Blaze felt his heartbeat suddenly stop for a moment. Then he saw a pair of silver iron shoes appear before him, and a voice seemed to be saying something, but Blaze didn't hear a word. He was stunned, his ears were a little deaf, and he felt that everything was so unreal.
It took Blaze a long time to recover, and then he heard a sentence he would never forget: "Ars Castle has been breached. Is that why you fled?"
Blazer was lifted up, his eyes wide with disbelief, and exclaimed, "It's been breached?" Then he saw someone who shouldn't have been there: Hart.
Then Blazer noticed something interesting: the soldiers started running out, not in a chaotic rush, but in an orderly fashion, beginning to deploy defenses within the city. Looking up, Blazer saw soldiers on the distant city walls already preparing logs and boulders.
"What happened..." Blaze looked at Hart. "Our castle has fallen? Has the enemy already attacked?"
He was somewhat confused and bewildered; things had progressed too quickly, exceeding his expectations.
“Sinde has betrayed us! He attacked us! We…we escaped, but on the way here we saw a large force, a large force of the Donic family army…”
Leon interrupted him, "What is your choice?"
For a fleeting moment, Blaze thought of taking revenge, breaking free of his restraints, and killing the man before him. But he suppressed the impulse, swallowed hard, and said, "I will gather an army and reclaim Arth's castle."
Leon looked at the young man in front of him with some doubt, as his answer was completely unrelated to the question he had asked.
But that wasn't the most pressing problem at the moment. Leon waved his hand, signaling the men to untie themselves. "That's settled then. You gather the army, then start dealing with the Donic garrison there. Here's a free suggestion: set it on fire." With that, Leon turned and mounted his warhorse, said a few words to those around him, and rode away.
Hart looked at Blazer somewhat awkwardly.
Blaze twisted his wrist and asked, "You're the only one who escaped? Where's your sister?"
Hart's already gloomy face darkened even more.
"She died, but she didn't suffer much. She had already taken poison when she entrusted Avril to me, and I didn't notice at the time..." As she spoke, tears involuntarily streamed down her face.
Blazer didn't have much affection for Hart, who liked to boast. He nodded and asked, "How many troops did you bring? How many troops did you see?"
Hart rubbed his eyes. "They really have a lot of people, close to two thousand."
Blazer frowned, then ignored him and walked over to the fallen Ars, which was the important thing for him at that moment.
He knew he wanted revenge, and the targets of his revenge had increased from one to two: Donic and the Lunlang family were both his enemies. However, he didn't yet have a good method or a well-developed plan.
But before he could figure this out, he still had a lot to do, such as how to gather more soldiers, how to complete his current mission, and how to survive.
Of course, the most important thing is how to bury Baron Arles.
Serena's army had been marching slowly at first, wary of scouts and fleeing soldiers, clearing them out before proceeding cautiously. However, upon receiving Andrew's message this morning, their pace suddenly quickened. Ignoring the loitering scouts, they trotted towards Donic Castle.
Below the castle stood the soldiers of the Lunlang family, already lined up in battle formation, ready for action.
If Andrew hadn't been communicating with her via scrolls, she would have truly believed that Donic Castle had completely fallen.
Instead of engaging in any pre-war declarations or similar activities, the two sides clashed directly and forcefully.
It's easy to understand, as time is very precious to both parties.
Donic was divided into two parts, serving as both attackers and defenders. The Lunlang family was in a similar situation, besieged on both sides, tasked with annihilating the last remaining die-hard Donic members within the castle while simultaneously withstanding the powerful offensive of Donic reinforcements on the periphery.
The Lunlang family had never fought such a complex battle before.
What the soldiers of the Lunlang family and their allies did not know was that from the very beginning of the war, Leon had already begun to consider how to end the battle gracefully, because he knew that he had already lost half the battle.
However, maintaining a dignified appearance always comes at a heavy price. So Leon is prepared to take a gamble. He feels he has already paid a heavy enough price, so he doesn't care about appearances; he cares more about winning or losing.
Thick black smoke was rising from Donic Castle. Leon looked over and knew that the high ground at the heart of Donic Castle had been set ablaze; the goddess of victory had been somewhat kind to him after all.
Leon then issued an order for his soldiers to withdraw from the battlefield in an orderly manner.
The order was issued in secret, and soon Donic's soldiers discovered that the soldiers of the Lunlang family, who had been fighting them on equal footing, had all disappeared. They quickly occupied the entire castle, and at this time, Leon, who had already evacuated the castle, ordered his soldiers to fire all the rockets at Donic Castle.
The fire instantly engulfed half of Donic Castle. The newly started fire, along with the already blazing fire in the center of Donic, resonated with each other and spread throughout the entire castle in an instant.
Leon gave a cruel smile. He calmly had his attendants remove their armor, and then ordered his soldiers to prepare for a charge.
He needed to rest; he was getting old and couldn't wear armor for long periods of time anymore.
He sat on a large rock covered with a canvas bag, looking at the raging fire and listening to the faint screams coming from it, and his smile became even more pronounced.
"Fire, burn even more fiercely!" he murmured to himself. "It's all for you, my dear Gosa."
A bolt of lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, followed by a deafening rumble of thunder.
Leon suddenly stood up straight and looked up at the sky.
Black smoke filled the sky, and above the smoke were dense, dark clouds.
Leon's smile froze on his face, then he felt a raindrop hit the center of his forehead, followed by another, and another.
Soon, the scattered raindrops turned into a continuous drizzle, and then into a torrential downpour...
Leon stood in the rain, his mind blank for a moment.
"When did it become cloudy? Wasn't today a sunny day?" Countless chaotic pieces of information flashed through his mind, but none of them addressed the current situation.
The heavy rain lashed down on Leon, quickly soaking his clothes. But Leon pushed away the squire who came to hold an umbrella for him. He looked up at the sky, his face wet, it was hard to tell whether it was rain or tears.
