Chapter 27 You are the eldest grandson

With his hand injured, how could Gong Chengjue play mahjong? Although playing mahjong usually involves only one hand, there are always times when both hands are used, such as when you want to win.

The man called Zuo Jing stood up. "I'll go out and make a phone call first. Young Master Gong, you can have fun."

Those present all came from prominent families, some from the capital and others from other provinces and cities.

These people usually get together occasionally, but there's not much fun to be had, so they just play a game of mahjong.

After the cards were shuffled, Gong Chengjue pretended to be unharmed, turned the cards forward, and then took the cards by himself.

Luo Jinhan stood outside, the sliding door already closed. Although he couldn't see Gong Chengjue, he could guess what was happening inside, and he felt even more anxious and worried.

"I won! I won! Chengjue, you're my lucky charm! You have no idea how many hands I've won tonight!" Sheng Yuanshuo was overjoyed with his wins, looking at Gong Chengjue. "Hey, why do you look so pale? I've won a few hands from you, do you really need to act like this?"

Gong Chengjue glanced at him indifferently, "Either don't win, or don't say anything."

"Then I still want to win," Sheng Yuanshuo said with a smile.

"Jinhan." Gong Chengjue suddenly called out to Luo Jinhan outside.

"Yes, Mr. Gong."

"I left my phone in the car, could you get it for me?"

“Okay, Mr. Gong.” Luo Jinhan walked back the way he came.

As I passed a house, I vaguely heard voices coming from inside, "Is your older brother here to play cards..."

Luo Jinhan frowned, then pretended not to have heard anything and walked out.

Luo Jinhan took the phone back and handed it to Gong Chengjue, whispering in his ear, "Young Master Zuo just made a phone call with the capital."

Gong Chengjue, expressionless, discarded the tile that was supposed to win.

Luo Jinhan: "..." He was wondering why Mr. Gong didn't try anything funny. It turns out Mr. Gong didn't want to try anything funny.

"I'm going to make a phone call." Gong Chengjue stood up and said to Zuo Jing, who had just come in, "Young Master Zuo, continue playing."

"Hey, wait a minute, Chengjue, I have something to tell you..." Sheng Yuanshuo called the butler to take his place and followed Gong Chengjue out of the card room.

Hu Shuo nudged Gong Chengjue's arm with his body, "Why are you having such bad luck tonight?"

Luo Jinhan, who was walking behind them, had her heart in her throat. Sheng Yuanshuo had accidentally bumped into the spot where Gong Chengjue was injured.

Gong Chengjue wasn't made of iron. No matter how good he was at disguising himself, the sudden pain made him frown.

Sheng Yuanshuo noticed immediately, "What's wrong?"

Luo Jinhan spoke up, "Young Master Sheng, Mr. Gong suffered..."

"Jinhan!" Gong Chengjue coldly stopped Luo Jinhan.

Sheng Yuanshuo immediately understood, his smile vanished, and he looked at Gong Chengjue with a serious face, saying, "Come with me."

Gong Chengjue remained unmoved.

Sheng Yuanshuo got annoyed. "Come here! Do you think I would trick you?"

Gong Chengjue followed Sheng Yuanshuo to his study. Sheng Yuanshuo looked at Gong Chengjue and asked, "What happened? Are you injured again? How dare they be so blatant over there now?!"

As he spoke, he seemed to want to tear Gong Chengjue's clothes off.

He'd only recovered from his injury a few days ago, and he's injured again. This frequency...

Gong Chengjue shook his head, "It's nothing much, it was an accident."

Upon hearing this, Sheng Yuanshuo scoffed, "Luo Jinhan protects you at all times, and you yourself are quite skilled. How could an accident possibly hurt you?"

Seeing his friend's overly anxious expression, Gong Chengjue could only explain, "It was indeed an accident. He was injured while saving Ziqing."

"Ziqing?" Sheng Yuanshuo took a beat to react. "Holy crap, you and Su Ziqing really..."

Gong Chengjue remained silent.

Sheng Yuanshuo was stunned, and it took him a while to find his tongue before he said, "I thought you were joking."

Gong Chengjue glanced at him.

"The ring is really in her hands? Why don't you just ask her to return it? Don't make it seem like you really want to... marry her?" Sheng Yuanshuo slapped his forehead with one hand, and then grabbed his hair with the other.

“Chengjue, the reason I called you here is to advise you to listen to your family's arrangements and…”

"Yuan Shuo," Gong Chengjue said directly to Sheng Yuan Shuo, "you should know very well why I came to City A."

“I understand, but you can’t fight city hall. Aren’t you just making your father disappointed in you by doing this?” Sheng Yuanshuo really wanted to punch Gong Chengjue on the head to wake him up.

Gong Chengjue chuckled, “You don’t understand my old man at all. Although he likes people to be obedient, he cares more about results.”

Sheng Yuanshuo, “But…”

"I will never marry someone arranged by my family." Marriage is his greatest conviction.

Gong Chengjue said calmly, "If I can't even control my own marriage, then I don't need to stay in this family."

"Chengjue, are you serious?" Sheng Yuanshuo looked into Gong Chengjue's eyes, and indeed saw determination in them.

Giving up on persuasion, he offered a suggestion: "Then don't choose the Su family either. Let me tell you, I heard that Su Ziqing has a broken palm."

"What does it matter?" So what if I have a broken palm?

Sheng Yuanshuo was so shocked by his nonchalant attitude that his worldview collapsed once again. "What does it matter?! Your old man believes in all this stuff, a broken palm line, a broken palm line is bad luck for relatives!"

"Ridiculous." Gong Chengjue rolled his eyes at Sheng Yuanshuo.

"Isn't it better to believe something is true than not to believe it is?" Sheng Yuanshuo paced back and forth.

Gong Chengjue remained completely unmoved; it was truly a case of the emperor not being worried while the eunuch was.

"The Gong family will definitely not agree. Aren't you planning to go against them?" Sheng Yuanshuo felt like he was a mother hen worrying about everything.

"You called me here in such a hurry just to say this?" He might as well have gone with Su Ziqing to meet Su Tianhao instead.

Sheng Yuanshuo paced back and forth, then bit his lip. "You were just playing around, weren't you?"

Gong Chengjue shook his head solemnly.

"Oh my god, I'm going crazy. What is it about Su Ziqing that attracts you so much?" How come you're so determined to marry her in such a short time?

You don't understand.

"I don't understand," Sheng Yuanshuo said irritably.

"It's late, I need to go back." Gong Chengjue stood up.

"Wait, I haven't gotten to the important matter yet," Sheng Yuanshuo called out to him.

Gong Chengjue: "..." Having a friend who likes to talk nonsense is really a waste of time.

"Next month, you must return to the capital to attend the old man's birthday banquet." Sheng Yuanshuo said this without a trace of a smile, his expression extremely serious.

Gong Chengjue, however, showed no interest. "We'll see," he said.

“I heard from my grandfather that your grandfather has something important to announce.” Sheng Yuanshuo wanted to pat Gong Chengjue’s shoulder, but was afraid of touching his wound, so he withdrew his hand halfway through the gesture.

"Chengjue, you are the eldest grandson of the Gong family." Sheng Yuanshuo reminded him in a serious tone.
