Chapter 52 Fifty-two Lucky
At ten o'clock in the evening, Chen Yun came out of the children's room.
She closed the door, breathed a sigh of relief, walked lightly to the living room and turned on the TV.
Song Fenglin went downstairs to throw away the garbage and bought some food from the roadside stall at the entrance of the community.
When he entered the room, he leaned half of his body in and asked quietly, "Are you asleep?"
Chen Yun nodded twice vigorously and put the clutter on the coffee table aside.
She accidentally swept the remote control to the ground, and the loud thud made people feel uneasy. Their hands froze in place, and they felt more guilty than a thief who broke into this house.
Song Fenglin: "After discharging electricity today, I should sleep well."
Chen Yun: "I'm on standby 24 hours a day when I'm on holiday. I was just about to go to bed but the concert was still going on."
Although she loved children, she actually enjoyed this moment of peace and asked, "Are there any snacks to go with the wine?"
Song Fenglin: "There are duck necks and chicken feet."
Then he asked, "Beer?"
Chen Yun stood up suddenly: "There is a new combination. I'll make you a cup to try."
This wine and that juice, all of them were things that Song Fenglin couldn't understand.
He just thought the red, orange, yellow and green colors looked pretty good, and took a sip: "It tastes good."
Even if he praises it to the skies, it's of little reference value when it comes out of his mouth.
But no matter how you pretend, the emotional value is at least sufficient.
Chen Yun was in a good mood anyway, and opened the plastic bags he brought back one by one: "Why are all the things I like to eat? Don't you want to eat them?"
Song Fenglin originally didn't want to eat it, but seeing that she looked a little disappointed, he said, "There are also some things I like to eat."
He said that eating was optional.
There was a mountain of bones in front of Chen Yun, but he was still slowly struggling with the same duck collarbone.
It can be seen that who he eats with is more important to him than what he eats.
Song Fenglin was indeed in a good mood and wanted to make this second longer.
He said, "I met Qiqi's father this afternoon."
Qiqi is my daughter’s kindergarten classmate, and the two of them have recently been learning calligraphy in an extracurricular class.
With children as the bond, parents naturally have many intersections.
Chen Yun: “Haven’t you seen it before?”
Song Fenglin: "I have met you, but today is the first time we have spoken."
It seems like all men are the same. After sending their children to school, they can't wait to turn around and leave.
Chen Yun laughed: "You two are socially anxious, and you're still able to strike up a conversation?"
Song Fenglin couldn't hide his little pride: "I told him first."
That was really amazing. Chen Yun clapped her hands pretentiously: "What were you talking about?"
We talked about all sorts of things, and I can't remember what we were talking about.
Song Fenglin finally concluded: "It was just nonsense chatting."
Chen Yun didn't necessarily want to find out the truth. After all, no one lives with a camera in front of them.
She said, "If we get along well, I'll have someone to pick up and drop off the kids with in the future."
Song Fenglin was about to back off: "It's fine if I send it off alone."
He just stood there and chatted with people, with no intention of joining up with anyone. Thinking of the possible increased social burden, he sighed for no reason.
It is this kind of personality that makes people find his behavior in this marriage even more incredible.
Chen Yun drank the last sip of wine, shook the clinking ice cubes, and suddenly raised his eyes: "Song Fenglin, I want to ask you something, you have to tell the truth."
He asked with such seriousness, including his full name, that Song Fenglin's heart started beating wildly.
He didn't know what he was afraid of, and clenched his hands slightly: "Okay."
Chen Yun: "Do you like going back to your hometown?"
Perhaps because he had to tell the "truth", Song Fenglin hesitated for a moment before saying, "I can't say I like it, but I don't hate it either."
In fact, this answer is already very good, and it slightly alleviates Chen Yun’s guilt.
She put down the cup and rubbed her hands unconsciously on her thighs: "If that's the case, you don't have to go this time. I'll take the kids back."
Song Fenglin's face changed: "What am I doing alone in Ningjiang?"
Chen Yun: "Isn't it good to stay in Ningjiang without having to greet relatives?"
Song Fenglin spoke each word carefully: "Not good at all."
He was still a little aggrieved because of the alcohol: "Do you think it's embarrassing to take me back?"
Chen Yun asked back: "Why should I feel ashamed?"
Song Fenglin: "I am now an unemployed vagrant."
Society has many definitions of success, but none of them is linked to unemployment.
After he reminded her, Chen Yun was surprised: "If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have forgotten about it."
This answer was so unexpected that she began to reflect on whether she or her parents had inadvertently expressed their embarrassment about his recent joblessness, and after thinking it over, she concluded that they had not.
Song Fenglin showed an expression of "as expected" and lowered his head: "Then I'll wait for you to come back home."
Chen Yun couldn't stand him being like this and had to explain it clearly: "I think there are too many things to do when I go back to my hometown. You don't like to interact with others too much anyway. If you don't want to go back, then don't go back. It has nothing to do with whether you have a job or not."
Song Fenglin said "OK" sullenly, which blocked Chen Yun's words.
She was not very happy, so she hit him and said, "Look at me."
Song Fenglin didn't know why, but he took off his glasses first.
The tiny amount of alcohol was all trapped in the corners of his eyes, like a pool of spring water.
Chen Yun seriously suspected that this was a honey trap: "You did it on purpose."
Song Fenglin's eyes wandered: "No."
Pretending, Chen Yun glared at him: "I'm talking to you seriously, do you want to go back?"
She puts emphasis on the word "self", and the meaning is obvious.
Song Fenglin shook his head slightly: "Chen Yun, this is not just my business."
Why is it that you are calling someone's name in a sticky voice?
Chen Yun tickled him: "Whose could it be?"
Song Fenglin: "We are together every year, and my parents have told our relatives about it. Now I suddenly don't go back, what will others think?"
Chen Yun curled her lips: "Why care what others think."
She grew up in her hometown and has a fixed social circle. Her hometown is a meaningful symbol to her, and she cannot avoid the entanglements of human relationships.
To be honest, Song Fenglin never cares about others.
It seemed like he couldn't open his mouth to say something nice, his upper and lower lips were clenched together, and he muttered softly: "I care about you and my parents."
To be more shameless, whether he goes back or not is of particular significance to his elders, as it is a symbol of proving to outsiders that they have a happy life with three generations living under one roof.
Chen Yun understood this truth, and pursed her lips: "I just think it's too difficult for you."
It is difficult, for sure.
Song Fenglin knew that he had character flaws and said, "But I am happy with it."
This sounds so contradictory. Chen Yun: "Sometimes I really don't understand you."
Does she really not understand? Song Fenglin thinks not.
He thought leaving blank space was also a kind of beauty. Since he didn't know what to follow, he simply fell into silence.
Chen Yun refused to let him go and elbowed him: "Speak."
Song Fenglin smiled good-naturedly: "Are you still hungry? Do you want to eat something else?"
Chen Yun: "You don't eat it yourself, but you keep asking me to eat it!"
Speaking of this, she got angry: "I've gained three pounds!"
A girl's weight is a taboo. When Song Fenglin first got married, he still had the virtue of being honest regardless of the consequences. However, he learned his lesson after offending her twice in this matter.
He coaxed people: "I broke the scale, it's not fat."
The other person took the initiative to take the blame and Chen Yun couldn't do anything about it.
She was helpless: "Your mind is working very fast now."
Song Fenglin: "It's been ten years, there has definitely been progress."
How many decades are left in a person’s life? If you are unlucky, you may not be able to finish the next one.
At that time, Chen Yun felt that she was lucky in at least one thing. She turned her head and thought: At least at that time, there will be someone by my side.
