When Lady Guarjia saw the Thirteenth Prince, her eyes lit up, and she called out "Master" in a sweet and aggrieved voice.
He Yue shuddered and rubbed the goosebumps on her arms.
Where is this the arrogant and disdainful Guarjia clan member from just now? She's such a good actress!
The Thirteenth Prince, who was smiling as he walked towards Heyue, paused, frowned, glanced at Guarjia, and asked impatiently, "What are you doing here?" He then subconsciously looked at Heyue and instantly became nervous.
Guarjia's face stiffened.
He Yue chuckled, then turned her head away, struggling to suppress her laughter.
"My lord, I have come to pay my respects to my sister." Guarjia's eyes were filled with tears, making her look pitiful and touching. She glanced at Heyue and shrank back, as if she had suffered a great injustice.
However, the Thirteenth Prince completely ignored her performance, walked straight to Heyue, took her hand, and asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"
Seeing her smile, I knew everything was fine, but I still couldn't help worrying.
The important thing is that her good mood was instantly ruined by the presence of another person, making her feel guilty and afraid that she would be angry.
"What could be wrong with me? It's just that my sister Guarjia came to pay her respects." Heyue withdrew her hand, her tone indifferent.
She wasn't so shameless as to show affection in front of a room full of maids, nannies, and Lady Guarjia.
The Thirteenth Prince, however, refused to listen. He pulled Heyue up, put his arm around her waist, and complained, "Why are you calling her 'sister'? She's so much older than you."
All four maids immediately turned their heads away, not daring to look.
Guarjia clutched her chest, her eyes wide with disbelief, tears welling in her eyes.
He Yue stiffened, but she couldn't break free in front of everyone and slap him in the face.
Thinking of what he had just said, Heyue coughed lightly.
That's a really hurtful thing to say.
She pursed her lips and glanced at him.
Is this guy sure he didn't do it on purpose?
But looking at his innocent frown, it really did seem like he was telling the truth.
"I am the primary consort, and she is the secondary consort. She should call me elder sister," she explained with a smile.
The Thirteenth Prince, however, still frowned and pursed his lips: "Then let's follow the rules." It was as if he had made her feel old and that she had suffered some great loss.
He Yue was speechless.
"Master~" Guarjia bit her lip unwillingly, trying to get his attention.
To everyone's surprise, the Thirteenth Prince seemed not to hear her at all. He pinched her soft, tender face, carefully leaned closer, and scrutinized her expression: "Are you sure you're not angry?"
Seeing his worried and anxious expression, He Yue was genuinely touched.
It's normal for men to have multiple wives and concubines, and since Heyue married into the family, she didn't intend to care about such things.
Seeing his nervous expression now, He Yue found it rather amusing.
Glancing at Guarjia, whose face was flushed red and whose lips were tightly bitten, clearly furious, Guarjia's attempt to gain attention and frame her had failed.
“The one who should be angry is someone else.” He Yue gestured behind him with a playful look in her eyes.
The Thirteenth Prince breathed a sigh of relief and then glanced at Lady Guarjia in the direction of her gaze.
Guarjia instantly perked up and looked at him with expectant eyes.
The Thirteenth Prince's face darkened: "What are you doing standing here? Get out of here!"
Hearing what had just been said, Guarjia thought she was to be offered a seat and was happily waiting for Heyue to grant her one.
But then came the next sentence.
Lady Guarjia burst into tears instantly, cupped her hands in a gesture resembling Xi Shi holding her heart, hurriedly bowed, and ran out.
He Yue had never seen him so ruthless before. She looked up at him blankly and suddenly felt that the person in front of her was a complete stranger.
It wasn't until the Thirteenth Prince waved his hand in front of her worried face that she suddenly realized what was happening.
"What's wrong?" the Thirteenth Prince asked with a worried frown.
His worried expression made it seem as if the image of him I had just seen was merely an illusion.
He Yue smiled and shook her head: "It's nothing."
She has no sympathy for what others do.
Regardless of how the person in front of you presents themselves to others, their care and concern for you are genuine.
He Yue thought that regardless of whether she had feelings for him or not, she was willing to treat him better.
Of course, except for that one thing.
The Thirteenth Prince should have been happy that she wasn't angry, but seeing that she wasn't angry, he became even more worried.
He stared at her intently, trying to read something from her face, or perhaps waiting for her to say something that would put his mind at ease.
My heart felt like it was crawling with a million ants; I was extremely anxious.
He Yue clearly didn't understand his worries, nor did she expect him to be so troubled by this matter. She reached out and pushed him, her face flushed as she whispered, "Can you let go of me? Everyone's watching."
She had never been so humiliated in front of her maid.
I'm too ashamed to look at them.
I've already witnessed Thirteen's entanglement with Ren Yue.
The Thirteenth Prince, however, interpreted her behavior as a sign that she was unwilling to be close to him.
That means they're really angry.
Thirteen's heart sank to the bottom, feeling a chill run down her spine.
During the dinner they ate together, the Thirteenth Prince carefully observed He Yue's expression throughout. Seeing that she was as usual and showed no displeasure, he felt even more conflicted and ate the meal absentmindedly.
After finishing his meal, the Thirteenth Prince did not leave. He Yue saw that he intended to stay, and immediately felt a headache coming on.
She couldn't very well send him away in front of the maids, but the thought of what might happen if he stayed made her feel uneasy.
After thinking it over, I decided to give him some advice.
Hailan informed Heyue that during her afternoon rest, the stewards and matrons from the inner and outer courtyards of the mansion came to report that since Heyue was resting, they had been asked to return home first.
He Yue then remembered that she still had to take over the affairs of the manor, and immediately perked up.
