Seeing that the elves were about to make a move, Yun Zhe hurriedly shouted, "Wait! Why are you invading us? This place was originally unclaimed land and was not valued by the elves. Why are you suddenly invading us?"
The White Tiger Knight was slightly taken aback; this was a question she hadn't expected. She had assumed this Aruruman would say something glib and flippant.
“Black magic. We have discovered that someone is using black magic on this land. This magic seriously threatens the safety of our forest, so we must clear the people out of this land.”
Yun Zhe was also taken aback; this answer was quite unexpected. According to his analysis, the elves came here for some enormous benefit, aligning with the goals of the royal family and the duke. But judging from the White Tiger Knight's words, the elves had no intention of seizing this land. Their expedition, frankly speaking, was entirely for self-preservation.
Yun Zhe slowly approached the White Tiger Knight, hoping to sense her mental fluctuations to determine whether the female knight had deceived them.
However, the female knight keenly noticed Yun Zhe's unusual movements and raised her bow and arrow as a warning.
Yun Zhe smiled bitterly to himself, "Respected knight, I mean no harm. I would like to ask another question. Is the black magic you mentioned the same as the strange plague that broke out in Donic City?"
The female knight nodded slightly. "What, even you are starting to doubt the plague?"
Yun Zhe and Jerok exchanged a glance, Jerok's eyes filled with shock and disbelief. Yun Zhe asked in a low voice, "Jerok, what do you know? Tell me quickly."
Jerok swallowed hard. “It’s nothing. When the plague broke out, I heard about it in Dorin. Everyone thought it was a real plague because there was no heavy rain or earthquake. The weather was fine. How could a plague suddenly break out?”
“Obviously, that’s not the case,” Yun Zhe said. Jelock nodded. “Anyway, it caused quite a stir, and there were many rumors. Several roads leading to Donic were blocked off, and eventually, they were completely shut down.”
The elf's patience lasted until Gerald finished speaking her last few words. She cleared her throat, "You two, do you really want to fight me?"
Yun Zhe turned to look at the elf, "We are also investigating who cast the dark magic in Donic City. That is why our countess has been staying on this land and has not gone to Bahrain or the capital. She wants to find out the truth and seek justice for her family."
"You don't need to investigate this matter. Once you leave this land, the dark magic will naturally not descend upon us. After all, you humans prefer to use these things on other humans." The elf's tone was calm, but full of sarcasm.
“I understand that the elves need a land to be separated from humans. But have you ever considered that by wiping us out today, which may seem like a permanent solution, you have made a huge mistake?”
“Oh, interesting,” the elf put down his bow and arrow again, staring at the Aruruman in front of him with great interest. “Your words are frightening, but I want to hear your excuses.”
Yun Zhe took two deep breaths to calm himself down. Then he sheathed his longsword and said loudly.
"For elves, perhaps this land is best without humans. But you've seen the human forces' reaction. Do you think they acted this way because this land seems as insignificant as it does to you?"
The female elf frowned slightly. She had heard the battle reports from the front lines; the human forces had indeed exceeded their expectations.
"Furthermore, I can tell you with certainty that both the capital and Bahrain are recruiting soldiers and planning a second attack on this place."
The female elf narrowed her eyes again. "You must take responsibility for what you said!"
Yun Zhe nodded. "Of course I'll take responsibility. And I can tell you with even greater certainty that they will stop at nothing to seize this land, even resorting to the dark magic you all despise. So now, do you still have the confidence to drive the humans off this land?"
The female elf's chest heaved, and it took her a long time to regain her composure. "So, you have a better method?"
“But humanity isn’t monolithic, and there’s a difference in their attitudes toward dark magic. At least right now, you have an ally who absolutely despises dark magic.” Yun Zhe paused, observing the elf’s reaction.
The elf's slender fingers tapped slowly on the bow and arrow. The white tiger turned its head, looking at the opposite side and then at its master. It was puzzled as to why the order to attack had not yet been given, and couldn't help but yawn.
The female elf's face remained expressionless, forcing Yun Zhe to continue speaking.
"Furthermore, she will also investigate the origin of this dark magic. And if she can unify this land, she will create a solid barrier, completely isolating elves and humans, forming the strategic buffer you would most like to see."
The female elf remained silent, but she stopped tapping her bow. She pondered another question: "Just how much influence does this Aruru man truly hold? And how many elven warriors would have to be sacrificed to achieve what he described? Could this actually be a trap, a scheme to kill someone with a borrowed knife?"
"But if we don't do this, getting bogged down in a protracted war with humanity is obviously not something we can accept."
The female elf's eyes finally opened, and she looked at Yun Zhe. "You have no soldiers, no equipment. Even if you become the kings of this land, can you defend it? How can you possibly become a strong bulwark for us elves, instead of a forward position for human attacks?"
