The shocking change in the Lang family at the age of eighty-three

The next day, still no one from the Lunlang family came.

The Donic family was somewhat flustered; they had never seen anything like this before. Normally, when an important figure died in battle, the body would be retrieved immediately, but this time the Lunlang family didn't seem to intend to follow the usual procedure.

However, as the victor in the previous defensive battle, they had no reason to proactively send an envoy. This was also a tacitly agreed-upon rule.

"They didn't follow the rules, so what do we do? Just wait here?" Yun Zhe looked at the people on the platform, eager to know their thoughts.

At this moment, Andrew, George, Philby, and Alsace stood in a line, all looking towards the direction of the Lunlang family camp.

"Will they try to intercept our reinforcements?" Arthas asked with some concern.

Everyone else looked at Andrew, who shook his head. "We haven't found any news about their scouts yet. Even if they have an ambush plan, we probably won't encounter them until tomorrow. It's safe for now."

"All three camps are unusually quiet. Could they have already retreated?" Philby desperately hoped they would stop there and withdraw. After all, at this point in the battle, in terms of numbers, they didn't have much of a chance of winning.

Yun Zhe nodded. "Their child has died. Such a significant loss might really damage their morale, and they might just swallow their losses and retreat." Yun Zhe wasn't being sarcastic; he'd recently heard about too many strange rules, and he felt that even if the other side retreated, it wouldn't surprise him.

But Philby felt a chilling irony in the statement, even though the speaker was clearly agreeing with him. This made him even more upset, because in every war, if a leader of that family died in the army, they would never let the matter rest. Unless both men were killed in battle, there was no possibility of continuing the fight, because the soldiers would all desert.

Yun Zhe suddenly realized why each family always had at least two leaders when they went to war. It was a double insurance policy to ensure they could continue fighting.

Everyone seemed quite pleased that Philby had gotten the short end of the stick. They started teasing him, but Philby didn't get angry and just laughed it off.

Yun Zhe looked towards the distant Lun Lang family's camp, desperately wanting to know what they were doing.

At Lunlang's camp, Adam had been keeping a low profile for the past two days. After the crushing defeat that night, he acted completely out of character, not blaming any of the captains, but instead offering kind words of advice to each returning captain. He was a completely different person from the one who had led the attack during the day.

The captains were unsure how to respond, but despite suffering a defeat and losing a member of the Lunlang family's heir, they hadn't been reprimanded. Although they couldn't understand it, they were still overjoyed and didn't dwell on it. They only wanted to perform better in tomorrow's battle and avenge today's humiliation.

The captains, unusually proactive, gathered in small groups early the next morning to discuss their attack strategy, how to break through the troublesome wagon formation, and how to wreak havoc once inside the city. The atmosphere grew increasingly heated, as if they had already stormed into Donic. However, even as they talked themselves hoarse, their leader Adam was nowhere to be seen, nor were there any orders to prepare for battle.

Everyone waited from morning until noon, and from noon until afternoon, but there was still no news.

Adam's tent was quiet; no one went in or out except for his servant who came out to get a meal.

Although the captains of the hundred-man squads were eager for battle, they had suffered a defeat the previous day, and none of them dared to volunteer for combat in Adam's tent, risking further trouble. So they gathered again, all believing Adam was still grieving and hadn't recovered. They could only engage in one last round of verbal sparring to vent their frustrations, then have a drink and go back to sleep, awaiting orders the next day.

But the next day, still no orders were given.

The captains of the hundred men discussed amongst themselves, but none of them dared to knock on the door of Adam's tent.

Days passed, and Adam Lunlang's tent remained silent. The atmosphere at Lunlang's camp gradually shifted from one of vengeful fervor to one of widespread anxiety. Discussions raged, no longer focusing on the fighting, but rather on all sorts of absurd and wild speculations.

On the morning of the fourth day, the deep, powerful sound of horses' hooves shattered the tranquility of the Lunlang camp.

Thinking they were under attack, the soldiers grabbed their weapons and rushed out of their tents. What they saw then shocked them.

Their Count, Leonrenlang, led a troop of cavalry, fully armed, into the camp, and then trampled Adam's tent!
