Chapter 244 Why Pretend to Be Confused?

He paused, about to step forward, when he noticed a woman standing opposite him.

No, it should be said that it was a girl, twelve or thirteen years old, looking up at the adult man in front of her with curiosity and admiration.

This pairing resembles a father and daughter, but the other is not the eldest princess.

A thought struck her, and she had an answer. Heyue immediately hid behind a boxwood tree that only reached her waist, crouched down, and stared at the commotion.

Hailan and Chunya looked at each other in bewilderment and hid behind her.

Seeing that they were just talking face to face and did nothing else, Heyue breathed a sigh of relief. If the Fourth Prince had done something like that at this moment, Heyue would have really despised him.

When did the Fourth Prince's mansion acquire such a young princess?

Thinking back to this year's spring talent show, I guessed that she might have just entered the family this year.

He Yue couldn't help but think to herself, "Isn't this a bit too young? It's like an old cow eating young grass."

Fortunately, the woman left soon after, and the Fourth Prince stood there alone for a long time.

After squatting for a long time, Yue's legs went numb. She wondered why he hadn't left yet when she suddenly collapsed to the ground with a cry of "Ouch!" She immediately covered her mouth and instinctively held her breath.

However, it was too late. The Fourth Prince's sharp eyes instantly turned towards them, and he shouted, "Who goes there?!"

Frustrated, He Yue rubbed her legs and stood up, but due to poor blood circulation in her legs, she did not go over immediately.

"It's me."

He uttered a frustrated sigh, thinking to himself, "It really has been a long time since I've exercised. I've been too pampered, and my physical strength is getting worse and worse."

He secretly complained to himself that he should have left after that woman left. What was the big deal? Why did he have to feel guilty? Now he's caught in his own trap.

The Fourth Prince was slightly surprised. He strode over and, seeing her standing still, frowned in displeasure: "What are you doing here?"

He Yue was afraid he would suspect that she had been eavesdropping, so she quickly waved her hand and said, "I just came to relax and accidentally saw it. I was sorry to disturb you, Fourth Master, so I didn't say anything."

The Fourth Prince stared at her for a while, and Heyue lowered her head, sighing inwardly, "What bad luck! If I had known this would happen, I should have stayed far away from them when I saw them."

"Can you still walk?" Fortunately, Fourth Master didn't seem angry; his tone was quite concerned.

He Yue breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, "Okay." She had calmed down and felt better by now.

"Come with me." The Fourth Prince said nothing more, his face calm, and turned to leave.

He Yue remained silent for a moment, then obediently followed him.

Upon arriving at the study, Hailan and Chun Ya remained outside, while Heyue followed the Fourth Prince inside.

"Sit." The Fourth Prince glanced at her, then went behind his desk, took a book from the shelf, sat down, and began to read.

Heyue sat in the chair, watching him quietly read a book, but he didn't turn a single page for a long time.

It seems he wasn't entirely indifferent.

He appears indifferent, but he keeps his true feelings hidden inside.

People who appear strong are more heartbreaking when they show occasional vulnerability, and this is the case with the Fourth Prince.

Why did he send me here? He's been sitting there for ages without saying a word, leaving her here alone, lost in thought with him?

That's quite a unique hobby.

He Yue wasn't one to stay still, so when she saw that he didn't move, she stood up and walked over to him.

The Fourth Prince did not react to her approach until He Yue snatched the book from his hand, at which point he looked up in surprise.

Heyue slammed the book on the table, pursed her lips, and boldly looked him straight in the eye: "Fourth Brother, are you daydreaming? If you're really bored, why don't you say something?"

The Fourth Prince's dark eyes narrowed as he stared intently at her, his imposing aura palpable.

Heyue wasn't afraid at all. She picked up the book she had just read, opened it to the first page, and smiled. "If Fourth Brother doesn't want to talk, Heyue can read to you. Otherwise, Fourth Brother might read for a long time but not understand a single word, wasting this precious time."

Upon looking into it, He Yue broke out in a cold sweat. What was this? It was densely packed with characters; she recognized each character individually, but seeing them all together made her dizzy.

I closed the book and looked at the cover; it was the Book of Changes.

He Yue simply put the book back on the shelf and found another book called "The Great Learning".

As I turned to the first page, about to read, I suddenly felt weightless and fell into a warm, hard chest.

He Yue was startled and tried to get up, but a hand lifted her chin. Just as a dark shadow was about to descend, He Yue quickly raised her hand to block it, turned her face away, and exclaimed, "Fourth Brother!"

The word "Fourth Brother" seemed to wake the person in front of him. He stopped moving and frowned as he looked at the pale-faced, erratic-breathing man in front of him.

He Yue tried to push him away, but the Fourth Prince seemed to notice her movement. His face turned frightened, and he grabbed her waist tightly, saying, "Don't move! Let me hold you for a while."

But she wouldn't listen. She was already stunned by his actions and just wanted to get as far away from him as possible.

I just wanted to comfort him, how did it turn out like this? I really don't understand.

"You just saw Niohuru?" a voice whispered in her ear.

As soon as the words left her mouth, He Yue froze, her body stiffening instantly.

He didn't immediately understand who he was talking about, but then he suddenly remembered the woman he had just seen standing with the Fourth Prince. Could she be Niohuru?

Heyue was stunned by the surname and forgot to struggle.

If she was right, Niohuru was indeed the future mother of Emperor Qianlong, and she had actually met such a famous figure in history.

But why did he suddenly bring up the Niohuru clan?

The consequence of being lost in thought was that Heyue fell completely under the control of the Fourth Prince, who held her in his arms and she was unable to struggle.
