The top 22 teams leave Jialai

The bell rang, six times.

Alsace and Lorraine exchanged a glance in front of the carriage, then pulled on the reins, and the two carriages sped away from the inn.

Ellie quickly harnessed the horse, then, after thinking for a moment, decided against driving and followed alone. They were already more than a block apart.

But everything went smoothly, which put Ellie at ease. The streets were busier, and the carriage couldn't move very fast. Ellie walked and stopped intermittently, always keeping a block's distance behind the carriage.

Ellie noticed that the two carriages seemed to be going the wrong way. Instead of taking the shortest route out of Garai, they were going in circles, seemingly intending to exit through another gate.

People began to flock to the night market. At this time of day, there weren't many vendors selling goods, but there were the most people selling various snacks.

Ellie bought a donut, only realizing when she was paying that the money belonged to that vampire, Aruru.

"That greedy bastard is probably cursing himself for taking his money right now."

Yun Zhe sneezed and realized he had fallen asleep. Looking out the window, the sun hadn't completely set yet, so it shouldn't be long. Bored, Yun Zhe tidied up his things again. The longsword was too flashy, so he'd put it aside for now. The short sword and crossbow were all put away. The only problem was that he didn't have many decent clothes; he'd have to wait until nightfall to go to the night market and buy some.

Yun Zhe looked out the window, and what he saw almost made him jump up.

His car was already set up?!

Ellie saw a familiar bald head with a flame-like tattoo on his neck, but the man's gaze wasn't on her; it was fixed on the two carriages in front of him.

Ellie pulled up her hood, gripped her sword hilt, and strode toward the bald man. A direct confrontation would be too conspicuous, but Ellie was confident she could kill him with a single blow in a crowd.

But the bald man ran even faster. He roared loudly, and then five or six men with flame tattoos appeared nearby and rushed towards the carriage.

The carriage sped along, but the road was crowded with people, so it didn't move very fast.

Ellie heard the sound of hooves and turned around to see the Nightfire leader riding towards them, followed by a sparse group of cavalrymen hurriedly mounting their horses—the Nightfire mercenary group on horseback.

People started to scatter. Although they didn't know what was going on, it was unwise to stay at the scene any longer.

Those few people in front probably couldn't stop the carriage, but the cavalry would be a different story.

Ellie's mind raced; she wanted to do something but couldn't come up with any concrete ideas.

She suddenly felt that if Yun Zhe were here, perhaps he could find a way. This feeling was so strong that she couldn't help but doubt herself. ...Yun Zhe, the carriage...

Ellie felt she had grasped something, and a bold idea formed in her mind. At that moment, disregarding whether it would expose her vampire identity, Ellie ran back to the inn like a madwoman and, right under Yun Zhe's nose, drove off.

At that time, Yun Zhe was hiding in a corner on the first floor, gazing wistfully at the setting sun that had not yet completely disappeared.

Ellie drove onto the road and saw the Nightfire mercenary group on horseback already gathered in a large group. Their leader drew his long sword and began to direct his men, assigning them tasks. They were clearly preparing to disperse and intercept the carriage.

With time running out, Ellie turned around and kicked over the money box in the carriage, then rushed straight towards the main road between the cavalry and the carriage.

The main road was not wide, only wide enough for two carriages to pass side by side. There weren't many pedestrians, and most of them had noticed the Nightfire Mercenaries' posture. They hid under the eaves, whispering and discussing among themselves.

Ellie flicked the reins, and the horse galloped off happily. On the main road, the carriage bumped along, silver coins jingling and clinking, finally attracting people's attention.

Silver coins! Silver coins! People cried out in alarm, then cheered, and rushed into the street to pick up and grab them. In no time, the entire street was packed with people, a chaotic and crowded scene. It was even more lively than the night market next door.

It's hard to imagine that so many people can be accommodated in the low-rise houses lining this street.

Ellie turned around and saw the leader seemingly about to spur his horse through the crowd and head straight for the carriage. Suddenly, she turned back and kicked, causing the money box to shake and another large pile of silver coins to clatter to the ground.

People went even crazier. They screamed, scrambled, and the cacophony drowned out a desperate voice.

"My money! This is all my money!!!"

People disregarded everything and scrambled for the silver coins as if they were fighting over what was rightfully theirs. Soon, cursing, tearing, and even punching and kicking ensued, escalating the chaos in the street.

The news spread further and further, and more and more people gathered. Some even ran two blocks to grab the silver coins.

Even people in the night market rushed out to grab the silver coins.

Ellie went all out, kicking him every few steps she took.

Silver coins were scattered all over half the street, which was packed with people. If viewed from above, the narrow street, overflowing with all sorts of people, seemed to be bursting at the seams.

Ellie kicked the box off the carriage, sending it tumbling down the street along with the last few dozen silver coins. This caused several nearby women to start fighting.

The Nightfire mercenaries had abandoned their charge; such a charge would have resulted in many deaths. The number of dead was beyond the limits of their alliance with the city lord. They couldn't explain such a massive loss to the city lord; otherwise, their losses might have extended far beyond just this one deal.

Bald Ted was frantic. The number of people around him was dwindling, and the carriage was moving faster and faster. Why hadn't his brother's cavalry arrived yet? Ted stared intently at the carriage in front of him. It was only ten paces away. Just as Ted was feeling smug, a beam of ice suddenly shot out from the carriage. Ted swung his axe to block it, but it felt like he had been struck by a heavy blow, and his body froze for a moment.
