In the dead of night, the wind suddenly rose and the rain intensified.
The elven cavalry captain stationed in Donic was awakened by the sudden sound of wind and rain. He went to the window and looked at the lightning, thunder, and torrential downpour outside. A sudden chill ran down his spine, but he quickly suppressed the strange feeling. Could some reckless individual really be planning a sneak attack on such a night…?
But he was still not completely at ease. He went downstairs and saw the guards taking shelter from the rain in the porch.
"You can take shelter from the rain, but be very careful. There's a human army outside right now. Be careful they take advantage of the rain to launch a desperate sneak attack."
Several soldiers nodded repeatedly. They stopped chatting and began observing the situation outside through the various windows.
The cavalry captain left the guards, but he remained uneasy. Unable to sleep, he tossed and turned in bed, so he decided to go downstairs for a stroll.
In the wind and rain, the woods outside the castle seemed to be shrouded in a thick fog, dark and lifeless.
Meanwhile, Yun Zhe was struggling to pull a horse through the mud in the midst of a raging storm.
Around him were several rows of soldiers wearing cloaks, who were also tumbling around in the mud in a very disheveled state.
"I have to say, this rain is too heavy!" A familiar voice rang in Yun Zhe's ears. Yun Zhe turned his head and saw Philby with his hair disheveled and his clothes dripping wet.
"Yes, it's too big, but it's better that way. If it rains heavily, we won't be followed," Yun Zhe replied with a wry smile.
Philby shook his head, clearly still dissatisfied with the intensity of the rain.
Yun Zhe stopped talking and continued to lead the horse with difficulty.
Amidst the discontent of the crowd, they finally took advantage of a rare downpour and, right under the elves' noses, moved to the west side of Donic Castle the following morning. Perhaps out of pity for these poor souls soaked in the rain, they encountered an elven caravan delivering supplies before they even had a chance to rest.
The convoy was very long and had a large number of people, as many as two hundred.
After confirming the number of elves and that there were no more elven troops nearby, Andrew led his cavalry to outflank the enemy. Arthas, with all his infantry, charged headlong into the elven convoy.
The elves were terrified; they had never expected to be ambushed here. Their accompanying force consisted of only sixty cavalrymen. The rest were ordinary elves.
Despite the initial panic, the elves reacted with the utmost resolve. The cavalry even attempted to charge straight through the infantry's lines to seek reinforcements from Donic.
However, due to their overwhelming numerical superiority, they failed. When the human cavalry appeared behind them, the elves completely lost the will to resist. The remaining cavalrymen led the remaining elves to surrender.
Yun Zhe stared at the elf who was bound in front of him. She was the captain of this elven cavalry, a beautiful female elf with brown hair.
"Where are you going with this caravan? This isn't the way to Donic."
The female elf pursed her lips, remaining silent. She didn't want to see this Aluru, and she was also extremely angry that an Aluru was helping a human.
But what she didn't know was that the annoying Aruru in front of her already knew everything she was thinking.
"My lord, the count asked me to ask you what to do with these prisoners," Gao, still with his arm in a sling, said in a low voice as he approached.
"My lord?" The female elf glanced at Yun Zhe, then quickly looked away.
"This Aruru-man seems to be quite something. He actually gets humans to call him 'Master,' and judging from the human's expression, he doesn't seem to feel any resentment or bitterness. It seems he genuinely considers him an adult. This is truly a strange thing."
The elf was lost in thought, while Yun Zhe was troubled. Although there weren't many elves left, having them around was indeed a bit of a hassle.
Yun Zhe certainly didn't have the heart to kill them all.
"What are the others saying?" Yun Zhe asked.
"Most agreed to take them with them, but Lord Andrew and others advocated killing them all..." Gao looked at Yun Zhe with slight nervousness. In fact, apart from Serena's firm refusal to be executed and Andrew's firm insistence on execution, the others were rather hesitant.
Yun Zhe nodded. "Tell Lord Andrew that my idea is to execute all the injured elves and leave with only the uninjured ones."
Then Yun Zhe glanced at the female elf who was listening intently with her ears perked up, and said, "Answer my question, or I'll cut your leg right now and leave you here."
The female elf frowned, pondering the meaning of Yun Zhe's words. Considering what he had just said, could this be their final outcome?
"I protest! How can you just kill an injured person like that? Don't you have a shred of compassion? Is this what the other half of you, the elven blood flowing in your veins, taught you?"
Yun Zhe grabbed Gao, who was about to leave, and sneered, "What, do you still want to save those wounded?"
The female elf no longer looked Yun Zhe in the eye, and her previous imposing manner diminished considerably.
"Let me put it this way, saving them isn't impossible, but only if you answer my questions honestly."
The female elf completely deflated, her previous imposing manner vanishing entirely.
After a long silence, the female elf nodded. Yun Zhe snorted softly, "First question, where is this grain shipment going?"
"Frontline, Dorgnitzburg."
Fort Dorgnitz is on the other side of the river; it was the bridgehead used by the Lunlang family when they attacked the Donic family. "Then why are there so few?"
"We are the fifth team... the other four teams have already been sent over."
Are there any other supply teams?
"The supply convoy from Fort Donic is behind us, and that's all for now..."
Yun Zhe nodded. It seemed that what the elf said was the same as what she was thinking, and it seemed that she really wanted to save the wounded.
So Yunzhe continued to ask questions, and the elf continued to answer. This went on for a long time.
“Alright,” Yun Zhe straightened up and looked at Gao beside him. “Gao, tell the Earl that I agree to take these prisoners with me. Maybe they will be our savior.”
Then Yun Zhe glanced at the soldiers around him; they were all Andrew's men. Yun Zhe frowned slightly; clearly, these soldiers coveted the elf's beauty and were already plotting their schemes.
After weighing the options for a long time, Yun Zhe said, "Fine, Gao, you take this female elf to Ellie's place. I'll go to Serena myself and talk to her."
