The Great Fireball of 139

The deafening roar grew closer, unlike any of the previous attacks by the elves. Before, the elves would always appear silently and then launch a fierce charge. This time, however, their tactics were clearly different.

The elven cavalry scouts quickly discovered the human soldiers' campfire. Without informing the main force of their discovery, they charged forward, shouting as they went.

From the humans' perspective, it was fortunate that the elven scouts and the main force weren't far apart. Otherwise, their half-day of preparation might have only been enough to deal with a dozen or so elven cavalrymen. For the elves, however, the main force closely pursuing the human soldiers marked the beginning of their descent into hell.

The elven soldiers scattered and attacked, and the human soldiers, mainly responsible for luring the enemy in, panicked and fled in all directions. They forgot their mission, and only a small number followed Zade's carriage into the ambush area. This gave Yun Zhe a major headache. Getting a fish to bite the bait is a matter of skill, but if the fish doesn't take the bait, even the best technique is useless.

Ignoring Arthas's attempts to stop him, Yun Zhe leaped onto his horse and galloped towards the carriage. Reaching the carriage driven by Zard, he shouted, "You can't run now! You need to find a place to fight the elves to attract more of them. Otherwise, the plan will fail!"

Zade was running with great enthusiasm when he heard Yun Zhe's request and was shocked. He understood that Yun Zhe meant for them to attract more elves, but the consequence of doing so would be the sacrifice of the entire Royal Guard.

Zade hesitated. Yun Zhe looked back and saw that the elven cavalry that had come with him numbered only fifty or sixty. They would soon rush into the ambush. If Zade did not agree, they would have no choice but to burn these fifty or sixty men.

Yun Zhe touched the scroll in his arms. It was a scroll he had taken out of his Qiankun bag because he was worried that it wouldn't burn enough. The scroll was tied with a white paper strip and had three big characters written on it: Great Fireball.

“It seems we won’t need it,” Yun Zhe said, seeing that Zade remained silent. He figured that this was the extent of the plan’s success. Although he felt uncomfortable, he had no right to force Zade to make such a sacrifice.

But another elven cavalry unit spotted them. This unit was commanded by Diadinis, who noticed the speeding carriage and the fully armored cavalrymen beside it. He narrowed his eyes and quickly made a judgment: the human countess was in that carriage! With a wave of his hand, another sixty or seventy elven cavalrymen followed him to intercept the carriage.

"I'm so angry!" Yun Zhe couldn't help but swear when he saw another group of elven cavalry cutting in from the side.

Zadeh also understood that if they were intercepted, the whole plan would fall through.

"Stop them!!" Zade glanced at the young man on horseback on the other side. The young man didn't reply, but just nodded at him. Then he pulled the reins, and dozens of guards rushed forward.

The humans' reactions further proved it was a large fish. Diadinis became even more excited, as if he could already see a gleaming gold medal. He laughed heartily and said to an elven mage beside him, "See? You made the right choice following me!"

The elven mage was a young elf in her early thirties who had just come of age. When she saw Diadinis's face, which was made even more handsome by his smile, her own face flushed.

Seeing the elf's reaction, Diadinis became even happier, and he began to think about how to enjoy this girl tonight.

With battle achievements before me and beautiful women by my side, tonight will be the night of my triumph and fame!

Yun Zhe also planned to follow the cavalry to stop the elven cavalry, but was stopped by Zadra.

“You have to stay with me!” Zad shouted. “We all need you tonight!”

Yun Zhe was taken aback. Zade's words were simple, but Yun Zhe clearly saw through all the thoughts in his mind. Zade firmly believed that Yun Zhe would make the elves suffer a great loss tonight, and he also firmly believed that only Yun Zhe could make the elves suffer a great loss.

This trust is a bit heavy.

Yun Zhe nodded and followed the carriage toward the ambush site.

Meanwhile, the elves and humans were already at war.

As everyone could have predicted, all thirty-odd members of the Royal Guard were killed, while dozens more elves joined the pursuit of the carriage.

"Come on, come on, all of you, long-eared monster!" Zad's eyes were already filled with anger and tears as he watched the soldiers fall one by one. So when he saw that the elves had joined dozens more, he was even happier.

The elves' arrows are already reaching the carriage. This means the elves are very close. In that case, they might be destined to be burned along with the other elves.

Yun Zhe looked at Zade, who clearly understood his predicament as well, but he had already disregarded life and death. He had this idea when his soldiers went to intercept the elven cavalry. And this desperate situation was precisely the opportunity that would fulfill his wish.

They had already charged into the ambush area, followed by 150 or 160 elven cavalrymen, roughly half of the elven cavalry they had tonight.

It was worth it! Zade's heart pounded wildly after hearing the number of people Yun Zhe mentioned.

Yun Zhe took out a scroll from his pocket, bit off the paper strip binding it with his teeth, and then unfurled it in the wind.

The purple scroll flashed with a red light and then slowly turned into ashes.

The world fell silent for a moment, even the wind stopped for a second. Then everything returned to normal.

Yun Zhe on horseback didn't feel the surging magic. He was simply dumbfounded because no large fireball appeared, which was precisely the signal they had agreed upon for the attack. The large fireball was gone; either he couldn't see it, or the scroll was broken.
