Inside Grandpa Liu's room, Liu Xiaoran had already tidied everything up and was standing in front of his grandfather.
"Has everything been taken care of?" Old Master Liu's voice was devoid of any emotion.
"Everything has been taken care of, and the secret room in the Third Elder's room has also been cleaned up," Liu Xiaoran reported truthfully.
"Alright, then go back and rest. Oh, and remember to inform Han Feng to be careful these next few days. I'm worried that the Nangong family will retaliate against him after the Third Elder's death," Old Master Liu said to Liu Xiaoran.
Liu Xiaoran nodded and left Old Master Liu's room.
"Han Feng, I hope you can truly broaden my horizons," Old Master Liu said softly in the room.
In the following days, the death of the Third Elder did not cause much of a stir in the family; in fact, Old Master Liu even deliberately kept the news under wraps.
Nangong Wentian, the head of the Nangong family, had not received any news from the Third Elder for the past few days, and felt a little uneasy. He also sent someone to visit the Liu family, and was told that the Third Elder was currently in seclusion and would be present on the day the marriage was discussed.
In the past few days, Han Feng had told Liu Mengran the whole story. When Liu Mengran learned that her family elders actually wanted her to be a sacrifice in a marriage alliance, she was not as disappointed as she had expected, which surprised Han Feng.
Liu Mengran told Han Feng that she believed that since her grandfather and Han Feng had discussed it, they would not let her get into trouble.
Han Feng has been constantly fighting against his counterpart inside the Tower of Babel these past few days. He can now defeat energy beings two levels lower than himself, but when he moves down to the next level and encounters an energy being only one level lower, he is defeated in just one move.
Zero comforted him, saying, "Your energy control is already quite good. You just need to keep refining your fighting style to grow."
Han Feng naturally believed Zero's words without a doubt. Through the repeated battles over the past few days, not only had his combat skills improved significantly, but he had even broken through to the late stage of the Acquired Realm.
If Grandpa Liu and the others saw this, they would only say one thing: "Monster!"
The day of the Nangong family's visit arrived quickly. Early in the morning, Nangong Wentian, accompanied by four of his subordinates and Nangong Ao, the younger generation who was to be married to Liu Mengran, went to the Liu family.
The expected welcome did not materialize; the crowd's reaction was rather ordinary, and even Liu Mengran was not present.
Inside the Liu family's main hall, the fragrance of sandalwood wafted through the air, yet it couldn't dispel the suffocating oppression. Nangong Wentian sat at the head of the guest seats, his fingers tapping on the rosewood armrests, each tap seeming to strike the hearts of everyone in the Liu family.
"Father, the Liu family is utterly ungrateful!" Nangong Ao slammed his hand on the table, the teacup clattering loudly. "We were supposed to discuss the marriage today, where is Liu Mengran?"
He was dressed in a white brocade robe, with a jade pendant jingling at his waist. His face was handsome, but the lewd look in his eyes ruined his overall demeanor. Ever since he saw Liu Mengran's photo in the information given to him by the Third Elder, he had been thinking about her day and night. He had finally persuaded his father to propose marriage ahead of schedule, only to be turned away.
Nangong Wentian raised his hand to signal his son to calm down, then looked at Old Master Liu, who was sitting in the main seat, with a sinister gaze: "Old Master Liu, where is the Third Elder? I've been trying to contact him all morning, but I haven't seen a soul in sight."
Old Master Liu's hand holding the teacup was as steady as a mountain, but in his heart he was cursing the Nangong family's ancestors for eighteen generations. Remembering Han Feng's instructions, he forced a smile: "Patriarch Nangong, please calm down. Mengran is still at the company and will be back later. As for the Third Elder..."
"Is there something wrong at the company?" Nangong Ao interrupted with a cold laugh. "A woman's proper duty is to be a wife and mother. What kind of decorum is this, showing your face in public!" He turned to his father, "Father, I think the Liu family is deliberately mistreating us!"
The faces of the Liu family members in the hall immediately turned extremely ugly. Liu Xiaoran's fists clenched so tightly they cracked, but he was stopped by a look from his grandfather.
As the sun rose higher, Nangong Wentian looked at his watch, his expression growing increasingly grim. When the hands struck eleven, he finally stood up, and a terrifying pressure suddenly erupted from his body.
"So, the Liu family is something else!" Nangong Wentian's sleeves fluttered even without wind. "Do you really think that just because someone helped you reopen your cultivation path, you can disregard the Nangong family?"
Four guards from the Nangong family stepped forward simultaneously, all unleashing their full power as early-stage Acquired Realm cultivators. The Liu family members immediately struggled to breathe, and several of the weaker juniors even had blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.
Old Master Liu stood up: "Patriarch Nangong, there must be some misunderstanding..."
"A misunderstanding?" Nangong Wentian sneered. "If you don't see Liu Mengran today, I don't think your Liu family has any reason to exist!"
Just at this critical moment, a lazy voice suddenly came from outside the door:
"Oh? Really? Let's see who's so arrogant as to try and steal my wife."
The sound wasn't loud, yet it clearly reached everyone's ears. Immediately afterward, an even more powerful aura surged in like a tsunami, instantly dissipating the oppressive aura of the Nangong family. The temperature in the hall seemed to plummet, and everyone felt a chill run down their spines.
"Da, da, da."
The sound of leather shoes tapping on the bluestone slabs grew louder as they approached, unhurried yet each tap felt like a blow to the heart. Nangong Ao felt a sudden pang of fear and involuntarily took a half-step back.
At the entrance, a tall, slender figure stood against the light. As he stepped into the hall, the sunlight cast a long shadow behind him, like a drawn sword pointing directly at the members of the Nangong family.
Han Feng.
He was unusually dressed today—a black suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist, the collar casually open, revealing a faint scar on his collarbone. Most striking were his eyes, as black as ink yet seemingly shimmering with starlight, making it impossible to look directly at them.
"Han Feng!" Liu Xiaoran exclaimed in surprise, as if she had seen a savior.
Han Feng nodded slightly to the Liu family members, then his gaze fell on the Nangong father and son, a dangerous smile playing on his lips: "Gentlemen, do you need something from my fiancée?"
"Fiancée?" Nangong Ao's expression changed drastically. "Bullshit! Liu Mengran is clearly going to marry me!"
Han Feng didn't even glance at Nangong Ao, but went straight to sit down next to Old Master Liu and poured himself a cup of tea: "Grandpa Liu, Mengran said the company meeting has been postponed, and she'll be back later to have dinner with you."
This arrogant attitude completely enraged Nangong Ao. He abruptly drew his soft sword from his waist, the tip pointing directly at Han Feng: "Where did this wild brat come from, daring to steal my woman?"
Only then did Han Feng look directly at Nangong Ao. With just one glance, Nangong Ao felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave, and his hand gripping the sword trembled involuntarily.
Even Grandpa Liu stared at Han Feng in shock. After not seeing him for a few days, if he wasn't mistaken, Han Feng had already broken through to the late stage of the Acquired Realm!
