Taking a walk with Yingzhi
Ever since Xinyu confessed to Yingzhi that she might never be able to return to her original world, these evening walks have become the most precious ritual between them.
"The wind is so gentle today," Xin Yu said softly, her fingers unconsciously twisting Ying Zhi's sleeve.
Yingzhi stopped and took a thermos from her pocket: "Have some hot cocoa to warm your hands."
"Thank you so much, you've put in a lot of effort," Xinyu said.
"You know what?" Eichi suddenly said, gazing at the distant clock tower, "Every time we walk together, I think of the time we lay on the grass in Hoshino, watching the stars."
Xin Yu's lips curled up slightly as she recalled the night Ying Zhi played "Hoshino Renka" for her.
Tears of emotion welled in Yingzhi's eyes as he gently pulled Xinyu into his arms: "Thank you, Xinyu. Your decision makes me even more certain that no matter what the future holds, I will be by your side."
Xin Yu's cheeks flushed slightly. She remembered how, back in Hoshino, Eiji had picked a wildflower for her and tucked it into her hair. The sunlight then was as warm as the twilight now. She gently took Eiji's hand: "You're always so thoughtful."
A distant bell tolled, reminding them it was dinnertime. Yingzhi led Xinyu to a restaurant near the school, decorated in a warm and romantic style.
"Did you have a good day?" Yingzhi asked softly, her eyes full of concern.
Xinyu smiled and nodded: "I'm very happy. Every day with you is happy." She picked up a fork, cut a piece of cake, but deliberately left the strawberries for Yingzhi.
Yingzhi smiled, took the strawberry, and put it in her mouth: "It's sweet, just like you."
Tears welled in Xinyu's eyes as she gently nodded, "I do, Yingzhi. No matter what the future holds, I will stay by your side."
Yingzhi took a delicate little box from his pocket. Inside was a ring engraved with the word "Forever." He gently placed the ring on Xinyu's finger: "This is our promise. No matter what difficulties we encounter, we will walk hand in hand."
Xin Yu's tears finally streamed down her face. She gently grasped Ying Zhi's hand: "Thank you, Ying Zhi. I will always remember this promise."
As night fell, the two strolled through the campus. The streetlights along the roadside lit up one by one, casting long shadows of them. Yingzhi suddenly stopped, took out a delicate little box from her pocket, and opened it to reveal a pair of couple bracelets.
"This is our token." He gently placed the bracelet on their wrists. "Wherever you are, I will find you; whether you can return or not, I will stay by your side."
Happiness shone in Xinyu's eyes as she gently leaned on Yingzhi's shoulder: "Yingzhi, I love you."
"I love you too, Xinyu," Yingzhi replied softly, her eyes full of tenderness.
Under the starry sky of Yumenosaki, their love, like the autumn maple leaves, has blossomed with even more splendid colors despite the hardships they have endured.
The strawberry cake under the cherry blossom tree became the sweetest chapter in their love story. In the days to come, no matter what difficulties they encounter, they will walk hand in hand, creating their own happiness together. Because love can transcend all boundaries; because love can bind two people from different worlds together.
