Chapter 4 Being Schemed Against

Gong Chengjue stared intently at her, his deep eyes like a bottomless pool trying to draw her in. Su Ziqing straightened her back, stood up straighter, and met his gaze without fear.

"Then I'll have to have your grandfather agree on your behalf." He curled his thin lips slightly, but his words carried an unpleasant threat.

"Gong Chengjue, what are you doing?" Grandpa is old and can't handle any kind of stimulation.

"Miss Su, all you need to know is that your grandfather will agree to this marriage," he said calmly.

Su Ziqing's face darkened as she listened. "Gong Chengjue, this is coercion."

“No, this is called… a business marriage.” Gong Chengjue raised his hand and brushed a strand of hair that had fallen beside her ear. “Miss Su, have you changed your mind?”

She raised her hand to slap away his improper hand, but he grabbed it instead, enveloping her delicate hand in his and letting her feel his warm body temperature.

She struggled, but he held on tighter.

Su Ziqing laughed in anger, "Mr. Gong is surrounded by dangers, and asking me to be his fiancée at this time is just too petty, isn't it?"

He replied calmly, "With Miss Su's skills, those are not problems at all. Besides, Miss Su, your own life is not peaceful either."

"Heh." She scoffed coldly.

He leaned forward slightly, and Su Ziqing tried to physically resist, yes, to the spot where he had the wound, but he easily subdued her. Gong Chengjue's eyes were cold, "Ziqing is a bit ruthless."

"So you still want me to be your fiancée?! Are you crazy?"

"I like it." Their faces drew close, as if they were back in the underground parking garage that night. The domineering aura of the man wafted over, and Su Ziqing's face flushed red, whether from anger or embarrassment, she didn't know.

Seeing the annoyance in her eyes, he deliberately brushed his lips lightly, like a dragonfly skimming the water.

"Grandpa, Grandpa!" A loud shout suddenly came from the living room. Su Ziqing pushed Gong Chengjue aside and ran into the living room.

There was a pool of blood on the living room floor. Old Master Su was slumped in a chair, unconscious. Su Ziqing was completely bewildered by the scene. What happened?

"Grandpa, Grandpa."

Gong Chengjue followed him in and saw the slumped-down Old Master Su. He frowned when he saw some dark red bloodstains at the corner of his mouth and took a step forward.

"What are you doing!" Su Ziqing shouted at him sharply.

Gong Chengjue met her gaze, then gently placed his hand under Old Master Su's nose...

"Gong Chengjue, don't touch my grandfather." Su Ziqing tried to push him away so he wouldn't touch Old Master Su.

"Old Master Su... has passed away." Gong Chengjue cruelly uttered these words.

"Shut up! No, it's all your fault. Did you say something to my grandfather? Did you upset him?" Su Ziqing lost her temper and tried to hit Gong Chengjue, but he easily grabbed her wrist.

Gong Chengjue calmly reminded her in a low voice, "Your grandfather has been ill for quite some time now, and the blood at the corner of his mouth is dark red."

Su Ziqing was stunned. What did it mean that Grandpa had been sick for quite some time? She looked at the corner of Grandpa Su's mouth and saw that there was indeed dark red blood. What was he implying?

"Grandpa, Grandpa!" Old Madam Su stumbled over and, seeing that Grandpa Su was unconscious, she collapsed onto him and cried loudly.

With this sudden incident at the Su family, it was no longer appropriate for Gong Chengjue to stay, so he bid farewell to Su Ziqing and left.

Gong Chengjue's expression darkened slightly as he walked out of the Su family's house.

"Jinhan," he said coldly.

"Yes, Mr. Gong."

"Send someone to keep an eye on the Su family." With that, he got into the back seat of the car.

"Mr. Gong?" Luo Jinhan asked, somewhat puzzled.

Su Shilin has passed away.

Luo Jinhan was slightly taken aback. Old Master Su had passed away? So suddenly?

…………………………

Inside the living room, Su Ziqing was still processing the meaning behind Gong Chengjue's words.

She looked at Madam Su and asked, "Grandpa has been ill for quite some time now? Why didn't Grandpa tell her? No wonder he was so eager to summon her back to the country."

Old Madam Su did not answer her question. She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, stood up, and looked at her with disgust. "You are the person he loves most, yet you ask me such a question. Su Ziqing, don't you find it ridiculous?"

Su Ziqing looked in the direction of Old Master Su, her eyes filled with sadness, but...

"What illness does Grandpa have?" Even an acute illness should have a process of onset, but Grandpa's condition at this moment seems more like... sudden death!

As she spoke, she took a step closer, but Old Madam Su blocked her way and called someone in, "Take her away."

Seeing the two male bodyguards walk in, Su Ziqing frowned. "Stop!"

“Su Ziqing, the moment you appeared in this family, there was no peace. You caused the deaths of your parents, and now even your grandfather has been killed by you. A person like you should stay in one place and not bring bad luck to others.” Old Madam Su spoke clearly, as if the death of Old Master Su was caused by Su Ziqing’s return.

She gestured for her two bodyguards to step forward, all prepared for this moment, and she couldn't allow any mistakes to happen.

Su Ziqing stepped back and looked at the maid, "Call an ambulance!"

Madam Su's expression changed slightly as she looked at the two men who still couldn't catch her. "Why aren't you grabbing her now? We've paid you, surely you can catch a girl?"

Su Ziqing got into a fight with the two bodyguards, but unfortunately, she was wearing a dress today, which made it difficult for her to move. More importantly, compared to her complete lack of preparation, Old Madam Su seemed to have anticipated what was going to happen.

The two sides argued for a while. Su Ziqing stepped back to where the maid was standing. Before she could react, she was hit on the back of the head. She looked at the maid who attacked her and felt very dizzy. Two men stepped forward and easily grabbed her. Before she lost consciousness, she saw the old lady's cold sneer.

…………………………

Su Ziqing slowly woke up and found herself surrounded by white. The ceiling was white, the walls were white, and the room was small with nothing but a bed.

She tried to move her hands, only to find herself tied to a narrow iron bed.

Unable to move her hands and feet, she heard a thumping sound whenever she struggled.

"What's all the noise about?" A male doctor in a white coat opened the iron door with a roguish air and looked at Su Ziqing, who was struggling on the bed.

Despite the cold weather, Su Ziqing wasn't wearing a coat, only a sweater and jeans. Her long, slender legs were on full display, drawing lustful glances from the male doctor.

Su Ziqing looked at the male doctor and asked, "Who are you? Where is this?"

"Where do you think the madman lives?" The male doctor stepped forward and pinched her chin. "Smooth skin, no wonder she comes from a wealthy family. It's a pity, madness doesn't discriminate between rich and poor."

I finally understood the meaning behind the old lady's cold, sarcastic smile.

Su Ziqing felt so disgusted that she got goosebumps, but she still had to lower herself and say, "Let me out, and I'll give you a million dollars as a reward."
