"Go up." Han Feng gently pushed her.
Music began to play, and the carousel started to spin. Dongfang Wantang's white dress fluttered slightly in the wind. She held onto the golden pillar with one hand and waved to the three people outside the railing with the other, her smile pure and untouched by any gloom.
"Let's go too!" Su Wanwan grabbed Liu Mengran and rushed towards the other rocking horses.
Han Feng stood on the periphery, raising his phone to record the moment. In the lens, Dongfang Wantang's smiling face, Liu Mengran's flowing hair, Su Wanwan's exaggerated funny face, along with the colorful carousel and sunlight, created a perfect picture.
The last stop was the Ferris wheel. The setting sun bathed the entire amusement park in gold, and the four of them squeezed into one carriage. When they reached the highest point, Han Feng took out his phone: "Come on, let's take a picture together."
Three girls crowded around, their four smiling faces squeezed in front of the camera. Han Feng deliberately adjusted the angle, making the sunset outside the window the background.
"Three, two, one—"
\"eggplant!\"
The shutter clicked, freezing the moment. Dongfang Wantang looked at the photo preview, her eyes slightly red—now, a photo with her could be placed on the coffee table.
The Ferris wheel slowly descended back to the ground, the afterglow of the setting sun casting long shadows of the four people. They followed the flow of people toward the exit, each still immersed in the awe-inspiring view from above.
"I could ride that roller coaster ten more times!" Su Wanwan gestured excitedly, "My heart would jump out of my chest during the plunge!"
Liu Mengran smiled and shook her head: "I can't, my legs are still weak."
Dongfang Wantang followed quietly behind, carefully holding the gift Han Feng had bought for her, as if it were a precious treasure.
Right at the exit, a little girl, about four or five years old, suddenly broke free from her parents' hands, pointed at them, and exclaimed in a childish voice, "Mommy, Daddy, look! Those older sisters are so pretty! Like princesses!"
The three girls were all taken aback. The little girl, with pigtails and a puffy skirt, looked exactly like a porcelain doll. She was being led by her parents' hands, her big eyes blinking as she looked at the plush toy in their arms.
"Little one, you have great taste!" Su Wanwan was the first to react, squatting down to stuff the giant teddy bear she had just won into the girl's arms. "This is for you!"
Liu Mengran gently took the elf keychain off her bag: "This glows! You can put it by your bedside as a nightlight."
Dongfang Wantang hesitated for a moment, then handed over the piece she had been reluctant to eat: "It's very sweet..."
The little girl was overwhelmed by the unexpected gift, her face flushed with joy. Hugging the teddy bear that was almost bigger than herself, she said in her sweet, childlike voice, "Thank you, Princess Sister!"
The three girls were amused and took turns rubbing the little girl's chubby cheeks, making her giggle. The girl's parents thanked them profusely, and the heartwarming scene brought smiles to the faces of the surrounding tourists.
On the way back, the girls were still excitedly discussing: "That baby was so cute! His eyes were round and bright like grapes!"
"Your skin is so nice, it feels like pudding when you pinch it~"
"She called us princesses! Kids these days are so sweet-talking!"
Han Feng glanced at the three chatting animatedly in the rearview mirror and suddenly interjected, "Since you like it so much, why don't you give me one too?"
The car fell into a deathly silence.
Three seconds later, the explosive sound almost blew the roof off the car:
"Han Feng, are you trying to die?!" Su Wanwan grabbed his neck, her face turning bright red.
Liu Mengran, embarrassed, covered his mouth: "What nonsense are you talking about!"
Even the most demure Dongfang Wantang angrily pounded the back of his chair: "That's right, you're not allowed to talk nonsense!"
"Oh, just kidding!" Han Feng laughed as he dodged, "I was just saying with your genes, your kids will definitely be as cute as porcelain dolls..."
"You still dare to talk back!" Three pillows were thrown at his head at the same time.
The car erupted into chaos. Su Wanwan tried to strap Han Feng to the driver's seat with the seatbelt, Liu Mengran tickled him with a flushed face, and Dongfang Wantang angrily ruffled his hair into a bird's nest. Han Feng begged for mercy while dodging, and the car swerved slightly across the road.
"Okay, okay, I was wrong!" Han Feng finally surrendered. "If you keep causing trouble, you'll get into a car accident!"
The girls finally stopped angrily, returned to their seats, and tidied their clothes and hair. The only sounds in the carriage were soft moans and someone's gloating chuckle.
The sun had completely sunk below the horizon, and the streetlights lit up one by one. Han Feng looked at the three girls through the rearview mirror—Su Wanwan was still muttering, "I'll make you pay when we get back," Liu Mengran's ears were still flushed, and Dongfang Wantang pretended to look out the window but couldn't hide the smile on her lips.
He subtly slowed down, prolonging the noisy journey home a little. The car radio was playing upbeat pop songs, and the evening breeze, carrying the warmth of early summer, blew through the car window.
At this moment, there was no Star Soul Lord, no powerful enemies from beyond the realm, only four ordinary young people bickering and playing on their way home. And Han Feng knew that it was precisely these ordinary moments that were worth protecting with all his strength.
As the villa's lights came into view at the edge of her field of vision, Liu Mengran suddenly whispered, "Actually... that baby's eyes just now looked a bit like yours."
The other two girls suddenly fell silent, and only love songs from the radio were playing in the carriage.
Han Feng tightened his grip on the steering wheel slightly, and the rearview mirror reflected the slight upturn of his lips.
"Really? Then from now on..."
"Shut up!" Three sharp shouts rang out simultaneously, accompanied by another flying pillow.
---This is the dividing line---
Han Feng soon drove back to the villa. Liu Mengran habitually walked towards the kitchen, but Han Feng gently grabbed her wrist.
"I'll do it today." He took the shopping bag from her, a smile playing on his lips. "Didn't that young lady complain this morning that she hadn't tasted my cooking in ages?"
Su Wanwan, who was kicking off her high heels, immediately looked up upon hearing this: "Huh? You heard that?"
"Someone has such a loud voice, it's impossible not to hear them." Han Feng teased, dodging a flying slipper, and carrying the groceries into the kitchen. Soon after, the sounds of running water and the rhythmic chopping of vegetables came from behind the frosted glass door.
The three girls exchanged a knowing smile and collapsed onto the sofa in perfect unison. Their amusement park spoils were scattered all over the floor—stuffed animals, oversized cartoon headbands, souvenir t-shirts with the haunted house logo...
"Where's my limited edition badge?" Dongfang Wantang knelt on the carpet, rummaging through her backpack, a few strands of hair still clinging to her hair. "It was clearly in the inside pocket..."
A slender, pale hand reached out to her, holding a wooden photo frame in its palm. Liu Mengran tilted her head and chuckled softly: "Looking for this?"
The photo frame contains a picture of them together in front of the Ferris wheel: Han Feng is sandwiched between three girls making funny faces, Su Wanwan jumps up and makes a peace sign, and is captured as a blurry shadow, Liu Mengran smiles and leans on his shoulder, while Dongfang Wantang... is secretly glancing at Han Feng's profile, her eyes and brows revealing undisguised joy.
