Chapter 308 Not a Long-Term Plan

"You think everyone is like you, foolishly loving someone and willingly waiting?" He Yue mocked her.

Seeing her glaring angrily, He Yue leaned casually against the car wall: "If you do something to hurt others because of your infatuation, do you still deserve sympathy? Not everyone is willing to stay with one person for a lifetime and wait for an impossible response without complaint."

Hailan was stunned, puzzled: "What do you mean by that, Madam?"

He Yue raised her hand and tapped her on the head: "Idiot! Think about it yourself!"

Hailan covered her head and angrily accused, "How could the Princess Consort be like this?"

"Think of Yu Ying, and you'll understand," He Yue said calmly.

Hailan suddenly stopped talking.

He Yue thought back to when Yu Ying had also fallen in love with Prince Yong and had gone so far as to use her, her mistress, to successfully climb into his bed.

Ultimately, love, if expressed in the wrong way, can be extremely harmful to both oneself and others.

"I wonder how Yu Ying is doing. When she was here, I always went against her. Now that she's gone, I miss her more and more and worry that she's been bullied or wronged." Hai Lan sighed.

He Yue glanced at her in surprise; this girl was becoming more and more sentimental.

He shook his head: "She's living a life of luxury, has everything she wants, and is perfectly content. What's there to worry about? Instead of worrying about her, you should worry about yourself. I don't want my girl to turn herself into an old maid for another man."

Hailan blushed and scolded, "Your Highness is so frivolous!" Seeing no sadness on her face, she couldn't help but wonder, "Isn't Your Highness worried about Yuying?"

He Yue glanced at her and sneered, "Why should I worry? Back then, she seduced Prince Yong behind my back without considering my feelings. I agreed to let her have her way, which was more than enough. Now, she's no different from a stranger in my eyes. What does it matter to me whether she's good or bad?"

Do you really think she's a saint? Everyone who betrayed her still thinks of her and misses her. Doesn't that make you a laughingstock?

Over the years, Heyue has never really cared how Yuying has fared. At most, she's been scheming against those people, or perhaps she's being bullied so badly by Consort Li that she can't even lift her head.

Or perhaps, being a bit smarter, he secured his position by relying on the protection of the Fourth Prince's wife and the favor of Prince Yong, but he was also secretly plotting how to bring down Consort Li.

Hailan said sullenly, "But Consort Li is currently in a very powerful position. I wonder how Yuying will be bullied. After all, she served the Consort. Is the Consort really so heartless?"

"You think I'm heartless?" He Yue glanced at her sideways, seeing her face turn red and she was about to retort, she raised her hand to interrupt: "You've served me for so many years, you know what kind of person I am. I will take care of those who are loyal to me, and no one will be allowed to bully them. As for those who betray me for their own selfish reasons, I don't have the heart to forgive them and think of them."

If you think I'm heartless or unhappy, I can arrange a good marriage for you anytime, ensuring you'll never have to worry about food or clothing again. From then on, we can go our separate ways.

Hailan's face turned pale, and she hurriedly knelt down, shaking her head repeatedly: "My lady, Hailan didn't mean that. Please don't send me away. I know I was wrong."

Heyue closed her eyes and remained silent.

Seeing this, Chun Ya also knelt down, but tugged at Hai Lan's hand and scolded, "Why are you acting like this? You know that the Fujin is always tough on the outside but soft on the inside. She doesn't care about Sister Yu Ying because she was heartbroken by Sister Yu Ying. How can you say that the Fujin is heartless? Don't you know how the Fujin treats us?"

Hailan lowered her head in shame, crawled to Heyue's feet, and hugged her legs: "Fujin, this servant was wrong, this servant shouldn't have spoken to you like that, please don't be angry, okay? This servant will never mention Yuying again."

He Yue remained unmoved.

Hailan lowered her eyes sadly and shed tears of grievance.

Chun Ya glanced at He Yue's face, took Hai Lan's hand, and winked at her: "If the Fujin doesn't say anything, it means she has forgiven you. Don't look so gloomy, lest you upset the Fujin again."

Hailan raised her tearful eyes, confused, wanting to ask if the Fujin had really forgiven her? Receiving Chun Ya's signal, she suddenly understood and hurriedly kowtowed to He Yue happily: "Thank you, Fujin, thank you, Fujin."

Then he obediently sat back down in his original spot, staring longingly at Heyue.

Seeing that she showed no displeasure, he breathed a sigh of relief.

The journey was quiet.

When the carriage arrived at the gate of the mansion, Heyue opened her eyes at the right moment, while Hailan and Chunya got off the carriage first.

As soon as Heyue lifted the carriage curtain, Hailan eagerly extended her hand: "Princess Consort, please be careful."

Helping the two women off the carriage, He Yue didn't even glance at them before heading straight into the mansion.

Hailan caught up a few steps, following Chun Ya on either side. When they crossed the steps, Hailan quickened her pace, took He Yue's arm, and reminded her, "Princess Consort, be careful on the steps."

Heyue glanced at Hailan, who had a docile and ingratiating expression, and said nothing. She let Hailan help her into the second gate before letting go of her hand.

Hailan's lips curled into a smile.

The fact that the princess didn't refuse meant she wasn't angry with her anymore.

"You're getting more and more of a sycophant," Chun Ya whispered teasingly as she leaned closer.

Hailan snorted: "So what? As long as the Princess Consort isn't angry with me anymore, I'll do anything you ask. I was out of my mind today; how could I have said such a thing?"

As he spoke, he slapped his head in frustration and sighed.

Chun Ya covered her mouth and chuckled.

When Thirteen returned, he saw Heyue sitting on the couch reading a book, looking absent-minded. He put his arm around her waist and asked, "What's wrong? Are you in a bad mood?"

"How did you know I was in a bad mood?" He Yue looked up in surprise.
