Chapter Eleven: A Son of a Wealthy Family Should Not Sit Under a Leaning Roof

The situation was indeed very critical. There were more than ten cavalrymen outside. Although they could perfectly avoid the cavalry charge by hiding in the doorway, the cavalrymen were an impenetrable wall that they could not break through.

What's even more troublesome are the infantry. In this world, unless there's a huge disparity in equipment, infantry duels are basically one-for-one. So the best-case scenario is that these thirty-odd men can trade one-for-one with the enemy infantry, leaving the remaining seventy-odd enemy infantry to do whatever they want, not to mention a squad of archers, while their side doesn't even have a shield.

These were Newrent's true thoughts at that moment. After reading these thoughts, Yun Zhe couldn't help but feel curious. Given such a pessimistic situation, what good solutions did they have for breaking the deadlock?

The encirclement has been formed. Inside the city, there are more than ten soldiers armed with swords and shields, followed by a row of nine archers.

Outside the city, a force of one hundred men, both infantry and cavalry, was densely arrayed in three ranks. Infantry on one side, cavalry on the other. Horses neighed and flags fluttered; they awaited only the order to attack.

Meanwhile, on his side, a disheveled noblewoman was holding a little girl in white, whispering words of comfort. Wood's father was anxiously talking to the two knights, Luke and Newrent. Wood wanted to join in, but couldn't get a word in edgewise and could only lie on his horse, watching his father's worried face.

Yun Zhe turned his head and saw a pair of ice-blue eyes looking at him.

Yun Zhe responded with a smile. The girl tilted her head, her fingers gently plucking at the bowstring, her eyes holding an indescribable expression, but definitely not a pleasant one.

Yun Zhe was suddenly horrified. He couldn't sense the girl's thoughts. Could it be... that she was one of his own kind?

In that vampire diary, the author's records of his fellow vampires were always very brief. Given that guy's personality, this shows that he never got anything good from his fellow vampires.

Yun Zhe felt a strong urge to run away from this body.

"You stand right here!" Yun Zhe shouted fiercely in his heart.

A ruthless glint flashed in Yun Zhe's eyes. He was now fairly certain about the state of this body. His consciousness controlled the body, while his subconscious remained that of the vampire.

Yun Zhe seemed to understand his situation during this period.

Those icy blue eyes were full of doubt, as if they had discovered something interesting.

Yun Zhe was annoyed by those eyes. His instinctive fear and his own thoughts were constantly battling, making him feel flustered. He couldn't help but glare back fiercely, thinking: What are you looking at? Don't look!

Although I knew it probably wouldn't be of much use, it felt surprisingly good to say it out loud.

The girl's gaze wandered, and she actually turned her head subconsciously for a moment. But halfway through, her gaze returned instantly, and she turned to look at Yun Zhe. A flash of surprise and doubt crossed her eyes, which was replaced by a more playful and curious look.

Yun Zhe felt even more uncomfortable under that gaze, so he simply turned his head away.

On the other side, three people had already ridden up to them. The one in the middle was at the front. By the firelight, Yun Zhe could see the man's appearance clearly. His young and handsome face was covered with a thick beard, and he looked somewhat unkempt. Yun Zhe looked at Wood on horseback, then at the young man on horseback in the middle. You have to admit, he really did look a bit like him.

"Back then, was it your brother Stone?"

Wood nodded, though he didn't speak, but all the complex thoughts he had about his brother flooded into Yun Zhe's mind.

"My dear father, you didn't expect I'd still be alive, did you?"

Wood was filled with questions and looked at his father in surprise. But Yun Zhe looked around and saw that the people around them did not seem surprised, obviously knowing the whole story.

"You've gone your own way. I'm not going to kill you, but I absolutely cannot let you return to your territory!" Although the old man was disheveled, his tone was still quite forceful.

“The Donic family is finished, my dear father. And now you want to elect a 13-year-old girl to the throne? Even if she comes back, can she represent the Donic family? Can she restore the glory of the Donic family?” Stone stroked his sword and then tapped the gleaming silver armor on his horse. “Look at the generous gifts of the Lunlang family. Times have changed, Father.”

"You bastard, times have changed, but have all things changed with them?! A few suits of armor were enough to bribe you? Enough to make you betray your alliance and your family? Stone, you weren't like this before, you, what happened to you..."

Stone looked at his father, who was pounding his chest in despair. Suddenly, Stone raised his neck and looked up at the sky at a 45-degree angle. He took a deep sniff and said, "Father, it is because I have not forgotten that I have come back."

"Returning with two hundred fully armed soldiers?" Nyrent sneered coldly.

“Father, can’t you see the current situation? Leave that wrecked Donic ship. It’s inevitable that the Lunlang family will replace the Donic family as the new lords of this land. Why are you so persistent? The Als and Tra families have already sworn allegiance to the Lunlang family. Father, as long as you agree to my suggestion, our fiefdom will not only not decrease, but will actually increase. The Lunlang family’s generosity is beyond your imagination!”

Clearly, the news that the Als and Tra families had sworn allegiance to Lunlang deeply affected Stone's father.

The Donic family has ruled this land for over a hundred years, and the Ars and Terra families have always been the Donic family's right-hand men. Although the Paz family is also loyal to the Donic family, they are nothing more than a burden to the Donic family. The Ars and Terra families, on the other hand, are the pillars that allow the Donic family to maintain its stable rule over this land.
