Seventy-five, the final push

Yun Zhe was overjoyed, as taking the initiative to walk over was much more advantageous than walking over himself. However, when Arthas approached, Yun Zhe awkwardly realized that Arthas had come to him about something else—his page, a girl named Usha.

Yun Zhe was immediately at a loss; he had experienced firsthand how rigid and conservative Arthas was.

“You know that the page you took in is not from our country,” Arthas said bluntly.

Yun Zhe thought he would be particular about matters between men and women, but unexpectedly, an even more difficult problem came up.

"I asked that little girl, and she was born here. As for her parents and how she came to be, I don't think we need to investigate further." Yun Zhe secretly rejoiced that he had been prepared. He couldn't help but feel a little smug.

“Oh?” Arthas raised an eyebrow. “So she really is a girl.”

Yun Zhe was a little confused this time. "You don't know, or are you pretending to be stupid?" Yun Zhe thought to himself, but he quickly realized that Arthas's face didn't seem so serious. Yun Zhe was even more confused, because Arthas's mind was full of thoughts of making a fool of Yun Zhe.

Yun Zhe scratched his head and asked cautiously, "You don't object?"

Arthas laughed heartily. "When I first heard about it, I was a little angry. But then I thought, since it's you, it's not surprising that you went a bit too far. Besides, I don't have a bad impression of you, do I?"

Yun Zhe grinned, thinking that Arthas had never seemed to be overly hostile towards him. After a moment's thought, Yun Zhe shared his concerns and thoughts with Arthas, hoping to gain his approval for the nighttime march plan.

After listening, Arthas frowned and looked at Yun Zhe. "It seems I can't help you with this. I can't let the soldiers be overworked because of your fear, especially since traveling at night is dangerous. We don't have any night vision scrolls. But I understand your anxiety. We've already come this far, so there's no rush for this last day, is there?"

Yun Zhe nodded. Arthas was right. If he didn't know that the Donic garrison was only half the size they remembered, his behavior did indeed resemble that of a knight driven by his own fear. This was a major taboo for a general.

Yun Zhe felt a pang of bitterness in his heart. How could he persuade them? Should he reveal the cruel truth he knew?

Seeing Yun Zhe's conflicted expression and hesitation, Arthas couldn't help but ask curiously, "Yun Zhe, do you know something? Don't hold back, tell me."

Yun Zhe grinned. "I think the Lunlang family definitely wants to take Donic City quickly, so they'll stop at nothing to save face. That's what I'm worried about. I'm afraid that by the time we arrive, they'll have already taken Donic City, and we'll not only be passive but also in an awkward position. These past few days will have been wasted on the road." Yun Zhe's tone was anxious, as if this failure would ruin his entire command career.

Arthas sensed the regret and resentment in Yun Zhe's tone. He understood how ironic it would be for Yun Zhe to see a captured castle tomorrow. However, he also understood that these were just Yun Zhe's own worries, without any concrete evidence. In the end, Arthas nodded in agreement with Yun Zhe's idea, "I understand your thoughts. I'll talk to Andrew. You should come along too."

Yun Zhe was overjoyed. At least he had secured Arthas this time, so things should go more smoothly.

Andrew unsurprisingly rejected the idea, arguing that it would panic the soldiers and fuel unfounded speculation. Furthermore, even if they reached the battlefield by day, would the soldiers be in high spirits for battle? If the soldiers rested in the wagons, the wagons would have to travel at a very slow pace, making nighttime marching pointless.

Arthas shrugged, looking at Yun Zhe with an expression that seemed to say, "See, I told you so."

Yun Zhe knew all this, and knew that what Andrew said was true, but, but... should he reveal the reason?

"It's strange, why should I keep that countess's secret?" Yun Zhe took a deep breath, then thought about the possible consequences of revealing the secret, and forcibly held back.

"A small act of impatience can ruin a great plan," Yun Zhe told himself, and had no choice but to continue searching for a suitable reason.

"Arriving early doesn't necessarily mean we have to attack. We can ambush and rest nearby, then surprise them in the evening when their attack fails. If we arrive tomorrow, at most we can only launch a night attack. Or worse, we can only make a show of force and then wait another day."

Yun Zhe understood that Andrew desired a victory even more than he did, and that the significance of this victory might lie more in its political implications. Therefore, Yun Zhe exaggerated, or rather, fabricated, some possible scenarios.

The effect was excellent. Although Andrew didn't say anything, he had already envisioned the scene of a great victory in his mind.

As the sun set, he led his cavalry, like a sharp dagger, tearing through the enemy lines. The mere thought of two hundred cavalrymen decisively defeating an army ten times their size is exhilarating.

But Andrew quickly calmed down. Rationally speaking, two hundred people were only enough for a surprise attack.

Yun Zhe hurriedly added, "If Donic City still has the strength, then if they cooperate with us, the outcome might be decided in one battle. Even if the Lunlang family wants to fight again, their situation will be different from what it is now."

Although Andrew wasn't particularly adept at strategy, he was quite perceptive about political matters. He understood perfectly what a victory meant. Even simply chasing the enemy for a few hundred meters was enough to give Donic City hope.

“I agree, but how do we convince the soldiers? Running over there in one night will arouse their suspicion.” Andrew still struggled to ask one last question.

"To be honest, if we go there tonight and kick those bastards from the Lunlang family's asses tomorrow morning, I think the soldiers will not only not object, but will be extremely enthusiastic." Yun Zhe thought for a moment and then came up with a solution.

Andrew stood with one hand on his hip and the other gripping his sword, staring at Yun Zhe for a long time. "Tell me, did you plan this all along?"

Yun Zhe chuckled, then shook his head. "I'm just making the best decision for us. After all, we all want to win."

Andrew tilted his head slightly and looked at Yun Zhe. He had reason to believe that Yun Zhe was doing this to prove himself, or for the thousand gold coins, but whatever the reason, Yun Zhe's plan hadn't gone wrong so far. So, why not trust him one more time?
