Guarjia shuddered, her face filled with fear, and she shook her head repeatedly: "No, it wasn't me, I didn't do anything, you framed me!" Her eyes blazed with endless hatred, wishing she could tear Heyue to pieces. She wanted to rush forward, but she couldn't move.
Heyue ignored her words, playing with the purse in her hand, and smiled faintly: "Perhaps, what happened last night was not done by you, but by your maid trying to climb into bed with you. After all, this medicine was found on her."
Guarjia was taken aback, looking at her blankly and suspiciously, as if she didn't believe that she would make an excuse for herself.
The maidservant immediately knelt before Heyue, kowtowing repeatedly: "Madam, it wasn't me, it wasn't me, I didn't do anything..."
He Yue smiled gently at Guarjia, as if to say, "You decide what to do," completely ignoring the maid's crying and fussing.
Lady Guarjia suddenly realized what was happening, as if she had grasped at the last straw. A resolute glint flashed in her eyes, and she blurted out, "It was her! I know nothing! I know nothing about last night! I didn't drug her! She was the one who tried to seduce Master!"
The maid looked at her in astonishment, then burst into tears: "Consort, you can't say that! Consort, it was Consort who did it, it has nothing to do with me!"
"You shameless woman! Don't even think about framing me! You've been trying to climb into my bed for a long time. Last night, you took advantage of my presence in my room to try and get into my bed. I've been so good to you, and you repay kindness with such ingratitude. Madam, punish her as you please. This has nothing to do with me!" Guarjia fiercely berated the maid, Xiang Heyue, seeking justice. She didn't think at all that the other woman was the maid she had once loved most.
He Yue sneered. Ha! How ironic! The master is using a maid as a scapegoat.
But that's exactly what she wanted.
"Drag her away and give her a hundred strokes of the cane!" He Yue ordered calmly, as if it were just a simple matter of drinking water, even though it was clearly a bloody affair.
The maid collapsed to the ground, only regaining her senses when two servants held her arms. She then cried out in anguish, begging for mercy and pleading for justice.
Heyue didn't look at her, her tone indifferent: "Although you became the scapegoat, it was because you, as a maid, failed to stop your mistress in time and instead helped her frame the prince. I haven't wronged you. You can only blame yourself for finding a good mistress."
The maidservant immediately stopped struggling, her face ashen, her gaze towards Guarjia clan filled with resentment and venom.
As Guarjia watched her maid being dragged away, she sat on the ground, looking utterly lost.
Hearing the hundred strokes of the cane fall on his flesh like a death knell, accompanied by the woman's screams, he couldn't help but tremble.
"This is just a lesson for you. If it happens again, it won't just be the maid who suffers." Her gentle words fell into her ears like a demonic whisper.
This was the first time Guarjia had ever hated someone so much, yet it was also the first time she had ever felt so powerless. She shrank back, her gaze filled with hatred yet also tinged with fear as she stared at her.
Why? Why treat her like this?
Heyue seemed oblivious, leisurely sipping her tea, listening to the less than one hundred strokes of the cane, when a servant came over to say that he had breathed his last.
Hearing this, Heyue's expression remained unchanged. She helped Chunya up, didn't even glance at her, and walked out.
The two old women released Guarjia, who immediately collapsed to the ground, dazed and confused.
Back in the room, Thirteen was still asleep. Heyue sat there, staring blankly at his face.
After a while, Granny Wang came in and whispered in her ear, "Madam, someone has already sent her out, saying that she knelt down to thank Madam for her great kindness."
He Yue hummed in agreement, but said nothing.
Granny Wang hesitated, looking at her absent-minded appearance, and sighed inwardly.
It was truly unexpected that the young lady possessed such courage, surpassing even the madam in her prime.
However, the princess ultimately couldn't bear to take that life.
Not wanting to disturb them, Granny Wang quietly withdrew.
Ultimately, she couldn't bear to see him so distressed, and feeling stifled with nowhere to vent her frustration, she thought of the culprit, Lady Guarjia, and went to teach her a lesson.
At the same time, she was angry at herself for being too soft-hearted. She pointed her finger and tapped his forehead hard, her expression fierce: "You bastard, wait until you wake up and see how I deal with you! Did you hear me? Don't pretend to be asleep!"
Seeing that he had no reaction, He Yue felt bored. She was really stupid. Could it be that she was really fooled by his silly appearance?
A pair of fools!
After an unknown amount of time, Heyue, exhausted, propped her head up with one hand and fell asleep.
In a daze, I felt something moving across my face. I frowned uncomfortably, slowly opened my eyes, and saw a magnified handsome face.
He Yue was startled and instinctively raised her hand to slap the other person's face, hearing a crisp sound.
When he saw what was in front of him clearly, he immediately blushed with embarrassment and looked around nervously.
Thirteen covered her face, muttering resentfully, "You really are heartless!"
The moment she opened her eyes, she heard those words. She smiled gently, no longer feeling guilty, and glared at his energetic face.
Hmph, it seems he's fully recovered and still has the energy to ambush me.
"Get out if you're awake, I need to rest." He rudely dismissed the person, showing no consideration for their recent recovery from a serious illness.
Thirteen quickly put on a fawning expression: "My lady, I was wrong, please don't send me away, okay?"
He Yue looked at him coldly, pursing her lips, unmoved by his pitiful expression.
Thirteen's face fell immediately. He knew he had made a mistake, so he dared not say another word, obediently got out of bed, and called Li Shun'er.
After putting on the clothes that were brought to him, he glanced at Heyue again, wanting to say something, but saw that she still had an icy expression, as if to say, "Aren't you leaving yet? Are you waiting for me to kick you out?!"
