Chapter 222 Unexpected Acceleration

Akdina left that very night, without any further thought of seducing Yun Zhe, which pleased Yun Zhe but also left him with a slight sense of loss. However, Yun Zhe quickly put this disappointment aside, as he was now planning his next move: to slow down the already sluggish Belvalid soldiers even further. This time, however, it wouldn't be about hiding far away; it would be about engaging the Belvalid soldiers in a real fight, and minimizing losses was Yun Zhe's primary concern.

The next morning, with five days remaining until the agreed-upon ten-day deadline, and given the Belvado army's pace from the previous day, they definitely wouldn't reach Fort Gular in five days, Yun Zhe felt a surge of confidence for the first time. He decided to discuss the next steps with everyone. He planned to deliberately reveal their whereabouts to distract the enemy, ideally making them believe the road to Fort Gular was blocked. He reasoned that under the double blow of hopelessness and illness, the Belvado army's morale would completely collapse.

However, to Yun Zhe's surprise, his idea was met with unanimous opposition. Cyrus was the most resolute, believing that Yun Zhe's plan had already taken effect and their mission was complete. Risking a force of over a thousand to lure the enemy was entirely unnecessary. A mishap could result in total annihilation; the risk was too great, and the reward too small.

Although the other generals didn't express themselves as clearly, Yun Zhe could still see what they were thinking. Clearly, Cyrus's speech had indeed expressed everyone's sentiments.

“Of course, sir, if you really feel it is necessary, we will still resolutely carry out your orders.” Seeing Yun Zhe’s surprised and thoughtful expression, Cyrus couldn’t care less about being happy and immediately added a sentence to express his attitude.

Yun Zhe waved his hand. The attitude of the crowd was unexpected. Although he was confident that he could force everyone to do it, Yun Zhe restrained himself. He thought about it and decided not to rush to persuade everyone. Instead, he planned to go back and reflect on whether his plan was indeed somewhat unnecessary.

"Dismissed, dismissed. You all continue your daily training, and the scouts continue their reconnaissance. Everything as usual. Since everyone opposes this plan, we'll postpone it for now." After saying this, Yun Zhe crawled back into his tent.

About an hour later, Yun Zhe was lying on his bed staring at the top of the tent, pondering his plan and why everyone was against it. A gust of wind stirred the tent, and Akdina appeared before him.

Yun Zhe sat up from the bed and saw Akdina naturally come to sit down at his table, then pick up a water glass and drink the water in one gulp.

"Have you finished everything for today?" Yun Zhe saw Akdina drinking water and suddenly felt thirsty himself. He stood up, picked up the water glass, and asked as he poured water.

Akdina's answer was very simple: "Hmm."

After pouring the water, Yun Zhe held the cup but couldn't drink it. He hesitated for a moment, then, noticing that Akdina wasn't paying attention to him, he casually placed the cup in front of her. "I've come up with a plan to lead soldiers to harass the Belvado army. What do you think?" Yun Zhe asked as he walked to the other side of the table and sat down.

Akdina looked at the water glass in front of her, a hint of happiness in her eyes, and then she picked up the glass and drank it all in one gulp.

Yun Zhe scanned the room; there was only one water glass...

After finishing her water, Akdina remembered Yun Zhe's question. She thought for a moment, scratched her head, and asked, "Was it because I didn't do a good enough job?"

Yun Zhe was taken aback; this answer was unexpected. He had considered whether Akdina would agree or disagree, or even be indifferent or firmly supportive. But this question, "Was it because I didn't do enough?", truly caught Yun Zhe off guard.

"No, you did a great job, excellent. I just wanted to add the finishing touches," Yun Zhe quickly reassured the girl, worried that she might be overthinking things.

Akdina nodded, as if accepting Yun Zhe's comfort. "Then do it if you want," she said, fiddling with the cup in her hand. She glanced at Yun Zhe, then poured herself another cup of water and pushed it in front of him.

Yun Zhe was resting his chin on his hands, pondering everyone's reactions, when he suddenly noticed a glass of water in front of him, leaving him no choice but to continue thinking.

However, Akdina did not give Yun Zhe any more time to think. She also rested her chin on her hands and stared straight at Yun Zhe.

Yun Zhe blushed slightly, picked up his water glass, and drank it all in one gulp. "Akdina, what kind of weapon do you want? I heard some discussions about you today; everyone seems very interested in what weapon you use. I think it's a question I should really ask you."

Akdina was content. She thought for a moment, "I used to..." She remembered when she wasn't a vampire, hunting in the forest with her father and brother. Her brother and father were both excellent archers, and she wasn't far behind. But this memory truly troubled her, so Akdina fell silent after saying just three words.

Seeing the pain on Akdina's face, Yun Zhe couldn't help but feel a little regretful. It was obvious that Akdina was thinking about some painful memories from the past.

What Yun Zhe didn't know was that Akdina's most painful memories were the time she was forced to learn fencing after becoming a vampire. It wasn't the learning process that was so painful, but rather the large gaps in her memory during that period. Akdina knew what that meant.

Finally, Akdina remembered Yun Zhe, the vampire who wielded a sword and crossbow. The longing and the pain of being violated gradually subsided, and she felt a sense of relief. Looking at the concerned expression on his face, she smiled knowingly.
