Chapter 46 Demonization: I bestow upon you divine power

Chapter 46 Demonization: I bestow upon you divine power

Like the gods, demons also perished many years ago, becoming creatures that only exist in ancient legends.

They're not quite the same.

The legendary demons vanished long before the gods, leaving behind a rich variety of rumors and traces of their actual existence.

For example, a tangible treasure like the Eye of the Devil.

But a demon is still a demon, and the filthy remnants of its legacy will pollute normal people and things.

The wolf king before them, as large as a small mountain, had long lost the aura of harmony between life and nature. Its huge beastly eyes were blood red, with bulging eyeballs and blue veins coiled around them.

Its slightly open, blood-red maw dripped continuously with black, filthy saliva, and a thick, pungent smell of blood and decay emanated from its mouth, creating a warm, foul-smelling current.

Wolves are social animals, so what attracted Byrne and his group was probably the other wolves in the pack.

But that doesn't quite make sense, Budney thought. As the leader of the pack, the wolf king of the snow country would instinctively shoulder the most dangerous part of the responsibility.

Therefore, in most cases, it will choose to lead the charge and then arrange for other members of the wolf pack to launch surprise attacks or ambush.

But why is it here now?

Was it corrupted by the Demon Eye, losing some of its species' instincts? Or did it perceive this place as the most dangerous?

Budney looked at himself, then glanced at the obedient and gentle pretty guy behind him, thinking that the former was probably more likely.

The Wolf King's strength should not be underestimated, and Budney's defense is among the best of its kind; the barrier he sets up can withstand all kinds of powerful attacks without any surprise.

But now it was smashed to pieces with a single claw from the wolf king, and Budney's face immediately darkened.

Their immediate priority was to ensure their safety, so Budney quickly took off in the aircraft. The orc's spiritual intuition was exceptionally sharp, and it was precisely this keenness that allowed them to narrowly avoid the wolf king's second attack.

The enormous wolf king exuded a foul black aura. After its first attack failed, it raised its massive head and searched its surroundings, quickly locking onto the white soul floating in the air.

The distorted beast face grew even more ferocious, and it lunged at Reinhardt with its blood-red maw wide open. Budney skillfully dodged it, then raised its head and let out a sharp wolf howl towards the full moon!

The stench and the high-frequency sound waves assaulted the orc and the blind boy, whose senses were exceptionally sharp, and both felt as if their internal organs had been struck.

The aircraft suddenly lurched due to the brief loss of control. Reinhardt, who was sitting in the back seat with nothing to hold onto, was thrown off by the blast wave and fell to the ground instantly!

Oops!

Barely maintaining his composure, Budeni felt a change in weight, and his heart felt as if it were being gently tugged by a string. He quickly steered the aircraft to chase after Reinhardt.

But he stopped when he saw the little blind man in the blue robe and with his golden hair flying, land on a rather strangely shaped flying machine.

He breathed a sigh of relief and quickly shouted, "Find a place to hide, I'll distract him!"

Reinhardt had just sat down in the special chair Celine had set up when he heard a whistling sound of wind approaching.

He maneuvered his aircraft into the air, leaping away to dodge the wolf king's attack, and just then he overheard Budney's words.

He knew perfectly well that he was now just a burden, and if Budney had any conscience, he would become the biggest obstacle to him if he continued to stay.

So Reinhardt leaned down and whispered, "Storm."

This was his own spell, and the only word Reinhard could think of that could give him enough security.

The aircraft set off the instant it received the keyword, speeding forward under Budney's astonished gaze.

Like a princess riding the moon, he left only a fleeting shadow, not even catching the swift wolf king's eye.

However, it is not smart enough. Its straight flight path could be easily intercepted by the wolf king if it makes a prediction in advance.

"Boom!" A burst of fireworks exploded in Reinhardt's ears, presumably Budney had stepped in to help and slightly slowed down the pursuers.

However, the demonized wolf king had already locked onto Reinhardt, and no matter how much Budney provoked him, it relentlessly pursued him. Several times it nearly bit Reinhardt; if it weren't for the aircraft's high speed, he would probably have become the wolf king's tool for picking its teeth.

Reinhardt suddenly realized something, took out a stone bullet from his ring, and released it, followed by a series of explosions behind him.

But just as Buster said, the stone bullets could only hold off some small monsters; the Wolf King was completely unharmed.

The aircraft swept past the treetops, with the giant wolf in pursuit, its silhouette flickering in the vast moonlight.

Reinhardt, whose vision was trapped in the darkness, held the stone bullet in his palm.

The wind whistled past his ears, Reinhardt's long golden hair fluttered in the wind, he lowered his head and gently pressed his lips to the back of his tightly clenched fingers, like a saint in devout prayer.

Then he saw many ethereal points of light.

Like the fireflies he had seen by the clear stream in his childhood, they flew steadfastly toward the direction of Reinhardt's palm, turning the stone bullets into a visible white in the gale and under the moonlight he could not see.

With a flick of his finger, Reinhardt scattered all the stone bullets into the wind, followed by a series of tiny explosions behind him!

Surprisingly, the wolf king also let out a painful howl!

really.

Reinhardt's practice was proven correct, and coincidentally, he and Buster and the others were not far from the main battlefield, which allowed Reinhardt to find the Storm Leader.

Like a savage charging calf, the aircraft burst out of the battle zone and, in front of everyone and the wolves, crashed directly into Buster's arms!

Buster reacted extremely quickly, sensing Reinhardt's presence the moment he appeared. As his aircraft descended, he swiftly opened his arms and effortlessly pulled Reinhardt into his embrace.

Without asking why Reinhardt had appeared, he hugged Reinhardt tightly and took off into the air, instantly flying to a position at least seventy or eighty meters away from where they had been.

The others also saw the wolf king chasing after them and scattered. As a result, the wolf king smashed a huge dent in the ground!

"This is the Wolf King?"

"Watch out! Something's wrong with its aura! It's like it's been turned into a demon!"

"Use holy water!"

The other teammates spoke up, and Buster frowned.

Holy water is an effective tool for dealing with demonized enemies; this is a consensus among all adventurers, and Buster certainly knows it too, but at the moment he is thinking about the Wolf King.

Did he sense Reinhardt's presence... and deliberately set a trap to lure them away before hunting Reinhardt?

Reinhardt could roughly sense that there was no one else around them, so he turned to the side and leaned closer to the Storm Leader's profile.

Buster, who was still pondering how to deal with the wolf king, was instantly drawn to the warm breath on his cheek.

A faint, unique fragrance belonging to Reinhardt wafted over, causing his pupils to tremble involuntarily, and his arms to tighten instinctively.

But the trembling in his heart was more due to Reinhardt's whispered call of his name.

“Storm,” Reinhardt murmured, “Give me your weapon.”

"I bestow upon you divine power."
