Chapter 44 Liu Xiaoran's Visit

It was a day off. Han Feng rubbed his eyes and glanced at the alarm clock on his bedside table—10:15 a.m. This was the first time in six months that he had slept until he naturally woke up.

The phone on the bedside table vibrated at just the right moment. Han Feng reached for it and saw the words "Qin Chuan" displayed on the screen.

"Hello?" His voice was still hoarse from just waking up.

"President Han! All the formalities for Xinghuo Technology have been completed!" Qin Chuan's voice was full of energy, as if he had already drunk three cups of espresso. "We've also made contact with the German side; the CEO of Silicon Crystal Technology has agreed to meet with us alone next Wednesday."

Han Feng sat up and ran his hand through his messy hair: "Okay, An, I understand. Just make the arrangements."

"Understood! And there's the sodium-ion battery patent..." Qin Chuan continued reporting on the progress, speaking rapidly like a machine gun.

As Han Feng listened, he walked to the window and drew back the curtains. In the courtyard, several sparrows were hopping around the fountain, and this world he usually ignored suddenly came alive.

"...So I think we can set up the laboratory in Suzhou Industrial Park..." Qin Chuan continued to talk.

"You can decide those things," Han Feng interrupted him. "Take a break today. Don't call me unless the sky falls."

After hanging up the phone, Han Feng stretched. The wound under his ribs had almost healed, leaving only a light pink scar. He casually put on a black t-shirt and sweatpants, slipped on his slippers, and walked out of the bedroom.

Downstairs in the living room, Su Wanwan was sitting cross-legged on the carpet, facing a 4K game screen that took up an entire wall. She was wearing an oversized dinosaur onesie, her short red hair was a mess like a bird's nest, and she was clicking away on the game controller in her hand.

"Left! Enemies on the left! Ugh, so stupid!" she yelled at her teammates on the screen, completely unaware of Han Feng coming downstairs.

Han Feng leaned against the stair railing, watching the scene with great interest. On the screen was a popular shooting game, and Su Wanwan's character was wreaking havoc, ranking first in the kill leaderboard with three times the kills of the second-place player.

After the game ended, Su Wanwan finally noticed Han Feng's presence: "Yo, the lazybones finally got up?" She grinned, revealing two sharp canine teeth, "Come play games with me!"

"Not interested." Han Feng turned and walked towards the kitchen.

"Hey!" Su Wanwan sprang to her feet, barefoot, and chased after him. "Do you know how long I've been waiting for this day? Ever since I met you, you've either been on a mission or assigning missions, living like a programmed robot!"

Han Feng took the milk out of the refrigerator without turning around: "I'm busy."

"Don't give me that!" Su Wanwan snatched the milk carton away. "It's a day off today! Everything's arranged with Qin Chuan, and Long Yuan doesn't have any urgent missions. Don't try to make excuses!"

She conjured a second game controller out of nowhere and waved it in front of Han Feng: "Just one hour, please~" Her voice suddenly softened, and her eyes blinked, making her look like a little dog begging for food.

Han Feng looked at her helplessly. In his memory, since being reborn and obtaining the system, he had never truly relaxed. Every day was spent in training, missions, and planning, as if he had returned to the tense life of his previous life.

"...Just one hour." He finally relented.

"Yay!" Su Wanwan cheered, grabbing Han Feng's arm and dragging him towards the living room. "Let me show you what a true e-sports goddess looks like!"

Half an hour later, Han Feng's character fell off the cliff for the third time, and the screen turned gray.

"Hahahaha!" Su Wanwan laughed so hard she almost fell over. "Even the great master Han has met his match! The way you fired your gun looks just like an eighty-year-old grandmother handling a gun for the first time!"

Veins bulged on Han Feng's forehead. In real life, he could hit a moving target 300 meters away with a pistol, but in the game, he was completely outmatched by Su Wanwan.

"This control is inhuman." He frowned, staring at the controller. "There would never be recoil like this in reality."

"You're bad at it, don't make excuses~" Su Wanwan made a face. "Call me Master, and I'll teach you!"

Han Feng narrowed his eyes and suddenly reached out to grab the controller from her. Su Wanwan screamed and rolled away, but accidentally knocked over a bag of potato chips on the coffee table, scattering chips all over the floor.

"Take this!" She grabbed a handful of potato chips and threw them at Han Feng.

Han Feng dodged to the side, then grabbed a sofa cushion to retaliate. The two chased each other around the living room, Su Wanwan running and laughing, the tail of her dinosaur pajamas swaying back and forth; Han Feng, on the other hand, rarely showed a relaxed smile, even the perpetual coldness in his eyes seemed to melt away a bit.

"I surrender! I surrender!" Su Wanwan was finally "suppressed" by Han Feng in the corner of the sofa with a cushion, panting and raising her hands to beg for mercy, "No, no tickling! It's forbidden by international conventions!"

Just as Han Feng was about to say something, his phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket. The caller ID showed: Liu Xiaoran.

The atmosphere changed instantly. Han Feng released Su Wanwan, his expression returning to its usual calm: "Hello?"

"Captain!" Liu Xiaoran's voice was full of energy. "I'd like to ask you some detailed observations about the gene warriors! When you faced them, did you notice any particular weaknesses? Is it convenient for me to come over to you now?"

Han Feng: "..."

Su Wanwan mouthed, "Make him...get...out."

"Today is a day off," Han Feng gently reminded him.

"That's precisely why we have time for in-depth discussion!" Liu Xiaoran completely missed the implication. "Where are you? I'm coming right away!"

Su Wanwan snatched the phone away: "Hey! Liu the blockhead! Did you get your brain slammed in a door? Would it kill you to not talk about serious matters on your day off?" She angrily hung up and threw the phone back at Han Feng, "This guy's hopeless!"

Han Feng looked at the black screen and smiled, a rare occurrence for him: "He's quite serious."

"Taking things too seriously is just being obsessive!" Su Wanwan picked up the game controller again. "Never mind him, let's continue." It seemed that the playful fight from just now had been forgotten.

The phone rang again. It was Liu Xiaoran again.

Su Wanwan let out a wail and collapsed onto the carpet, feigning death. Han Feng shook his head and answered the phone: "Kyoto Huafu, Villa No. 01. 3 PM."

"Yes, sir!" Liu Xiaoran's voice was full of gratitude. "I will definitely be on time..."

Han Feng hung up immediately, silenced his phone, and tossed it aside. Su Wanwan looked up from the carpet, her face filled with disbelief: "You really let him come?"

"Otherwise he'll keep hitting." Han Feng picked up the controller. "Let's continue. This time I won't fall."

Su Wanwan snorted twice and restarted the game: "I bet you a hundred bucks, you won't last five minutes."

"It's a bet. If I win, you're in charge of cleaning the house for a week."

"Oh, so Young Master Han is finally showing some humanity? Come on then!"
