On the afternoon the first heavy cavalry charge of the Western Continent took place, Leonrenlang finally found his daughter, Catherine, and the two embraced and wept, a truly moving scene. Meanwhile, Duke Sald and Serena climbed hand in hand onto the ruins of the imperial capital. As far as the eye could see, soldiers were busily preparing for battle. Because further away, Graham's army was already on its way.
What made Yun Zhe happiest after the battle was that everyone he knew was still alive, and not a single one was injured. Blaze, wearing heavy armor, was assigned to the front line of the team. He was covered in sweat, and although he had taken off one layer of armor, he dared not take it off again. He could only open his collar and fan himself uncomfortably.
Yun Zhe and Morrison were both second-line soldiers wielding spears, so their situation was somewhat easier. Most of the Aruru mercenaries were assigned to the third line, and Cyrus rushed over to inform Yun Zhe of the casualties.
"Seventeen men fell from their horses, and forty-four were injured. That's not a bad situation." Cyrus was in much better spirits. He asked in a low voice, "Sir, should we prepare to continue the attack?"
Yun Zhe saw through Cyrus's thoughts; he didn't want to fight anymore and wanted to rest. Asking about the attack was just an excuse.
"There will be no more fighting. Defeating this part of the enemy will not change the overall situation on the battlefield. Belvaldo's main force will still safely withdraw to Uralburg. What we can do may seem like we've created trouble for them, but in reality, we've bought ourselves a chance to survive. After all, I don't think the enemy has any mobile forces to pursue us."
Yun Zhe's judgment was correct. After learning the final battle results through the raven, Yom simply breathed a sigh of relief, without any further emotion. He finally understood why those six thousand cavalry dared to pursue them; knowing this information made him even happier than knowing that the main force had finally received reinforcements. He also didn't blame Kruger and Kurman, after all, they had performed well against such a completely new opponent.
In any case, his troops were all safe. Oh, except for the 20,000 seriously ill soldiers, but that didn't matter; the enemy wouldn't bother with those 20,000. Gao had a vague feeling that the enemy didn't have much follow-up attack capability. If he added another spark here, the enemy might completely collapse. It was just a pity that he no longer had any troops left to set fires.
Gao stood at the entrance of his tent, looking in the direction of Yun Zhe and the others. A smile appeared on his lips.
“Duke Salder, is it? I’ll remember you. I hope you can hold on until I return.”
At the same time, Tedler's feelings became truly complex. This complexity was both unrelated to and related to the current battle situation. He noticed that the soldiers were discussing today's battle, and in their joy, they attributed all the credit for the victory to Yun Zhe's strange formation. As for himself, he was no longer the focus of the soldiers' conversation.
Tedler approached Charles, whose arm was dislocated, but fortunately it wasn't serious. A soldier was bandaging him. Seeing Tedler's unsmiling face, Charles immediately realized the seriousness of the situation.
"Sir, what has happened?"
Tedler didn't speak, but simply glanced at Charles's shoulder. Then he asked, "Charles, what do you think of Yun Zhe?"
Charles rolled his eyes; this question was a bit difficult for him. "Sir, Yun Zhe is first and foremost an Aruru, and secondly, he is Serena's subordinate. Whether he is good or bad has nothing to do with me."
Tedler's mood improved a bit. He nodded and then smiled. "Actually, you think he's pretty good too, right?"
"My lord, to be honest, it is indeed impressive to think of charging with double-layered armor. And as you saw, the enemy is no match for us at all. John has gone berserk. It is the first time I have ever seen him so brave."
Tedler nodded. "Yes, that's a good idea. I think we might have to do another charge like that soon."
"You mean the capital, sir?"
Tedler nodded, then gave a wry smile. "What am I going to say when I get back? That's going to be tough."
Charles scratched his head, unable to figure out where the difficulty lay. He figured he could just claim credit for Yun Zhe's achievement, since Yun Zhe probably wouldn't care anyway.
Tedler patted Charles on the shoulder, then went to visit the other wounded soldiers.
Yun Zhe was chatting with the wounded soldiers when he saw a dark figure rush towards him. Akdina, with tears in her eyes but a smile on her face, rushed towards Yun Zhe.
Yun Zhe quickly helped Akdina up. "Why are you back? So fast?"
Akdina shook her head. "I didn't leave. I've been staying with the main group."
Yun Zhe sighed, "It was dangerous, and... well, anyway, we won." Yun Zhe wanted to mention the things Akdina had brought back, but after thinking about it, he realized there was no need for them now.
However, Yun Zhe quickly sensed that the atmosphere around him was off. He looked around and saw that the soldiers were all staring at them with gossipy eyes, which made Yun Zhe a little embarrassed. "Alright, alright, everyone hurry up and take what's in that big package." Then Yun Zhe looked at Akdina, "I'll still need to trouble you later to return the things that weren't taken."
Akdina pouted slightly, clearly dissatisfied.
Yun Zhe thought for a moment, then looked around. "Hurry up and pack your things. I'll take you all back together later!"
