Ellie glanced at Yun Zhe, giving him a knowing look. Yun Zhe, recalling Pas's unusual loyalty to the Donic family, nodded as if he understood something.
"Go back, go back, go check on the elves. Their bows and arrows are very good. I'll get you a new one."
Ellie stood still. "My bow and arrow are still working fine, and why did you replace them for me?"
Yun Zhewan didn't expect this answer. He shrugged, "Okay, I want to buy a good bow. Can you help me take a look?"
"Hmph, as expected, he wasn't really giving me this." Ellie rolled her eyes at Yun Zhe and turned to walk towards the elves.
Yun Zhe followed behind, unsure whether to laugh or not.
Most elves are slender and tall with fair skin. And you know what? With those pointed ears, Ellie really does look like an elf.
Ellie strolled up to an elf dressed in a moon-white robe. He sat there, his face handsome, but etched with the marks of time. Elves typically live for between two hundred and two hundred and thirty years, about three times the lifespan of humans. Judging from his appearance, this elf was clearly very old.
In front of him was a blue cloth strip, on which were five white bows of different lengths and something covered by a black cloth. Next to the bows and arrows was a quiver, each containing more than ten arrows.
"Is the young lady looking to buy a bow and arrow?" The old elf smiled slightly and pointed to the second bow on the right. "This bow is the perfect length; it will surely be comfortable for the young lady to use."
Ellie smiled, picked up the bow, straightened up, and gently drew it back. Yun Zhe stood behind her, watching Ellie's upright figure, his eyes lighting up, and he secretly cheered inwardly.
"Boss, this is the one," Yun Zhe squeezed in without waiting for a reply, answering with a smile.
The old elf looked at Yun Zhe with a strange expression in his eyes.
"Oh no, this old elf actually recognizes me!" Yun Zhe read the old elf's thoughts and couldn't help but panic slightly.
But the elf immediately thought he might be mistaken, since there are quite a few people in the world who look alike.
Yun Zhe breathed a long sigh of relief.
"One gold coin"
Yun Zhe's mouth dropped open. He turned to look at Ellie and asked in a low voice, "Is this price real?"
Ellie gently put the bow down and rolled her eyes at Yun Zhe. "Boss, it's not for me, it's for this guy. Take a look."
The old elf paused for a moment, then pointed to the leftmost one, the shortest of the five bows, which looked like a round cake that had been cut in half.
"I'll take both, boss, give me a fair price!"
The old elf was taken aback, then uttered a sentence that made Yun Zhe jump up in frustration.
"Two gold coins".
Ellie covered her mouth and chuckled softly.
"Twenty silver coins, that's the most I can give," Yun Zhe said slowly through gritted teeth.
The old elf was probably encountering someone haggling for the first time. He was slightly taken aback. Twenty silver coins was only four silver coins less than two gold coins. You're already like this, why are you still short four silver coins?
The old elf shook his head. "Two gold coins."
"Boss, I'll buy two bows from you at once. This will save you time setting up your stall. It's better to sell them sooner and go home sooner. I don't have much money left. Twenty silver coins is really the most I can offer."
After listening, the old elf thought for a moment, sighed, and nodded.
Yun Zhe was overjoyed and immediately pulled out a bag containing only silver and copper coins. He counted out 19 silver coins and a handful of 30 copper coins, handing them to the old elf. The elf, seeing Yun Zhe's pained expression and the money scattered on the ground, couldn't help but chuckle slightly.
Ignoring all that, Yun Zhe pointed to the two quivers, and the old elf understood, nodding with an even wider smile.
Yun Zhe handed the two bows to Ellie, slung two quivers over his shoulder, nodded slightly in acknowledgment, and pulled Ellie away in a long stride.
"He's just like him, not only in appearance, but also in his money-grubbing attitude. But I doubt any Aruru person has lived that long, sigh..."
Yun Zhe sensed the old elf's thoughts, his body trembled slightly, but he refrained from turning around and quickly left.
Back at the hotel, Yun Zhe handed everything to Ellie and then noticed Ellie's curious gaze.
"You felt it too?" Yun Zhe asked.
Ellie nodded. "Aren't you going to ask?"
"I don't remember at all. See you again sometime." Yun Zhe walked to the door, turned back to look at Ellie, and said, "Do you think 20 silver coins is a bit too much?"
Ellie was completely taken aback by this question and replied curtly, "It's nothing. After all, you're under a Patinstone lamp that costs a gold coin per lamp. What are twenty silver coins? Twenty gold coins might get some attention."
Yun Zhe pretended not to hear the sarcasm in Ellie's tone. He chuckled, "That puts my mind at ease. Take me to the bookstore tomorrow."
"It'll be sunny tomorrow, can you go out?"
Yun Zhe sighed, "I'll give you two gold coins. Buy me some history books, like heroic legends or something."
Ellie nodded, then asked curiously, "Aren't you afraid I'll embezzle your money?"
Yun Zhe shook his head. "We still don't know where Nightfire is. It's actually quite dangerous for you to go out. You don't need to give me the rest of the money; keep it for yourself."
Ellie shrugged, rolled her eyes at Yun Zhe, and slammed the door shut.
Yun Zhe scratched his head and went back to his room.
Today I only bought two bows, nothing else.
Yun Zhe drew the curtains and took out several longswords and short knives from his Qiankun bag. They looked much more refined than those in the market, and he could faintly sense the power contained within them. Yun Zhe had felt this same way earlier that day at the old elf's stall, right under the black cloth.
