Chapter 61 Don't you know how to please me?

"The old man looks at me like I'm taking advantage of your family, like I'm extorting you. If I said no, you wouldn't believe me, would you?" Su Ziqing was a little angry, and her tone was no longer polite.

I just heard from those two women that Gong Chengjue has indeed been cut off from all contact with the outside world.

Thinking of this, Su Ziqing blurted out, "I'm here, of course, to kidnap your precious grandson, Gong Chengjue." She then deliberately paused, "That's what you're thinking, isn't it?"

Mr. Gong frowned; this girl wasn't afraid of him at all.

He snorted coldly, "Miss Su, the most valuable thing about a person is to know their own limitations. With your status, you are not worthy of my inheritance."

"Mr. Gong, you jest. You should be saying that to your grandson." If Gong Chengjue was willing to let her leave, then she would...

“My family is not prominent, and we are indeed worlds apart from the Gong family,” Su Ziqing said sincerely.

"But..." She couldn't go against Gong Chengjue's wishes.

Su Ziqing almost blurted out something inappropriate, but thankfully she stopped herself halfway through and realized that her character should be someone who falls in love with Gong Chengjue at first sight, feels like they've known each other for ages, and is determined to marry no one but him.

So she quickly changed her tone, "But old man... love has no boundaries."

Su Ziqing felt that the car was turning a little too fast, and she almost fell off.

Grandpa Gong thought she really had self-awareness, but when he heard her say something about having no boundaries, he snorted coldly, "You like my Chengjue?"

"……Um."

“That’s true. My Chengjue is so outstanding, no girl wouldn’t like him.” Old Master Gong nodded in agreement, seemingly very pleased to hear Su Ziqing’s fondness for Gong Chengjue.

Huh? Why did the art style suddenly change?

Su Ziqing looked at Mr. Gong with some curiosity.

"Then tell me, what do you like about Chengjue?" Old Master Gong glanced at Su Ziqing, "Come and walk with me."

Su Ziqing: "..." In this freezing weather, shouldn't you stop walking? Can she not accompany him?

Wasn't he just blaming her? Why did he suddenly change his tune with her?

It's as abrupt as if two people who were fighting suddenly put their arms around each other and started singing "Friends".

"What are you standing there for? If you want to join our Gong family, don't you know you have to please me?" Old Master Gong sneered.

I was just praising her for her quick wit, and now her tongue has been caught by a cat.

Su Ziqing had no choice but to step forward.

For some reason, I ended up accompanying Mr. Gong to the artificial lake.

The capital is in the north, and the Gong family villa is in the mountains. A gust of wind blew by, and she shivered from the cold.

"Grandpa, it's cold, shall we go inside?" She was fine with it, but Mr. Gong was getting on in years, and it would be troublesome if he caught a cold.

"What do you like about my Chengjue?" Old Mr. Gong was fixated on the question from before.

Su Ziqing had already prepared her speech, "Handsome and rich, considerate and gentle, capable of both strength and gentleness..." She listed many of his advantages.

Mr. Gong chuckled upon hearing this. "Handsome and rich, I agree. Considerate and gentle? Miss Su, can't you find a better way to praise me?"

Does he not even know his own grandson?

Gong Chengjue was never considerate or gentle.

Su Ziqing, however, looked very serious. "Grandpa, what I'm saying is exactly what I saw of Gong Chengjue."

"Heh." Old Mr. Gong glanced at her.

He really liked the girl, but her family background was too poor.

"Grandpa doesn't believe me?" Su Ziqing wasn't annoyed by his disbelieving expression. "Then Grandpa, just take it as me lying."

"Grandpa." Hurried footsteps came from behind, interrupting their conversation.

The butler noticed the unfamiliar girl beside Mr. Gong and seemed a little surprised, but didn't show it. "The banquet is about to begin, and it's cold outside. Let's go back first."

Mr. Gong waved his hand, signaling the butler to step back.

Then, looking at Su Ziqing with a serious expression, he asked, "Miss Su, do you really like my Chengjue that much?"

Su Ziqing lowered her eyes. "Yes."

"Chengjue told me about your relationship, he even said he wanted to marry you." Old Master Gong stared at her intently. "Do you have anything to say?"

When Su Ziqing heard from Mr. Gong that Gong Chengjue had already proposed to her, she was not surprised at all.

They probably felt that things would come to this point.

“I’ll listen to him,” she said.

“Our Gong family is large and has many relatives. Miss Su, are you sure you can handle it?” Old Mr. Gong gently tapped his cane.

Before Su Ziqing could say anything, he continued, "Even if I agree to your marriage, once you marry into our Gong family, what help can you offer Chengjue with your status? For aristocratic families like ours, background is more important."

“Miss Su, if you truly love my Chengjue, then you should advise him to let go.” Mr. Gong gave her a deep look, then turned and walked away.

Su Ziqing pondered these words, then said to his retreating figure, "Grandpa, if you could persuade him to let go, you wouldn't need to say all this to me, would you?"

Upon hearing this, Mr. Gong stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her.

Even though they were some distance apart, and he was wearing reading glasses, Su Ziqing really couldn't read the meaning in his eyes.

She thought he would say something more, but he just glanced at her a few times, said nothing more, and turned to leave.

Su Ziqing: "..."

However, in just a few words of conversation, she noticed a sign: the patriarch of the Gong family, Old Master Gong, really doted on his eldest grandson, Gong Chengjue.

Moreover, judging from what Mr. Gong said, it was quite obvious that he had already 'opposed' the situation, but Gong Chengjue was going his own way, and he didn't seem to have any strong intention to oppose it to the end.

Why?

If the marriage alliance is really that important to Gong Chengjue, why doesn't Old Master Gong say, "I'm doing this for your own good" and insist that Gong Chengjue go through with the marriage alliance?

It seems that this Mr. Gong is not so unreasonable after all?

This surprised Su Ziqing somewhat.

Su Ziqing calculated that it was about time, and then walked back towards the banquet hall.

"Stop!" Just as Su Ziqing was about to enter the banquet hall, a slightly shrill female voice rang out from the side.

Su Ziqing didn't realize at first that she was being called, since she didn't know anyone here.

She ignored him and continued forward...

"I told you to stop, didn't you hear me!" The girl strode over in her high heels. Despite the cold weather, she hadn't put on a coat and was standing outside in her summer dress.

Su Ziqing stopped in her tracks and turned to look at the girl who had walked up to her.

The girl was more than half a head taller than her, with exquisite makeup and a diamond necklace that sparkled like stars. She looked at the necklace around Su Ziqing's neck and asked, "Who are you?"

Su Ziqing laughed, "Miss, if you don't recognize me, why did you tell me to stop?"
