Chapter 233 Blazer's Plan

After a night, Yun Zhe had recovered considerably. Valentine also came to tell Yun Zhe some good news: Yun Zhe's judgment was correct. The sentry post had encountered the enemy's scouts, who were indeed Duke Salder's troops, a force of over six thousand cavalry.

Yun Zhe was puzzled after hearing this, "Are there only these six thousand cavalrymen, or are these six thousand cavalrymen the vanguard?"

Valentine paused for a moment, then realized the seriousness of the situation. "My lord, we only have these six thousand cavalrymen left." After saying this, Valentine's joy vanished completely.

Yun Zhe was stunned for a moment after hearing this, which was a very rare occurrence. Valentine was quite curious after seeing Yun Zhe's almost wooden expression, but he didn't dare to look too openly, and just secretly made a mental note of the scene.

"well……"

With a long sigh, Yun Zhe shook his head and sat down on the ground. Deep down, Yun Zhe couldn't help but feel that this delay now seemed like a joke, having lost all its meaning.

Disheartened, Yun Zhe suddenly felt a surge of anger. He suddenly wanted to use his six thousand men to charge, to wear down, to attack the thirty thousand cavalry, to attack the imminent Gular Fortress. His aim was not to win anything, but rather an impulsive thought born of extreme disappointment mixed with a desire for revenge.

Five cavalrymen were brought before Yun Zhe. They were Tedler's personal guards, led by a tall, burly man with long blond hair and a broad face. He was in his thirties or forties, and his voice was deep and resonant.

Upon seeing Yun Zhe, the tall man was drawn to the black figure beside Yun Zhe, unable to look away for a moment, and even forgot his proper manners.

Akdina found the gaze both familiar and repulsive. She glared at the blond cavalryman before retreating into the shadows of the woods.

Yun Zhe naturally noticed this situation as well. He coughed, signaling the person in front of him to turn their attention to him.

Realizing his lapse in decorum, the knight showed little remorse. He gave a brief bow and then glanced at the soldiers around him. They had mostly recovered after a night's rest, but their varied armor and uneven weaponry still made the knight involuntarily let out a disdainful snort.

Yun Zhe frowned, his already bad mood worsening.

"My lord, I have come to ask you to go to General Tedler's place to discuss the attack. If you have nothing else to do, please come with us."

Yun Zhe remained still, only looking at the blond knight in front of him with curious eyes.

"May I have your name?"

“My name is Charles, and I am the captain of General Tedler’s personal guard.”

Yun Zhe smiled slightly, "You're the captain of the personal guard, so you must be very capable."

Charles was slightly taken aback. Based on his intuition from years of mingling in high society, he sensed the danger in those words. However, he was still unsure why this person would make things difficult for him, a captain of the personal guard. Was it because he was blaming him for seeing that woman?

"Yes, that must be it!" Thinking this, Charles couldn't help but regret his earlier frivolity. Such a beautiful woman would naturally be taken by those with titles. But he truly hadn't meant to; the girl was just too beautiful!

Charles did not answer Yun Zhe's question, but simply repeated what he had said earlier, inviting Yun Zhe to Tedler's camp for a meeting. This time, however, his tone and demeanor were much more humble.

Yun Zhe waved his hand. "There's nothing to discuss. They have 30,000 cavalry, while we only have 6,000. Unless we're all prepared to fight to the death, charge into their center, burn their wagons, and fight them to the last man, we should just escort them to Gular Fort. Or we could try to break through the last part of their ranks; they seem to be mostly dying. Maybe that would be a win-win situation!"

Charles understood now. Yun Zhe wasn't blaming him for his frivolous behavior earlier, but rather for not bringing enough men to accomplish anything. If that was the case, things would be much easier, since Tedler had emphasized this issue before they came.

"When I came here, I heard that you were skilled in military strategy and often defeated enemies several times your size with a very small force. Perhaps for this reason, you felt that six thousand men would be enough."

Yun Zhe laughed in exasperation. How dare they try to shut me down with such words? However, Yun Zhe did not intend to continue. He really had no way to win. In the plains, and with the enemy's cavalry having both numerical and qualitative advantages, there was indeed no good strategy.

"My lord, we have discovered a troop of Belvedere cavalry, about five thousand strong, moving toward the center of the enemy forces!" Valentine rushed over and told Yun Zhe the latest news.

Yun Zhe suddenly perked up, wondering what it meant that they were still transporting cavalry to the central part of the army. Did Belvado also worry that he would be at odds with his own forces?

"What do you think?" Yun Zhe glanced at Charles subconsciously and asked in a low voice.

Charles was taken aback; he hadn't expected Yun Zhe to ask him. And he genuinely didn't have any opinions; he was skilled in martial arts, not particularly shrewd. His mission today was to take Yun Zhe to their camp, yet now he was being asked for his views on the war. Thinking of this, he felt anxious and angry, believing this was part of Yun Zhe's attempt to make things difficult for him.

Yun Zhe ignored Charles's flushed face and simply waved for Morrison and Blazer to come over.

"You both heard the news just now, right? What do you two think of this situation?"

Morrison pondered for a moment, "Could it be that the lord thinks we will attack them, so he sent troops to strengthen the defenses?"

Blazer sneered, "Hmph, I think so too. This way they can hold us back even more, preventing us from attacking and eliminating the possibility of a final battle."

Morrison glanced at Blazer, a hint of worry in his eyes.

“The more they act like this, the more we should attack. The troops sent to intimidate them are definitely not elite troops. I suggest we continue attacking their central convoy. We could even do this: send a thousand men to ambush them, use the main force to lure their cavalry out, and then have those thousand men attack the convoy, completely thwarting their plan!” Blazer continued, ignoring Morrison’s gaze.

The person most surprised at this moment was not Morrison, nor Valentine, but Charles. He never expected that Yun Zhe's question was not actually meant to make things difficult for him, and he also never expected that Yun Zhe's subordinates could come up with such a bold and seemingly feasible plan, which made him eager to try it out.
