huaiyu, mother will feed you medicine."

Huaiyu hurriedly got up from the bed,

"Mom, I can drink it myself."

Luo Lan nodded and handed him the bowl of medicine. He tilted his head back and drank it.

Luo Lan took the medicine bowl and asked distressedly:

"Are you feeling okay? Your grandma wants to take you on a blind date tomorrow. Do you want her to turn it down?"

"Push it first. I really can't get up. I'll do it when I feel better."

"Okay, then let's reject Lele as well. The matchmaker your grandma found isn't very reliable. She might just be trying to scam people out of their money. It's better not to meet the girl she introduced."

"Thank you, mother. I can't go to the pharmacy these days. Thank you for your hard work, Lele."

"Brother, why are you being so polite? Go to sleep for a while. Mother is leaving now."

"good."

After Huaiyu nodded, Luo Lan walked out with the empty medicine bowl.

Xiaoling had been waiting outside the door. When she saw her come out, she anxiously went forward to ask,

"How is it? Can you get up?"

"Mom, do you want his life?"

"What are you talking about? I've already made an appointment, but he doesn't show up. How can I explain it?"

"Huaiyu is still running a fever and can't even get up. You should go back over there!"

"Then let Lele go. At least one of them can go."

"Le Le has to look after the pharmacy and is busy, so you can go back together!"

"But……"

"Mom, don't worry about it. Go check on my dad and Leng Yu when you have time. These two are going to fight again soon."

When mentioning this matter, Xiaoling shook her head helplessly.

"It's just a game of chess, but you keep arguing all day long. It's really annoying."

"Dad said that a chess game is like life. He is the Duke of Daning and he absolutely cannot lose.

Leng Yu said that a chess game is like a battlefield, and as a great war god, he cannot afford to lose. If these two people refuse to admit defeat, it will easily lead to disagreements!"

"Oh, forget it. I can't persuade her anyway. Out of sight, out of mind. I'd better go find the matchmaker and make another appointment!"

After saying this, she turned and left. Luo Lan hurriedly reminded her,

"Mom, don't make an appointment..."

But Xiaoling seemed not to have heard her at all and had already walked away.

Seven days later, Huaiyu's body finally recovered, but his mood was still very bad. Luo Lan, who didn't understand why, asked him several times, but he refused to tell the truth. He only said that he had a headache and did not tell the real reason.

Huaiyu has been very worried. Luo Lan guessed that based on his current state, something must have happened.

In order to find out the truth, she dressed herself up as a country woman and took A Cai out, intending to buy some things on the street.

They arrived at the Tongyou City Vegetable Market. Ah Cai pointed to a stall and said happily:

"Madam, there's a fish seller over there, let's go buy some!"

Luo Lan turned around and teased:

"Are you greedy?"

Ah Cai nodded repeatedly,

"Well, the fish that Butler Qin cooked himself last time was so delicious that I asked him to cook it this time."

While the master and servant were talking, they came to the fish stall. The girl selling fish didn't look very old, but her method of killing fish was very experienced.

She tied the fish in her hand and handed it to an old woman, then hurriedly called Luo Lan.

"Ma'am, are you buying fish? This is the last one left. I'll give it to you at a discount."

Luo Lan smiled softly,

"Okay, clean it up for me!"

The little girl had just caught the fish and was about to clean it up when someone stepped forward to stop her.

"I want this fish."

Hearing this, Ah Cai immediately looked at the man who looked to be in his forties or fifties with displeasure.

"We came here first, so we want this fish."

The man had two wisps of beard under his nose and small eyes, and looked like a shrewd man.

He glared at Ah Cai and pointed a finger at the fish girl.

"I'll give you an extra penny, and you can give me the fish."

Ah Cai pointed at the fish unwillingly.

"We'll add two more cents."

"I'll add three more cents."

"I'll add four more cents..."

“…”

Seeing the two people arguing, the girl selling fish simply raised her hand holding the fish and pressed it down.

"You two, stop arguing."

She then looked at the middle-aged man.

"Sir, I'm so sorry, but this lady came here first, so I have to sell this fish to her."

The middle-aged man looked at the fish-selling girl unwillingly.

"That won't do. I have an important guest to entertain at noon today, so I want to reserve this fish."

"But he came first, so please bear with me. Otherwise, if you come back tomorrow, I'll give you a discount."

"How can that be? I have guests at home today. If you give it to me for free tomorrow, I won't take it. Anyway, I want this fish."

As he spoke, he took out a piece of silver from his pocket.

"This ingot of silver is enough to buy you ten fish. I only want this one. Is that enough?"

Looking at the shining silver ingot, the fish girl's eyes were wide open, but she was still a little embarrassed.

"master……"

Luo Lan said directly:

"Girl, sell it to him, we'll come back tomorrow."

Ah Cai asked in a puzzled voice:

"Why should we let him?"

Luo Lan chuckled softly,

"The fishmonger is kind, so letting her earn more is a good deed."

"But……"

Seeing this, the fish girl nodded to Luo Lan and thanked him.

"Thank you, young lady. Thank you, young lady."
