Chapter 164 A Blessing in Disguise

“This servant knows that Your Highness is unhappy. It was this servant who did something wrong, and this servant does not expect to be forgiven by Your Highness. Fourth Master said that Your Highness did have an accident in the manor yesterday. If someone with ulterior motives gets the news, they will definitely harm Your Highness. The only way is to dismiss this servant and divert outside attention. Your Highness fell ill precisely because she was so upset by this matter.”

"And what about you? Aren't you feeling wronged?" Heyue asked her.

Yu Ying's eyes flashed, and she shook her head: "This servant is not wronged. I am already satisfied to be able to serve the Fourth Prince."

He Yue was speechless; indeed, love makes people blind.

"Since you've made up your mind, I'll grant it. But there's something I need to tell you." He Yue turned her face away, no longer looking at her.

Yu Ying's expression brightened, and then she heard a gentle, feather-light voice: "From now on, I will have no relationship with you. I will not speak well of you in front of the Fourth Prince because of our past relationship, nor will I try to win his favor for you. You chose this path, and you will have to bear the consequences yourself. Even if one day the Fourth Prince forgets you, neglects you, and favors other women, you must not harbor resentment, because it was your own choice. However, out of consideration for our childhood friendship, I will show you a clear path. No matter when or where, the Fourth Prince's wife will always be your only support."

Yu Ying was moved and filled with remorse. She kowtowed, her voice choked with emotion, "Thank you, Princess. This servant will never forget your great kindness."

"You can leave now." He Yue wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, her expression indifferent.

Yu Ying glanced at He Yue one last time before getting up and leaving.

When there was no further movement at the bedside, Heyue called Hailan in.

“Go to the manor and get fifty taels of silver. Give it to Yu Ying privately, as a token of my appreciation for her devoted service to me in the past.”

Yu Ying entered the Prince's mansion with no one to rely on. If she didn't have money, she would probably face immense hardship. However, given their long-standing relationship, He Yue didn't want to put her in a difficult position.

Heyue was never a saint, nor was she willing to be sad for someone who wasn't worth it.

I've done everything I can to repay her, so as to avoid future enmity.

Hailan grumbled in dissatisfaction, "She's been so heartless to the princess, why does the princess still treat her so well?"

"There's no need to say anything more. You and she practically grew up together, and your bond is deeper than mine. You wouldn't want her to suffer any injustice elsewhere, would you?" He Yue smiled and advised her.

Hailan frowned, indignantly saying, "Who's close to her? I don't have a sister like her!" Despite saying that, she still obediently went back to the mansion to get the money.

He Yue shook her head with amusement, thinking, "She's really stubborn but soft-hearted."

But Hailan returned very soon.

He Yue looked at her in surprise: "How could it be so fast?"

Hailan blushed and stammered, "Princess, Fourth Master is here."

Heyue was surprised, but fortunately she was dressed properly and there was nothing wrong with her. However, after such a thing happened, Heyue did not know how to face the Fourth Prince.

His own maid had climbed into his bed, and although it was because he had been drugged, he still felt embarrassed.

Since ancient times, officials or princes have sent women to other residences, either to curry favor with someone or to monitor political enemies. What is the significance of sending a prince's maidservant?

However, Heyue didn't want to keep the Fourth Prince waiting, so she had Hailan invite him in.

The Fourth Prince was wearing a dark blue prince's court robe and hat, clearly having just returned from the palace and arriving without changing his clothes.

"Heyue greets Your Highness." Heyue bowed respectfully.

The Fourth Prince stood at the door and glanced at her a few times, then suddenly smiled: "The rules are much more proper than before, there's been some progress."

The tense and oppressive atmosphere that had been building since he entered suddenly eased with those words.

He Yue's tense nerves suddenly relaxed, and she smiled awkwardly. Of course, how could she not feel guilty after doing something wrong?

The Fourth Prince sat down in the chair in front of the table, while Heyue stood to the side, head down, twisting her fingers.

"What are you standing for? Come and sit down." The Fourth Prince pointed to the seat next to him.

He Yue pursed her lips, carefully sat down, and kept her head down.

"Raise your head." The tone was commanding.

Left with no other choice, Heyue slowly raised her head, blinking her pitiful eyes as she met his gaze.

"What are you so scared of? Do you think I'd eat you?" The Fourth Prince couldn't help but laugh, his gaze softening.

"Well, if you do something wrong, you need to have a good attitude in order to get leniency," He Yue said seriously, her eyes darting around.

"Then tell me, what did you do wrong?" Fourth Prince asked sternly, his face tense.

"Can I not say? Anyway, Fourth Master knows. Besides, Fourth Master has actually benefited. The maid who served me most diligently since I was a child has been taken away by Fourth Master. I'm the one who feels wronged. Where can I find such a good maid?" He Yue saw his serious face, which really looked just like his usual angry expression, so she started to act like a rogue.

"Now you dare to talk back to me?" The Fourth Prince glared at her. What kind of talk was that?!

Heyue shrank her neck, like a quail.

"Alright, this is my fault. How do you want me to compensate you?" The Fourth Prince coughed slightly, his expression somewhat unnatural, but his tone softened.

For the first time, I felt unable to face a little girl, and I even had to please her.

"Huh?" He Yue was quite startled, her clear eyes wide open, thinking she was hallucinating.

Is the Fourth Prince apologizing to himself?

Does he want the future emperor to apologize to him and compensate him?

Heyue feels a lot of pressure.

But what's with this inexplicable excitement?

The compensation from the future emperor—just thinking about it is exciting.

Since he said so, why not take it?

He Yue has never been a humble person!
