Han Feng returned to the hotel lobby with his coffee cup, his gaze casually sweeping over the reception area. Of the three people who had been arguing there just a few minutes ago, only Ota Takeshi remained, wiping the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief, his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty.
Han Feng chose a seat where he could clearly hear the conversation at the front desk and slowly stirred his black coffee. Ota Takeshi returned to the two men in suits, and the atmosphere between the three became noticeably more tense.
"Ikegami-sama, this is a lousy ...
One of the men slammed the front desk desk, shaking the computer monitor: \"Baga! Private たちはVIpだ! このようないをReceive けるべきではない!\"
Han Feng's Japanese was good enough to understand this angry declaration. He took a sip of coffee, concealing a cold smile. It seemed Liu Xiaoran was right; there appeared to be some conflict between these families, and they weren't a united front.
Takeshi Ohta's face turned pale. He looked around to make sure that no other guests noticed the commotion here, and then approached the two of them, with a threat in his voice: \"もし続けて騒ぐなら, Matsui 様にreport するしかありません.\"
The name "Matsui" was like a bucket of ice water, instantly extinguishing the two men's anger. Their bodies visibly stiffened for a moment; though they were still muttering their discontent, their momentum had weakened. Finally, the two glared at Ota Takeshi with sinister eyes and left the hall dejectedly.
Takeshi Ota let out a long sigh and straightened his crooked tie. As he turned around, his gaze met that of Han Feng, who was sitting in the lounge area. Han Feng pretended to have just noticed him and nodded in a friendly manner.
A flicker of doubt crossed Ota Takeshi's eyes as he quickly walked over. Han Feng could tell he was assessing whether he had overheard the conversation.
"This...uh, sir," Takeshi Ota switched to broken Chinese, beads of sweat glistening on his forehead under the light, "I remember you're a member of the Chinese delegation, right? Why aren't you resting in your room?"
Han Feng deliberately feigned a slightly confused expression and slowly replied in Chinese, "Mr. Ota, my name is Zhang Qian." He paused, as if considering how to phrase it, "It's a bit stuffy in the room, I came down to buy a coffee."
Ota Takeshi's gaze lingered on Han Feng's face, his professional smile unable to conceal the scrutiny in his eyes. Han Feng met his gaze calmly, even leaning forward slightly to show his curiosity about what had just happened.
"Was Mr. Ota arguing with the guests just now?" Han Feng asked, deliberately feigning indignation. "They seemed very rude to the organizers."
Ota Takeshi's pupils contracted slightly, clearly assessing how much Han Feng had understood. Han Feng maintained a perfectly measured expression of confusion.
"Oh...it's just that the two guests wanted to change rooms," Takeshi Ota blurted out in Japanese, quickly correcting himself, "For this summit, the upper floors were all booked by our X-Star Company. They...uh, I don't quite understand."
"I see." Han Feng nodded, feigning understanding, then glanced at his watch. "It's getting late; I should go back to my room to prepare for tonight's dinner."
"See you at the dinner, Mr. Zhang." Takeshi Ota bowed a perfect fifteen-degree angle, but his eyes still held a probing look.
Han Feng returned a polite smile and turned to walk towards the elevator. He could feel Ota Takeshi's gaze following him until the elevator doors closed.
As the elevator ascended, Han Feng's mind raced. It seemed that all the families mentioned in the intelligence report about the gene lab were present: the Miyamoto family, supported by the Matsui family; the Ikegami family, allied with the Miyamoto family; and the Makino family, whom he had just encountered at the hotel entrance. All three families were there.
With a "ding," the elevator arrived at his floor. Han Feng stepped out of the elevator, and after confirming that no one was in the corridor, he quickly took out his phone and sent an encrypted message to Su Wanwan and Liu Xiaoran:
Once you get back, come to my room immediately to meet up.

Soon after, Liu Xiaoran and Su Wanwan returned. Han Feng invited them into the room and, looking at the two of them, spoke first: "Tell me what you just got."
Liu Xiaoran said, "There are some anomalies in the Chishang family's gene lab." As he spoke, he took three folders from his backpack and placed them on the table. "Relevant information about the areas surrounding the three target locations for this operation is all here."
Han Feng opened the first document, a detailed topographical map of the area surrounding the Muye family's gene laboratory, with even the angles and blind spots of each surveillance camera clearly marked in red. Tucked in the middle was a stack of photos showing the entry and exit of personnel and vehicles at different times.
"The Makino family has the tightest defenses, but there's a loophole," Liu Xiaoran said, pointing to a sewer entrance on the map. "Their underground pipe network is connected to the municipal system, and there's an access point here that leads directly to the second basement level of the laboratory. Guards patrol every two hours, with a 12-minute interval."
Han Feng carefully examined the photos: "These people don't seem to be ordinary security personnel."
"These are members of the Makino family. Although they use the shopping mall as a cover, the key entrances and exits are actually staffed by Makino family guards." Liu Xiaoran pointed to the waist of the person in the photo. "Besides, what ordinary security personnel would be equipped with submachine guns?"
Turning to the second document, Han Feng frowned. The photos of the exterior of the Ikegami family's laboratory showed several doctors in white coats helping several dazed patients into the hospital. Most striking was a close-up of one of the photos: a researcher's wristwatch was slightly different from the others.
"The Ikegami family's research lab is under the hospital?" Han Feng looked up.
Liu Xiaoran nodded: "And look at this guy, he has the latest neural suppressor, capable of detecting a high-frequency electromagnetic pulse every hour, covering the entire lab. I risked getting within 200 meters, and my headphones were filled with static." He pointed to his temple, "This thing is more advanced than the neural suppressor from Country R described in Longyuan's intelligence; it might already be in its third generation."
When he opened the third document from the Miyamoto Laboratory, his eyes were drawn to the person in the photo. It was the same Miyamoto family member he had just met downstairs at the hotel.
Liu Xiaoran explained, "This is Makino Tenki, the head of the Miyamoto family's gene laboratory."
"Is the other person in front of him a high-ranking member of their family?" Han Feng zoomed in on the photo, trying to make out the person next to him.
"The current head of the Miyamoto family is Miyamoto Ichikawa." Liu Xiaoran barely moved his lips as he uttered the name. "I've discovered that recently, the head of the Miyamoto family has been coming to this hotel almost every day at the same time. The laboratory is located in the hotel's basement, and each time he stays for more than an hour. I suspect the Matsui family has new plans for them."
Han Feng spread all the data out on the table, quickly ranking the threats posed by the three laboratories in his mind. The Makino family had the strongest armed forces, but the terrain offered a breach; the Ikegami family's neural control technology was the most dangerous; and the direct involvement of the Miyamoto family's high-ranking members meant that the experiments might involve the family's core secrets.
