Chairman Zhao's face turned ashen, and the teacup in his hand fell to the ground with a "clatter." But the nightmare was not over yet—because in the following auctions, Han Feng used the same tactic, increasing the price of everything the Zhao Group was bidding on by 100 yuan.
When the gavel fell, Chen Li had almost torn her husband's sleeve: "Old Zhao! This equipment isn't worth this price at all! Where would the company get so much working capital?!"
"Shut up!" Chairman Zhao shook off her hand, cold sweat soaking the back of his shirt. He suddenly realized that he might have fallen into a carefully designed trap.
During the auction's intermission, the three members of the Zhao family huddled in a corner for an urgent discussion. Zhao Mingkai, still unwilling to give up, said, "Dad, after the auction ends, I'll find a few brothers from the underworld..."
"Who have you messed with?" Chairman Zhao interrupted his son, his voice trembling. "Someone who can casually pull out 100 million in cash, do you think they don't have connections?"
"Isn't he just a nouveau riche?" Zhao Mingkai scoffed. "Besides, he dared to humiliate our Zhao family in public; this can't be left like this!"
Not far away, Han Feng and Su Wanwan stood by the champagne tower, taking in the entire argument between the Zhao father and son.
"It seems like they still want to cause you trouble." Su Wanwan took a sip of juice. "Should we have Qin Chuan cut off their supply chain right now?"
Han Feng swirled his wine glass: "No rush." His gaze towards the Zhao father and son was like a hunter admiring prey struggling in a trap. "The real show is just beginning."
The hall lights suddenly dimmed, and the host's voice came through the speakers: "Distinguished guests, the next item to be auctioned tonight is the grand finale—a 15-carat Burmese blue diamond necklace, starting at 5 million yuan..."
Zhao Mingkai's eyes lit up instantly, completely forgetting the financial crisis: "Wanwan said she likes blue! Dad, I definitely need this..."
"What the hell!" Chairman Zhao finally exploded. "There's only three million left in the company's account! It's all your fault, you spendthrift son!"
As the host's voice rang out, a crowd began bidding on the Burmese blue diamond necklace, and the price quickly reached 8 million.
Chairman Zhao rejected Zhao Mingkai's suggestion to raise the price further. But Zhao Mingkai persisted: "Dad, look, there weren't many bidders to begin with. I still have about 10 million yuan on hand. We've already won the bid for the measuring instrument. After this, we'll build a good relationship with the people from Fenghua Investment and secure the agency rights. Then, will we still have to worry about making money?"
Chairman Zhao was still somewhat hesitant, so Zhao Mingkai continued, "Moreover, if we win the last item in the auction, the people from Maple Leaf Investment might think more highly of us."
After listening to Zhao Mingkai's analysis, Chairman Zhao nodded with difficulty. Zhao Mingkai was overjoyed and immediately held up the number plate: "10 million!"
Several more people then bid, bringing the price down to 12 million. Zhao Mingkai grew anxious and shouted:
"15 million!"
The entire audience erupted in uproar.
"15 million! A first time!"
The auctioneer's voice echoed through the auction hall. Zhao Mingkai stood in his seat, fine beads of sweat glistening on his forehead, but a determined smile graced his face. This sum had already emptied his savings, which he had received from his father and all of his own.
"Dad, look," he whispered to Chairman Zhao, whose face was ashen, "No one dares to follow anymore. After I give this necklace to Su Wanwan, I'll find an opportunity to get to know the higher-ups at Feng Hua Investment..."
Chairman Zhao's gaze swept over the front VIP section—where several truly influential figures sat, all of whom had tacitly put down their bidding paddles. An ominous premonition welled up in his heart, but his son's fervor left him speechless.
"15 million! The second time!" The host looked around the room. "Any further bids?"
Zhao Mingkai stared intently at Han Feng in the front row. That annoying guy hadn't raised his paddle since earlier, just leisurely sipping his champagne and occasionally whispering a few words to Su Wanwan. The blue diamond necklace around Su Wanwan's neck, whether real or fake, glittered under the lights, stinging his eyes.
"15 million! Third..."
Before he could finish speaking...
"One hundred million."
Han Feng's voice wasn't loud, but it was like a bomb exploding in the auction hall. He didn't even raise his bidding paddle; he merely gestured with a slight lift of his hand.
The entire venue fell silent instantly. Zhao Mingkai's smile froze on his face, his hand holding the sign hovering in mid-air, as if he had suddenly turned into a comical statue.
The host nearly dropped the gavel: "I'm sorry, you mean...one hundred million?"
"RMB," Han Feng added, his tone as calm as if he were buying a bottle of water at a convenience store.
Su Wanwan abruptly turned to look at him, her red lips slightly parted, her breath catching in her throat. Han Feng turned his head and winked at her, a rare little gesture that instantly made Su Wanwan's ears turn bright red.
"One...one hundred million, the first time!" The host's voice trembled with excitement. "One hundred million, the second time!"
Zhao Mingkai's brain seemed to freeze: Didn't he say he wasn't going to follow him anymore?
"One hundred million, third time! Sold!" The gavel slammed down. "Congratulations to bidder number 68!"
Amidst thunderous applause, a hostess approached Han Feng carrying a velvet tray. The blue diamond necklace on the tray refracted a dreamlike color under the lights, each facet shimmering with a captivating blue light.
Zhao Mingkai's eyes were bloodshot, his nails digging deep into his palms. He watched helplessly as Han Feng picked up the necklace and personally put it on Su Wanwan, right next to the original "fake" one. The two blue diamonds shone brilliantly, breathtakingly beautiful.
"This...this is too precious..." Su Wanwan's voice was so soft it was almost inaudible, her fingers unconsciously touching the new necklace.
Han Feng simply patted the back of her hand lightly, then turned towards the Zhao family father and son, a barely perceptible smile curving his lips.
This subtle expression became the final straw that broke Zhao Mingkai's back.
"You just wait!" he hysterically shoved away his father, who was trying to stop him, his voice distorted with anger. "You're not leaving here safely after the auction!"
Several security guards immediately approached them. Chairman Zhao hurriedly covered his son's mouth and dragged him outside: "Shut up! Aren't you embarrassed enough already?"
Zhao Mingkai's struggles and curses gradually faded away, but his venomous eyes remained fixed on Han Feng until the very end.
At this moment, Han Feng's gaze was still on Su Wanwan, and he thought to himself: I must say, this little girl looks quite cute like this.
He then said to Su Wanwan, "Alright, it's time to snap out of it. I'll take you home first."
"I'm not leaving!" Su Wanwan suddenly snapped back to reality, grabbing Han Feng's arm. "That bastard Zhao Mingkai will definitely find a way to get revenge! I have to..."
Her words trailed off abruptly because she saw the smile in Han Feng's eyes.
"How could I forget? You're Instructor Longyuan!" Su Wanwan laughed. "Then I'll stay and watch the show too."
