Chapter 57 Speaking too fast can easily lead to misunderstandings

After dinner, after seeing off Wang Hao, who was wailing about "having no humanity when it comes to women," Han Feng called Qin Chuan.

"Book me three plane tickets to Jiang City for Friday," Han Feng said, looking out the window.

"Okay, in the morning?" Qin Chuan replied.

Han Feng pondered for a moment, then remembered that he had promised Liu Mengran that he would come to the company on Friday afternoon. "How about tonight? I'll come to the company this afternoon."

Qin Chuan on the other end of the phone was visibly taken aback: "Is something the matter?"

"I'll introduce you to someone; you can decide on a position for them."

"Okay, I'll let you know your name in advance."

"Liu Mengran, my classmate."

"Arrange for her to be your secretary?" Qin Chuan said smugly.

"...It's not what you think. Let her have some decision-making power. Apart from you, she has absolute power and she has the ability to do so."

Qin Chuan had no doubt about Han Feng's words: "Okay, I understand."

After hanging up the phone, Han Feng noticed that Su Wanwan was curled up on the sofa watching a movie, still wearing the blue diamond necklace around her neck, which glowed faintly in the dim living room. The flickering lights from the horror movie made her cover her eyes from time to time, while peeking through her fingers.

Han Feng sighed silently and walked over to sit down.

"Afraid to look?"

Su Wanwan immediately rubbed against her like a cat finding a heater: "I'm only scared when you're not around!" Then, seemingly realizing her words were too suggestive, she quickly grabbed a mouthful of potato chips, "Ugh... this female lead is so stupid, knowing there were ghosts she still ran to the basement..."

"We're leaving Friday night, remember to pack your things," Han Feng reminded him.

"It's just for two days, there's not much to pack," Su Wanwan said nonchalantly, then suddenly seemed to remember something and jumped up: "You just said Liu Mengran is going to work for your company?"

"Yeah, we agreed on this afternoon, what happened?" Han Feng was a little confused.

"Oh...it's nothing." Su Wanwan's eyes were somewhat dim at this moment. "Do you like her?"

"Huh?" Han Feng was stunned. Although he had the answer to this question himself, everything he did after his rebirth, including coming to Kyoto University, was for Liu Mengran. However, he didn't know why Liu Mengran didn't appear in his life according to the same trajectory as in his previous life. Zero's explanation was that after Han Feng was reborn, many things deviated from the original track, so it was normal for things to be a little different.

"If you don't want to talk about it, then forget it. I was just gossiping." Su Wanwan's voice pulled Han Feng back from his daze. Han Feng saw a hint of sadness flash in Su Wanwan's eyes and felt a pang of unease, but he didn't know how to explain it to her. He just sighed, walked to Su Wanwan's side, and patted her head: "I can't say anything about this right now. I'll tell you everything when the time is right."

Su Wanwan initially resisted Han Feng's gesture of touching her hair, but after hearing what Han Feng said, she felt a sense of relief for some reason.

Just as the atmosphere became somewhat ambiguous, Su Wanwan was the first to explode: "Tch, I was just curious. Also, don't touch my head anymore, it's all messed up!" After saying that, she ran back to her room as if fleeing.

Han Feng watched Su Wanwan's retreating figure and sighed: Women, ah, so fickle.

---

Friday arrived quickly. Han Feng told Wang Hao and Su Wanwan to pack their things and meet at the villa that evening. He glanced at his watch; it was 1:15 PM, fifteen minutes before the appointed time. His phone screen showed that his earlier call to Liu Mengran was still unanswered.

"I hope they don't stand me up..." Han Feng muttered to himself, his fingers tapping unconsciously on the steering wheel.

Just then, the passenger door opened. Liu Mengran, dressed in a simple beige business suit, her long black hair tied in a neat ponytail, carrying a thick folder in her arms, sat down expressionlessly.

"Good afternoon." She greeted him briefly, her voice as cool as ever.

Han Feng raised an eyebrow: "Why aren't you answering the phone?"

"No signal in the elevator." Liu Mengran fastened her seatbelt, her gaze fixed straight ahead. "Let's go."

As the car drove towards the city's financial district, Liu Mengran remained focused on reviewing the documents in her hands, occasionally making annotations with her pen. Han Feng tried to strike up a conversation several times, but was repelled by the "do not disturb" aura emanating from her.

Maple Leaf Investment's headquarters building is one of the most eye-catching glass curtain wall buildings in the financial district. When the car stopped in front of the building, Liu Mengran finally looked up, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. She hadn't expected Han Feng's company to be so large. Even Han Feng himself was surprised; he had only asked Qin Chuan to send him a location, and he hadn't realized his company had grown to this size.

Qin Chuan was already waiting in the lobby. Having received a heads-up from Han Feng, he had arrived early. "Mr. Han, you've arrived."

"This is Liu Mengran, my classmate," Han Feng introduced briefly. "Let me show her around the company."

Qin Chuan immediately understood and eagerly led the way: "Hello, Miss Liu! This way, please. The private elevator goes directly to the top floor."

As the elevator ascended, Han Feng looked around and suddenly asked, "Which floor is my office on?"

Qin Chuan and Liu Mengran turned to look at him at the same time, their expressions showing the same disbelief.

"President Han..." Qin Chuan was both amused and exasperated. "You don't even remember your own office? It's on the top floor! I told you last time, and it's been reserved for you!"

Liu Mengran scoffed: "It's a miracle that a chairman who doesn't even know where his own office is has a company that hasn't gone bankrupt."

Han Feng shrugged: "I'll handle the strategy; the details are for the professionals." He glanced meaningfully at the documents in Liu Mengran's hand, "Like someone like you."

The elevator dinged as it reached the top floor. Stepping out, I was greeted by a spacious and bright office area, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering spectacular views of Kyoto. At the far end was a heavy solid wood door with the simple words "Chairman's Office" written on it.

Qin Chuan pushed open the door and gestured for him to enter. The office was spacious to the point of being luxurious, yet the decor was surprisingly minimalist. Aside from the necessary office furniture, the most striking feature was a huge world map on the wall, marking the distribution of Maple Leaf Investments' global branches.

"Wow," Han Feng whistled, "I had no idea my office was so impressive."

Liu Mengran couldn't help but roll her eyes, walked to the conference area, sat down, and opened a folder: "I've done some analysis on your company; you can take a look first."

Qin Chuan curiously took the document, and after flipping through a few pages, his eyes widened: "This...this is a SWOT analysis for our semiconductor project? And financial model forecasts from our competitors?" He grew increasingly shocked as he read on. "My God, this technology roadmap is even more detailed than ours!"

Han Feng leaned over to browse the documents, a smile unconsciously creeping onto his lips. Liu Mengran's report not only covered market analysis and technology assessment, but even considered potential policy risks and supply chain vulnerabilities, demonstrating a level of professionalism far exceeding that of ordinary business school students.

"How about it?" Han Feng asked Qin Chuan smugly. "I had good taste, didn't I?"

Qin Chuan nodded repeatedly: "That's amazing! Our team hadn't even noticed several of the risk points mentioned in this report!" He looked at Liu Mengran with admiration, "Miss Liu's abilities are truly unfathomable."

"I knew it," Han Feng said lazily, leaning back on the sofa. "The people I like are never just pretty faces."
