Yun Zhe and Jerok ran quickly through the forest. As they ran, Jerok asked Yun Zhe a question in confusion.
"How do you know she's a princess? And how can you be so sure she'll let us go?"
Yun Zhe thought for a moment before answering Jerok's question.
"Actually, the reason I knew she held a high position among the elves was because of the thoughts of a dying elf. That's how I came up with this possibility. The soldier's last thought was that the princess was nearby and would definitely come to save us. After that, we encountered that white tiger knight."
“So it was just a coincidence,” Jerok seemed somewhat disappointed.
"I suppose so." Yun Zhe thought for a moment, without going into detail about his several attempts. One reason was that Yun Zhe also felt there was an element of luck involved.
"Then why did she let us go?"
Thinking of this, Yun Zhe sighed softly, "It was also lucky. She saw the elven-specific food I dropped, and then I told her we had raided their supply route. So she guessed that we were numerous and quite formidable. She felt that fighting on two fronts was disadvantageous for the elves... and then she thought that what I said at the beginning wasn't entirely out of the question..."
Jerok looked bewildered. "You can sense her thoughts, right? When you were fighting..."
"It happened very quickly... how should I put it, the conclusion just popped into her mind all at once..." Yun Zhe replied.
"Anyway, it's a good thing you stopped, otherwise I would have been eaten by that white tiger..."
Yun Zhe gave an awkward laugh. When he said, "Letting us go will save us more lives," he was confident the elf would stop. But clearly, he didn't understand her. Arrows continued to rain down on him, forcing him to dodge awkwardly. Before he could react, she was already charging at him with her twin swords. Meanwhile, on the other side, Jelock had his weapon knocked away by a slap from the White Tiger.
The elven white tiger knight was indeed far superior in strength to ordinary elven soldiers. Her speed and martial arts were both top-notch, and the gentle breezes surrounding her further enhanced her speed and sharpness. Worse still, after Yun Zhe confirmed her noble status, he became even more hesitant, forcing him to dodge with all his might. If it weren't for the biscuit that accidentally fell from his arms, he couldn't even imagine how this situation would have ended.
"Heaven has a benevolent heart, and this girl also possesses the keen insight of a politician..." Yun Zhe silently thanked all the gods he knew from his past and present lives, and then he saw a large pile of wood by the roadside. It was made up of cars smashed to pieces.
Yun Zhe stopped walking. "Jerok, you go back. I'll wait for the princess here. Don't tell anyone about our meeting with the elves tonight. We'll talk about it when I get back."
Jerok was somewhat displeased. Although he didn't quite understand what Yun Zhe and the elf had discussed at the end, his intuition told him that their conversation concerned everyone's lives and held the potential for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. How could such a good thing be kept from everyone?
Seeing Jerok's displeased expression, Yun Zhe realized that his decision had made Jerok feel distrusted. He hurriedly explained.
“It’s not that we don’t trust you to explain this clearly, but frankly, this is all wishful thinking on our part, and the initiative is in the hands of the elves. If they feel they don’t need to cooperate with us, then explaining these things tonight will only leave everyone disappointed. What’s worse is that if the elves take advantage of our eagerness to make peace and launch a sneak attack or demand exorbitant prices, we’ll be even more passive.”
Upon hearing this, Jerok couldn't help but admire Yun Zhe's caution. Thinking it over carefully, the matter was indeed too hasty; the other side might think it was just a fabricated excuse to escape. If they were to tell Serena and the others about this, it would only make them appear cowardly and incompetent.
Jerok nodded. "Be careful. Once I'm gone, no one will come to your aid. If those elves go back on their word, I won't be able to help you either."
"It's alright. If we don't see any thick smoke rising by noon tomorrow, then the elves have probably completely turned against us. At that point, you should leave that place, preserve your strength, and try to survive." Yun Zhe said casually, but Jelock's expression was grim.
"How about we stay here and wait for the result before we leave? Anyway, you and that elf agreed to meet tomorrow at noon, so it doesn't matter if it's a little earlier or later."
"Here's the deal: tomorrow you'll hide in the shadows, and if things look bad, you'll run away as fast as you can, relaying all the news from the past two days back. If you don't agree, go back now." Seeing that Jelock's attitude was firm, Yun Zhe came up with a compromise.
Jerok still looked troubled. Yun Zhe's decision was, in effect, protecting him. This feeling of being protected didn't make Jerok feel at ease. But considering that Yun Zhe wasn't just an ordinary Aruruman as he seemed, he reluctantly nodded.
"Oh right, didn't you leave all your weapons on the way? I have some armor and weapons here. Try them on, and if they fit, they're yours." With that, in Jerok's eyes, Yun Zhe magically conjured a huge, one-piece suit of armor, a long-handled broadsword with a blade shaped like a flag, a longbow, and a broadsword.
Jerok looked at these items. They were exquisitely crafted, exuding a cold and cruel beauty even in the night. Clearly, they were no ordinary objects. And most importantly, "This is... a headhunter's axe, a wolf-slaying sword... these are orc weapons..." Jerok had felt a sense of familiarity when Yun Zhe took out the first long-handled broadsword, and now he finally understood what it was. The weapons Yun Zhe had produced were two of the most popular weapons among the southern orcs: a long-handled headhunter's axe, shaped like a flag, with three edges, a thick blade, and a sharp edge. Orcs loved using it to decapitate humans. As for the wolf-slaying sword, it was a greatsword favored by orcs, wider and longer than a human one-handed sword, befitting the orcs' tall stature. Its thick blade could kill an orc's war wolf with a single strike. As for the armor, it was human armor, but an old piece; this style was no longer fashionable. As for that longbow, it seemed to be a standard longbow from the Desao Empire in the east.
Yun Zhe let out an "Oh." So these were orcish tools; no wonder they were so awkward to use. Yun Zhe thought to himself, "It seems my judgment was correct. These things are perfect for the tall and strong Jelock."
Jerok was tall, considered very tall among humans and of average height among orcs. Therefore, he wielded these weapons quite well. Even the armor suited him well, though it was only slightly too large.
Jerok really wanted to ask Yun Zhe where he got all these weapons, and more importantly, how he conjured them. But considering that Yun Zhe was three or four hundred years old, it was normal for him to have some secrets. So he gave up the idea.
Yun Zhe looked at the fully armed Jerok and was very satisfied.
"Indeed, there's no such thing as an excess of things; the key is to use them in the right place."
